MCKINNONS HOUSE

Vicky sits on the living room couch and Jake walks in.

Jake: Open the door.

Vicky: Nobody knocked.

Jake: It's a surprise.

Vicky: Jake I'm really not in the mood.

Jake: Vick just go open the door okay.

Vicky reluctantly does so and gets a pleasant surprise.

Vicky: Kirkland! Oh my God!

They hug each other tightly. "I'm so sorry mom." he says regarding Michele's death.

Vicky: About what honey? I'm so glad you're home.

Kirkland: I wish I could have been here sooner.

Vicky: I'm so glad you're here. You've lifted my spirits.

Kirkland: You heard from Steven?

Jake: He sent flowers. He's not gonna be able to make it for the memorial.

Vicky: He was really torn up when I told him about Michele.

Kirkland: Of course he was. Where's Bridget?

Vicky: She's right where she belongs...not here!

CORY LIVING ROOM

Rachel is livid after looking at her online statistics for Cory Publishing, and Amanda walks in.

Rachel: Would you mind explaining this Amanda?

Amanda: What?

Rachel: There are seven buyout requests that you've approved. That's going to put us in a big hole.

Amanda: We didn't have a choice mom. They all pulled out of their contracts.

Rachel: Contracts that you approved without my consent.

Amanda: I had to make an executive decision.

Rachel: You were out celebrating with Allen, and now these same people who he signed are going to pull out.

Amanda: How was I supposed to know that mom?

Rachel: Because you made an emotional decision instead of an executive one.

Amanda: Say what you're gonna say.

Rachel: Your attraction to Allen. You've let it put your father's company into a huge hole that we may not be able to dig out of.

Amanda: So you don't trust me?

Rachel: From now on I will make all final decisions on contracts. Nothing gets approved without my consent.

Amanda: So it's true, you're gonna strip all the power from me.

Rachel: You have not proven that you're capable of handling it.

Amanda grabs her purse and jacket.

Rachel: Where are you going?

Amanda: When it rains it pours doesn't it? I just got the final divorce papers from Cameron, and then you demote me. I don't think I can take much else.

Rachel calls Amanda back after realizing that she may have laid it on too thick, but Amanda has already left.

REGINALD'S SUITE

Reginald opens the door to Iris, who walks right in.

Reginald: What are you doing here?

Iris: Hello to you, too big guy.

Kirkland: What do you mean?

Jake (interrupting): Bridget felt more comfortable living with Donna. She's torn up over her sister's death.

Kirkland: I can imagine. She's at Donna's right?

Vicky: Maybe seeing you might help her, because she needs it.

Kirkland: Why is she even there? I mean I thought she would be here with you and Jake.

Jake: Your mother didn't want her here. She blames Bridget.

Kirkland: Mom Bridget would never kill her sister.

Vicky: I know that she didn't kill Michele, but Bridget was very jealous of her, and she did some unsavory things.

Jake: Can you excuse us Kirk?

Kirkland: I'm gonna...head to Donna's and see my sister.

Vicky (watching Kirk leave): You are in such denial about the things is Bridget is capable of. That's why I don't want her in this house.

Jake: She's not some random woman in the street, she's our daughter...and you speak about her like she's not.

Vicky: It's the daughter part that scares me the most. The lengths she went to hurt Michele concern me.

Jake: So sending her to live with Donna, which was mostly your idea, is gonna solve your concerns?

Vicky: I need to clear my head about her.

Jake: I don't understand this. We're a family. We need each other more than ever. Bridget needs to be here, with her parents.

Vicky: I don't want her here right now.

Jake: I am sick of you speaking of our daughter like this.

Jake grabs his jacket. "Where are you going?" asks Vicky. "Out!" Jake angrily replies as he walks out the door.

Rachel is on her cell phone. "Email me Allen Lovett's list of references. I want to check everything out."

ALLEN'S APARTMENT

Allen has only an A-shirt on as he opens the door.

Allen: Amanda?

Amanda walks in and takes off her coat. She shuts the door, says nothing, and kisses Allen passionately, who returns the favor.

Reginald: This is risky. You can't be seen with me.

Iris: We're behind closed doors. What's your fear?

Reginald: Don't play coy. You know what I'm talking about.

Iris: I had a little tete a tete with Rachel on the day of my release. Gets the blood flowing.

Reginald: I bet it does.

Iris: I will have to undo all the damage that she's done to my father's name and his company.

Reginald: You will have your chance. It's almost done.

Iris: They're so clueless. They don't even know that I set up phony writers, and they're gonna pay me.

Reginald: Seems like a fool proof plan Iris. Just make sure you don't try to double cross me.

Iris (walking up to Reginald): Now come on. You've been such a great help to me on the outside. Why would I want to do something like that? We're a team. What do I need do to convince you?

Iris begins kissing him, and Reginald can't resist.
