You do realize that combined CNN, MSNBC, and Fox draw 10 million viewers at most. So exactly explain to me how these networks are representative of the American people. They cater to old white people. There are no polls or momentum showing Trump having any chances to win Minnesota or Michigan. Clinton had ONE BAD POLL in Michigan and all of a sudden the sky is falling. And in what world do you live unless you glue yourself to CNN telling you Trump has all the momentum. Are you even paying attention to the Latinx vote and what happened yesterday? Good grief Carl I am a pessimist but you really are way ahead of me. Clinton in the last few days has regained her footing. And now there are 2 new polls out today showing her ahead by 1 in both Ohio and Iowa but ok Trump has all the momentum, He fired his pollster so he doesn't have any internal polling telling him anything is reachable in Michigan and Minnesota. And inside sources now say his goal is to beat Romney's electoral college count. And by the way with the close race in Arizona and the continuation of Latinx voters being underpolled and the high Latinx turnout there don't be shocked to see Clinton take Arizona and see Texas closer than projected. And I am going to Iowa tomorrow with many carloads of HRC volunteers to help GOTV there. My niece told me dozens of charter buses were lined up at Clinton campaign HQ in Brooklyn with volunteers going to PA to help canvas there today and tomorrow.

Of course they are wrong and ignore suppression but great news is as of yesterday NC AA caught up to 2012 levels with one more day of EV and Latinos EVERYWHERE including NC are over surpassing what anyone expected. High numbers voting in Florida, Arizona, North Carolina and if u saw yesterday in Nevada and the long lines of Latinos, this sleeping giant has been awoken this election. Word is that even Clintons campaign is shocked at the high Latinx turnout. But anyone paying one bit of attention to Telemundo and Univision would know because they have been hitting Trump and the GOP hard for months. Yes Latinx's pay attention and again like in 2012 are underpolled? That poll that showed Trump ahead in Nevada by 4 had 0 Latinx's polled. Not 0 percent, 0. Asian American vote is up by 40 percent over 2012. These numbers exceed the numbers Obama got in 2008. And dont discount women. We r also the sleeping giant the media has ignored.

Seriously what a clusterfeck. I would love to know why these agents are still employed and not at a minimum brought up on disciplinary action or criminal offenses. These are the people who are supposed to protect us from the crap they are pulling.

It's ridiculous because Clark County, which has 78% of the voters in the state and is fairly democratic, showed Trump ahead by 3 points which is assinine. That's almost as dumb as saying Cook County in Illinois is polling in favor of Trump.

Interesting article on "phantom" poll swings sort of reiterates what Sam Wang has been saying about this being the most stable election in 40 years. https://today.yougov.com/news/2016/11/01/beware-phantom-swings-why-dramatic-swings-in-the-p/

Excellent article by David Frum with the Atlantic on the de-volution of the GOP and it's impact on our country and voters. It honestly helped me better understand the mind of the voter and what I see as warped it really 20 plus years(and more) of disenfranchisement. And explains why many don't care really who Trump is or the abhorrent things he represents. Lengthy read but worth it if you have time. http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2016/05/the-seven-broken-guardrails-of-democracy/484829/

So he's wealthy and doesn't want the tax increases for people over $250K most likely. As for gang problems, I live in Chicago so no one needs to explain to me about gang problems and gang colors and emblems and such. But who is against sending illegals back and how does he even know the gang members are illegals? Most illegals here are working for companies who the Feds no longer go after for employing illegals thanks to St. Ronald Reagan via 1986.. And under Obama there have been more illegals deported over his tenure than those coming in. As for mftg jobs, what's the plan in bringing them back. The person saying this makes all his own products, supplies his hotels with products made outside the US. But the biggest fallacy is that more mftg jobs have been lost to robotics and advanced technology than have left the US. So what's Trump going to do about those. I expect someone who's white and college educated to at least make an attempt to know these things to know it's a pipe dream by a known liar. And if this person has daughters, I'd think he'd be concerned about the sexism and misogyny that seems to be unleashed with this candidate. But other than the tax issue, none of this seems to impact him directly so of course it doesn't matter. And a white college educated wealthy male isn't going to be the one who will suffer. It will be the same white working class people plus many more women and minorities, the same people who are suffering now. Let's just be honest. Someone like this was never going to go anti GOP no matter what. Not a criticism just a fact. Actually I take that back. My brother fits this profile to a T but he has 3 granddaughters and doesn't want them growing up in a world where they matter less.

Aww let me guess your friend is a white male right? Listen I am a teacher in Chicago Public Schools are there are justifiable reasons kids are asked not to wear certain color combinations or emblems much more serious than your friend outlines. And the police. Please. Can we quit pretending there hasn't been racial bias for years(the police force originates from the KKK slave police) and admit this has been going on for years, and just got noticed because people now have camera's and phones capturing what's going on so it can't be denied. There is a totally different world between white males and the rest of us in this country. Maybe if more people on both sides acknowledged that we could get a real dialogue. And it amazes me as to the attacks on the democrats when no one wants to ask themselves why the GOP picked a man who can't beat the seemingly unelectable democrat. There were a zillion other GOPers running against trump including allegedly normal Kasich, and Trump got the nomination

Ok I misunderstood. My family is from Wisconsin and honestly I can tell you people are kind of waking up now to the damage the Walker's of the world have done to their state. They are now seeing their educational ranking falling, job creation in the state is 3rd from the bottom. And I do think Wisconsinites respect Feingold. I have no idea honestly what kind of negative campaign is being run there, but I still believe he'll win provided those voter suppression efforts continue to get tackled and people vote.

