  1. Jonathan Frakes posted on his Twitter two days ago that GF is going to be starring on an online soap called Pretty. Ya know what I wouldn't be doing if I had a network soap gig? An online soap.

    Hmm.

Regardless, I just about fall asleep at the idea of a LnL reunion. It's been done. Move on, folks.

You have to wonder who decides wardrobe at GH. Tracy has looked great lately. It's like they've quit draping her in those flowy things they adored a couple of years ago and made her start looking like the awesome business lady she is. In fact, I have to say that I think everyone's wardrobe on GH is looking better these days.

  2. Oh, ye gods. Luke and Laura again?? DULLSVILLE.

And Tracy with Anthony Zacchara? I don't think so.

Don't get me wrong - I LOVE Bruce Weitz and think AZ is an absolutely fabulous character, a pot-stirrer extraordinaire. But it would be so fantastically out of character for Tracy to willingly fall into something with a stone-cold murderer that I can't stomach it. A wacky blackmail scheme? I MAY could take that. But a love match? That's a long stretch I don't think they can sell me, even with actors as amazing as BW and JE.

So if TG and JJ leave, and then JMB takes a hike as is rumored, that's really going to leave NP at loose ends. I never thought I would have said this two years ago, but I hope he doesn't leave GH. He's really impressed me in the last week or two, and never so much as when Ethan was bonding with Lucky and telling off Luke. It was really good stuff. Hopefully there'd be some Tracy and Ethan connection to keep him tied into the canvas in some meaningful way outside of recasted Ethina.

Feh. All speculation at this point, anyway. But it bothers me if it's coming from Ravenbeauty because she's typically spot-on.

  3. This is a blow to the Davises though. That family worked without a man in sight. Why couldn't it be allowed to continue?

Yes. THIS. A thousand times, Remos. I love NLG and all the Davis women SO MUCH. It's criminal they're not given more time, and I hate that Lexi won't be in the mix because all four of the actresses have fantastic chemistry together.

  4. So Lexi Ainsworth just tweeted about an hour ago that the rumors are true: yesterday was her last shooting day on GH. sad.png

I think she's a talented actress. I guess they decided that if they're going through with Ethina that they need someone a bit older, but I thought her chemistry with Nathan Parsons was pretty good. It's a shame they couldn't wait out things until she aged on her own - the friendship base could have led to an amazing romance.

Speaking of NP, he had some fantastic scenes today with TG. I see why TG is such a cheerleader for him now. Between his scenes today and those with JJ yesterday, the boy is definitely pulling his weight in the acting department. It's SO WONDERFUL to see some actual character moments with non-repetitive dialogue going on.

    I don't need clink-boom if I can have characterization.

ETA: Dig it! I'm not a Dayplayer anymore! Only took me three years. biggrin.png

  5. Liked the scenes today. I LOVE that they didn't play them for laughs. I like GW's more subtle style of writing. The slapstick thing between Tracy and Luke got old once they were seriously together.

JE played some really great beats today. We know what's coming now - Tracy's gonna use AZ to try to keep Luke at arm's length and it's probably gonna backfire. I do like that this is a blackmail scenario because I couldn't see how she could realistically hang around AZ without it being completely out of character.

Incidentally, TG is 100 zillion times better playing subtle serious scenes as opposed to the mugging that Guza had him doing so often. That said, the look on Luke's face at the end of today? It seriously made my heart pitter-patter there for a second. It's like when MB goes out with a full-on smile: it's hard not to find him attractive when he grins like that.

  6. I sincerely hope JE isn't out - I don't think she'd go willingly. I think they'd have to fire her before she would go, and I really don't think they will because she plays the octogenarian role for the show right now. She's also the "conscience" character: the one that can get away with saying ANYTHING to people, and it's usually the truth everyone else would WANT to tell them but can't.

Tracy's just too fun to write. They'd be total morons to let her go.

My money is on TG being the HUGE name and probably JJ as the other male. Either JJ or JI. While I'd HATE to see John Ingle go, it could potentially stimulate the long-time rumored bringing of the Qs back to the canvas. And seriously, just how old is Edward now? He's been the opposite of SORASd so many times now that it's just insane.

If they could produce some decent writing for him, I'd love to see Kin Shriner back on canvas permanently. When he's good, he's VERY VERY good. It just seems like they never knew how to write anything but slimeball crap writing for him right before he left the last time. But holy cow, some of his scenes with Lynn Herring, JE, and JZ in the late 80s/early 90s are still some of my favorite things on GH from that time period. They were so much fun together.

