  1. They are the sick brother and sister of cruelty, why do people want them acting normal?

This. The scenes were very dramatic and evoked all kinds of emotions that get so jumbled up together I can't possibly explain them in mere words. I didn't get all bogged down in deciding whether or not it was rape. It was just another in a long string of complicated interactions in their history that doesn't conform to some label IMO.

  2. I'm enjoying this season immensely. I didn't read the books, but I've had the experience in the past of a book I loved being bastardized in film, so I feel your pain. However, hearing the complaints just makes me glad I didn't read the books. I'm thoroughly enjoying the stories unencumbered by the distraction of trying to analyze its authenticity. Joffrey's death was fantastic. His behavior leading up to that was so atrocious. All the giggling and smug derision. The tension during the celebration made me tingle. Sansa's face as the "entertainment" reenacted her father's beheading was riveting. I couldn't take my eyes off of her. I was momentarily giddy over the gruesomeness of Joffrey's suffering. I know I will miss him, but I'm really very interested in this "whodunnit" and why.

I am not going to miss Shae. She became clingy. The exact opposite of how she was introduced. She lost her power.

I don't get the purpose of Theon, but I'm intrigued about whether or not he will somehow come out of this and how.

So far the Stannis piece has not captured my interest.

  3. To me it's the same thing. What Dany saw as "freedom" was a very limited view. She thought this woman was indebted to her and didn't take the time to wonder how the woman must have felt, what she'd lost, and how that would affect who she was going to be after being "saved." If Dany had kept some of this in mind, she wouldn't have let the healer manipulate her into getting such revenge.

I think Dany doesn't entirely see those she "frees" as being people (yes she believes they are people in that they shouldn't be slaves, which is wonderful, but sometimes it's as if once she "frees" them, she forgets all the complications and baggage and that it's not as easy as them just dusting themselves off). That limits her as a leader. Hopefully this will be addressed and she can learn and grow.

I think there is a balance. Dany is a liberator but she also has to be a powerful and "commanding" leader to achieve her goals. Those are cross purposes and that is where her conflict arises.

  4. Did anyone see the entire ep tonight? I missed the last couple of minutes, as my DVR cut out. Thanks!!

I did. I actually thought it was better than usual. I've grown weary of the show because it seems like it's become even more exploitative than ever. But this particular episode did a really good job of showing how child pornography is not a victimless crime, in no small part due to the wonderful performance by the young woman who played "Lacy". I remember her from OLTL. She was very good.

  5. I'm watching this through Netflix (which means I get to hear the commentary too, which is nice). I just finished episode 4.

I looked for this on netflix and couldn't find it. My son wanted to watch it but doesn't have HBO. could you link? Please.

  6. So let me see if I get this right...

IAB has footage of Detective Amanda Rollins about to give a guy a BJ in a seedy club because she is $15k [which is really not that big of a deal] in the hole from gambling debts, and she needed to prove to him that she can be trusted? IAB, after a "convincing" argument from an undercover NYC cop, says "okie dokie...go back to work".

What's left to say about this show?!

They have really demolished Rollins. I can't stand to watch her anymore. And Benson has become the biggest hypocrite on the planet.

  7. Ugh... still praying for that to be false. I didn't read it because I could care less about her.

I've seen that reaction from a lot of people. I don't really have a problem with her as long as it serves and creates story. I love IchAbbie chemistry, but I don't need for them to become romantic.

  8. I caught the last 15 minutes last night. It was educational. Not sure there's anything there I want to see again. It seemed titillating and not very deep. Going for shock. And relied on stereotypes. Maybe I just caught a poor 15 minutes.

  9. I am excited to see Jaime back with his family, maybe he can rein in Joffrey. I forget, do all the Lannisters know the secret or are any of them still in the dark? I wonder why there was no Sansa in the promo, her character was so major but perhaps since she is running out of relatives her character will start to recede.

Based on this promo, and the posters, it appears the remaining Starks will remain very central in the upcoming season.

    Orlando Jones is a hoot.

I wonder if Nicole Beharie ever wonders how she became associated with two such nerdy guys. They're all hilarious.

  11. Wow! What did I watch? The search is on for a missing kid who landed in the hands of a pedophile and child pornography ring. Did they kidnap the kid? Nope. Mommy had a convenient breakdown and gave the kid to this group. That's not the worse part. She got the kid back at the end of the eppy because daddy promises to be home more and mommy says she'll never do it again. Huh? Benson walks off and tells this woman that she is lucky there are no better options for the kid? Again, huh? There are no better options than a wacko who delivers the kid to sex offenders? OMG! I had to go back to the beginning to make sure the mother in the beginning was the same woman at the end because I could not believe she was given the kid back and didn't even have to fight for him.

    This show really has expired!

I agree. This show has really gone off the rails. Oddly, my biggest problem is the villains are cartoonish. This guy who was arrested (who had faked paralysis for years) was more concerned about leaving that feast (talk about gorging) than being arrested. Patricia Arquette's characters was a complete joke. In the old days, they would have written some nuance. The mother would have been shown to be a basket case or something. I think Ron Carlivati is writing SVU now. It's a joke.

  12. Thanks dragonflies. It makes me nervous and more anxious for Season 2 to arrive, all at the same time. Everything about this show is just so smart. They tell this supernatural story, and yet it's not campy IMO. They have all the gags surrounding Crane's lack of knowledge about the environment he now lives in, and technology, and it's amusing and cute, but doesn't get hammy. The more I hear from the writers the more I appreciate it. I think this series will be one for binge viewings when time allows. Perhaps several. I know I'd rather watch this again than new episodes of many other shows.

  13. Not often shows surprise me, but Henry being Jeremy did and it made me laugh at the same time. I thought it served them right that he gave Katrina to Abraham and threw Ichabod in the grave for abandoning Abby in purgatory. I could not believe that Ichabod did that.

I don't think Ichabod had any intention of "abandoning" Abby, and Abby probably would have sacrificed herself anyway even if there were no potential for her to be rescued from Purgatory, so it wasn't the betrayal that was prophesied. But when Crane and Abby hugged, the expression on Katrina's face made me think she wasn't going to return to purgatory willingly and she looked a little bit jelly. I loved the scenes with Abby and Jenny. This was a terrific cliffhanger in every way. Is Jenny dead? Is Lt. Irving just going to prison? Will Abby escape from purgatory? THAT's how you do a cliffhanger. And we won't have new episodes until fall!!! I can't stand it!