(And for that matter, why not pull back Lynn Herring? She's fabulous and completely free from anything industry-related right now.)

Sorry. I guess I kinda spilled my wish list there.

  7. ^^ I think TG is a "company man". They give it to him, he sells it. Guza wanted his stuff about Luke sold, and TG went about doing it through interviews and on camera. While watching his scenes during Luke's downward spiral, you could see the man was trying to turn it into King Lear or something equally intriguing. TG can't be held responsible for Guza not writing any way out of the hole.

You're probably right about TG being a company man. I just have no idea how they're going to get Luke out of this in a way that will make him likeable. I guess I should hold on and see. At the very least, Luke had better angst HARD over his various relationships. If that's their intent, the conversations with Skye just didn't bring that across at all and I need more than that to buy it.

I totally blame Guza on this one - it's a bit hard for me to be objective about a storyline where a toddler is run over, especially when the person who did it ducks out of town to avoid facing what has happened. Even if it was Luke, who's supposed to be in total denial.

  8. hooked, that was me. I tried to send you a PM but I'm not sure it went through.

Colin is doing great - 25 lbs., running around all over the place, talking (although his speech is still way delayed), and about to start daycare a week from Monday. I can't believe so much time has passed already. Here's a recent picture.

    JSUGameDay.jpg

As for GH, I'm kinda rolling my eyes at the Tracy/AZ stuff but I also don't think I want her anywhere near Luke, sadly enough. Guza's parting shot seems to have been to kill any interest I had in any type of redemption for him. Unless AG pulls a rabbit out of his hat, I don't see the character as redeemable enough for what I would want for Tracy. And that's some feat, considering the tricks she's pulled in her lifetime. Here's hoping the writing gives it a chance (although part of me wonders if this is AG running interference since I don't see anything compelling about his return, either). AG was always such a fan of Luke's total decimation and I can't understand why. I definitely didn't think he was angelic as in the Laura days, but the whole turn since the intervention episodes, which were so freakin' fantastic, has been just pathetic and not even pity-worthy.

Tracy's better than that. I don't mind her with a scoundrel, but I don't want her with a sleazeball.

Hmmm... Guess I had more to say about that than I thought.

  9. Hey, y'all. Life's been nuts lately, but I have a much-needed day off today that I'm dedicating to soap land (mostly because of the last AMC ep).

I've been keeping an eye on the rumors and I'm not making any judgments yet. The writing has improved so much already but GW is still dealing with some of Guza's outlines so I'm giving it time to move around to pure GW. I can already see so much character balance returning, and I'm loving that the segments between characters are longer and do more to deepen the development and relationships.

In the meantime, I've discovered a treasure trove of Santa Barbara clips. I never watched it back when it was on, but I can't get enough of it now. I sure do miss excellently scripted soap opera. It seems to be a rarity these days.

  10. Just caught up in GH this week and im so pleased to see those awesome Q scenes. Nobody brings it like LC and JE together in a scene - definitely the epitome of two consummate pros at work.

The spoilers I'm able to find seem really exciting. It's nice to see a plan for bringing GH back to life. Speaking of spoilers, what is up with the Insider's Lounge? If I hit the address now, it tells me I've been banned. Since I've never had a username there, I can't imagine what I would have done to cause being banned.

In other news, it's been a rough week for me. One of my best friends passed away unexpectedly (he threw a blood clot after a hip surgery) and I've been supporting his partner of 20 years, another bestie. As hard as it's been on me, I can only imagine how he's feeling, starting his life over again without the love of his life. Catching up on GH brought me a nice escape for a while after having to speak at the funeral yesterday.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

  11. Hey guys! I'm traveling on business in Washington and actually have time to get online since I'm away from the kid and hubby. I'm SO excited about all the changes being dropped all over the place - looks like my Qs are coming back in epic fashion.

Now if we can just steal Wally Kurth from DAYS.

    And this cracked me up...

Oh and Monica finds out about Jake from Tracy

And there's an explanation about why Monica has been missing.

LOL, I hope so. Especially since they've been paging her in the background noise at the hospital non-stop for over a year now.

Hoping the news about TG isn't true, but I have a feeling it is. He's always saddled his horse on the high-lauding "talents" of Bob Guza, and now that the loser is gone, I have a feeling he's not far behind.

    (There was another drop that MB was leaving - now wouldn't that just be something? A girl can dream. [And to think, I was so in love with MB as Nico on AMC back in the day. The man STILL has a dreamy smile but he's just phoning it in on GH these days.]}

  12. Ugh. I finally had to stop following Carolyn Hennesy on Twitter tonight. I'm not a huge fan of James Franco, but she took a legitimate question about her rather rude and tacky comments about him as an opportunity to block one of her fans. I didn't have a problem with her James Franco hate (especially since he more or less bombed out hosting the Oscars tonight), but I definitely take issue with her revelry when her other fans started mocking the poor girl who asked why she was dissing him when he brought exposure to the place that pays her steady paycheck.

Seriously, have some effing class with people who are there largely because they adore you, lady. If this were the first time, I would have been surprised, but since she does this on a regular basis, I just had enough finally. Tacky, tacky, tacky. I was OK with her politics not jibing with mine, but when you begin what amounts to bullying people who are not public figures who are following because they admire you? That's a bit much for my Southern sensibilities to take.

I hate it when actors who portray characters I love make asshats of themselves. It ruins the characters for me. It's the same reason I can't bring myself to watch Tom Cruise on screen anymore.

There were some great films represented on the Oscars tonight. I'm a huge fan of Colin Firth, and this was a good night for him. I just wish Inception would have gotten more love.

I actually enjoyed GH towards the end of the week. Even if Guza is hack enough to rip off his own material, Clink-Boom 2: Electric Boogalo worked for me. Loved the Luke/Tracy scenes, and Edward was awesome, too. I was glad they didn't have him compromise on the walking down the aisle thing.

    How's everyone?

  13. Gah! Save me from today's episode. SO DULL.

Could have used some Mac and Alexis if we're not going to get any Tracy and Luke. I am so over caring anything about Brenda Barrett that it puts me off even watching the eps with her back in the day (as I planned to do since I heard she was awesome then).

So my project for this year is to keep myself going with creative projects. If anyone wants an icon or banner with a particular screencap, PM it to me and I'll be glad to work on them a bit at a time.

(Incidentally, if NLG is gone, I may seriously reconsider sticking around even for Jane. That might be my final straw since I could always catch Tracy clips here. Watching the Valentine's Day episode from 1999 did today's show absolutely no favors whatsoever.)

  14. 'lo everyone!

Looks like the board is jumping again. I've been staying busy - the kid is officially walking now, so he keeps us on the run. He still has regular physical, occupational, and speech therapy, but he's doing well for the most part. We may have to have another surgery soon since his hernia looks like it may be back, but we're trying to dodge that bullet as long as possible.

Kinda meh with the show right now, and rumors of all the people on the edge of the ax (and OMG! Becky Herbst!) have me wondering if it's time to give up the show. I'll stick it out as long as Jane is there, though, and possibly NLG.

How's everyone? Here's a pic of the kidlet.

  15. Awwww... what an awesome ep today. Besides the obvious LuNacy fix, Edward, Jason and Michael had some great moments, too.

(And Tracy was totally right - it's just RUDE to upstage someone else's moment like that. Even Luke had the grace to look embarrassed on Sonny's behalf.)

  16. Happy Holidays, everyone!!

Wanted to stop in and catch up for a bit after seeing that awesome wedding this past week. How much do I love, love, LOVE that we managed to have a full on Luke/Tracy wedding with no mention of Laura in sight? I can't believe that didn't get milked, but I'm so grateful.

(And don't get me wrong. I actually LIKE Laura. I just don't like she and Luke together as I feel Tracy and Luke are infinitely better matched.)

One complaint about the Wednesday ep, though. Would it have killed them to have shown a photo of Alan on the mantel? I mean, I know that TIIC have this apparently loathing of Stuart Damon, but COME ON. Not having Monica there for Tracy's wedding and showing the disrespect they do for that couple is just nonsense. A throw-off mention of Ned and Dillon wouldn't have hurt, either. Aside from that, no complaints. It was exactly what I expected for a LuNacy wedding and the affection, love and enjoyment was evident. The scene where Edward talks to Lila was just icing on the cake.

Anyway, now that I have a working laptop again, I'm hoping to become a more permanent fixture around here again.

My little man is getting so big. He's showing some developmental delays even for his adjusted age, so he regularly has speech and occupational therapy. Outside of that, he's doing well. He's been off the oxygen since this summer and is so mobile now I can barely keep up. He walks short distances but still prefers to crawl all over the place.

Not bad for a kid who only baked halfway, huh? :P And just to bore everyone senseless, here's a vid of him yesterday playing on one of his (MANY) new toys.

    http://www.twitvid.com/embed.php?guid=NMY43

Hope everyone had a great holiday celebration, whatever the type.

  17. :::quick wave:::

How much do I love the idea of a Q Thanksgiving? I miss it soooooo much. The last one they showed us was the one where Monica had just found out about Emily's death. Ick. Just wish Alan were still around. :(

Yay for happy Tracy. We don't get that entirely enough for my taste.

ETA: Also, it's ABOUT TIME they had this not-irritating-Michael interacting with the Qs. I mean, seriously.

  18. A bit of irony that we don't see Leslie Charleson for weeks and then the Qs are on a few days after her contract thing breaks. They're still all awesome together onscreen. Pisses me off what's happened to them all.

OK, and I got geeky excited reading about the final casting for Reality Bytes. Why? Because I was a huge Robert/Katherine fan back in the day on GH and it appears that Edie Lehmann is going to be in the cast. Woohoo! I love her so much - I actually quit watching GH when she left back in the early 90s and missed the golden years that followed right after (thank the goddess for YouTube, right?).

To show you what a hardcore geek I am, I can tell you that her best friend is R&B artist Siedah Garrett (famous for singing "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" with Michael Jackson), she has perfect pitch, and she sang backup vocals on Madonna's True Blue album. She was also a trained concert pianist at the time she was on GH, but I think most everyone knew that just from the character background.

Hmmm... GH things I like right now - everyone seems to be dog-piling Sonny. That lifts my spirits a bit. And I'm actually LOVING this whole Scrubs storyline. Kimberly McCullough doesn't get paid enough to work with these crappy writers but she sure can rock what they serve up hardcore.

  19. One of the things that I rarely see anyone mention is that the writers get royalties for the characters they create (they're small, but they're there). It wouldn't shock me if the reason Guza keeps killing off all but two or three legacy characters is he wants to establish his creations as the main cast but he can't get rid of characters like Luke and Robin without having a revolt on his hands.

Bah. I like Leslie Charleson but they've been wasting her talent for years now. Monica might as well have died along with Alan, for all the crap storyline they've given her. Even the alcoholism s/l was a joke, rushed and poorly constructed. I honestly think the only reason they've kept her around this long is they like to use her as an example of having a 30+-year vet of the soap on board when people (rightly so) start up about killing off the veteran characters.

Oh, and speaking of Robin up there, hasn't Kimberly McCullough been rocking the casbah with her performance the past couple of days? She's turning in some amazing work right now. Yesterday's episode made me want to rip my heart right out for her.

  20. Hey guys!

Working my way through a summer cold and trying to work my way through today's GH. Snooooooze. I like Brenda but hadn't they established at this point that she was too smart to get sucked into Sonny's drama again?

Sam bores me, Brook Lynne bores me... think we can talk TPTB into a spinoff with the Spencers and Quartermaines and call it a day?

Hope everyone is doing well. Stay outta trouble, y'all!

  21. Hey guys!

Just been reading back through the last few pages or so and catching up a bit. Colin is doing well - getting bigger all the time.

Anyway, while I can understand TG's frustration with the Charles Street years, I disagree with his assessment of Wendy Riche and Claire Labine. To me, that was the golden era of GH. BJ's death and the implosion of Bobbie and Tony's marriage, Robin and Stone, Monica's breast cancer, the beginnings of the oh-so-lately-touted Sonny and Brenda, Kevin and Lucy, the Nurses Balls... It was just an amazing time for GH with multiple REAL umbrella stories going on that featured every actor on the GH canvas and (GASP) actual stories involving the hospital (I've been watching AMC this summer and have seen more hospital stories there these few months than I have in 3 years on GH). Riche and Labine had quite a bit of clean-up to do after GM's second stint (which was total crap - the Eckerts? REALLY?) and not only did they turn it around, they turned it into the most enjoyable era of GH.

That said, LnL were DULL during that time period. They didn't start getting interesting until LnL2 started up with Liz's rape storyline and the reveal about Luke's past to Lucky. I'm pretty sure that was about the time Guza was taking over from Claire Labine. So yeah, LnL were done a disservice during the Charles Street period, but everyone else definitely was not. If you look at those storylines, they're the ones that everyone immediately point to as iconic and where they want the show to be again. So my guess is that TG didn't like Luke being neutered out of his adventure state into the happy husband. BUT, you could look at it this way - there wouldn't be Tracy/Luke if Luke hadn't realized how much that life wasn't for him and decided to dismantle it via his affair with Felicia.

Speaking of TR and the old schoolers, has anyone heard about The Bay? The cast is brimming with 80s/90s era soap stars like Mary Beth Evans, Tristan Rogers, Matthew Ashford, Lane Davies, etc., etc., etc. I'm intrigued enough to take a look when it starts up, if nothing else to see what they come up with.