I'd agree the race has tightened up over the past 6 weeks and I am glad to see the dems taking action. Complacency has ALWAYS been the biggest issue. But that same Pac also dumped 500K into Tammy Duckworth's campaign(and her TV ads are way up now) and she's never been in danger of losing here in Illinois but I was happy to read that in the Tribune a few weeks back. It shows commitment. I'm not trying to make light of this, but I think seeing action being taken versus taking it for granted is positive. And Feingold didn't lose in 98. He lost in 2010 to Johnson, which I don't think surprised many. As we know the dems got killed that year and have a terrible history of voting in midterms.

Florida has been a tight race polling wise nothing changed there. Frankly each time I hear you talk about all the failing democratic senate candidates slipping in the polls I have to go back to PEC(the site that is closest to most reliable - he did predict the presidential and senate races in 2008 and 2012 all correctly unlike Silver and the GOP primary this year) and I see both Bayh and Feingold exactly where they were 3 weeks ago at 6% and 7%. Feingold is not losing in Wisconsin even with the suppression efforts happening there nor will Bayh lose Indiana. Silver has Roy Blunt behind Landers now and frankly I don't buy that but Wang has put it closer at 2% now. And Rubio's lead in Fl has also dwindled.

So why the letter from Comey to the committee? And why the release of it. 3 FRICKING EMAILS from Anthony Weiners device which they only had because of an independent investigation. The emails were not from HRC or her server. So we have no idea why this is relevant if at all. Disgraceful on the part of Comey. Frankly has the media learned no lessons from their irresponsibility in leading us into a manufactured WMD war in Iraq? And the MSM and press wonder why no one trusts them. Thank heavens for Pete Williams with NBC. Somewhere in teh FBI there are leaks probably because people are upset with Comey's overreaching. And this didn't start with Clinton by the way it's been going on for years under Obama.

I live in Illinois and in what world is Mark Kirk a media darling. The Clueless Beltway Press? Sure he got elected and got a lot of empathy as a result of his stroke which was several years back, but he's been no one's darling here the past 2 years, even if he did come out against Trump and did say the senate should vote on Garland he didn't lift a finger to do anything. That's why as soon as Tammy Duckworth announced she was running, she was immediately ahead of him. Honestly I think I former governor who's now in jail could have run against him now and beat him, that's how much he's hated here now. I only follow PEC now. Silver's erratic numbers and his defensive behavior got me off his site for good. As a mathematician myself, I started digging into Silver's model and while I understand it, he doesn't expose some key components of it. And despite his reputation for being right in 2012, he got the senate wrong and he claimed Trump was going to flame out. Neither happened. Wang's model statistically makes a whole lot more sense and it's been fairly stable this entire election season. Plus he also go 2012 right and also called all the senate races correctly PLUS he was about the only one who actually predicted Trump to win the GOP nomination Read the latest on the polling http://election.princeton.edu/ And his senate race predictions. He's acknowledged that those races are tight and that's why people should not get complacent. I respect Josh Marshall and even Upshot but I don't buy their predictions as strongly as Wang. And Wang is not an attention whore or click seeker. In fact he kind of took a shot at those in his recent column who seem to want to use him as a safety net and to make them feel better. Me I just don't believe in the volatility one way versus the other. Mathematically unless there was some major event or catastrophe it doesn't make sense. That's why so many former 538er's are now with Wang

Thanks for posting. This is truly a testament to this election year An Op - Ed by former Ted Cruz Communications Director on how the GOP has abandoned women https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2016/10/25/carpenter-op-ed/ I hope people here, especially the men read this. I know it's entertaining to make fun of Trump and disturbing to discuss all the awful damaging things he and done and said, it's hard to say what's worse. But for me, like I am sure 2008 was for many African Americans, a call to women. While yes so many minority groups have been pushed aside, looked aside this election, adnd yes it's outrageous that it took a tape with Trump talking about assault to get attention, this entire election has been most damaging and eye opening to women. Even from those by the way on the extreme left, who ignored us and minority groups also. It's not just about Trump and the massive coverage, it's watching and reading millions of pieces ignoring the silent majority. Seeing people wish the 19th amendment was never passed because men know better. I'm not naïve to the fact we still live in a patriarchal society, but to have it in your face on a daily basis is too much. That's frankly why I believe women are coming out in droves this election and saying enough.

Great piece on Hillary Clinton's unfair treatment by the MSM and press. Also discussing the unfairness and oversight of the Clinton supporter, of which I am one and have been so for years. I can't tell anyone here how almost emotionally beat up I feel as a single white woman being made to believe my vote and my support doesn't matter while having to read/see hundreds of stories on the white male neglected Trump supporter. It's not just about the over coverage of Trump and his supporters, it's the diminishing of Clinton and many of millions of us who love and support her. Women, minorities, yes even white men who adore her ignored for the benefit of an alleged "lack of enthusiasm factor". Makes me ill. But those of us so ignored are going to be the ones who are electing our first female president. http://shareblue.com/theyre-already-trying-to-erase-what-they-did-to-hillary-clinton/ That had to be hard for them to admit. I wish I saw it.

That was a great commercial, I love the way that actor talks and lights his cigarette to lend some drama to it all. I agree with everything that guy said, but my point wasn't vote for Trump, my point is the fact Trump went to parties made it to news sites is why 99% of all qualified people cannot run for office. Let him who has never gone to a party cast the first stone I guess, and if they never went to a party I'll never vote for them. The churchgoing mentality of america makes me sick. "Oh my god, he had sex!" "Oh heavens, he tried drugs!". Somewhere out there is a guy perfectly qualified to be president but he can't run because he didn't grow up in a convent. Bill Clinton was elected president twice and I don't recall his convent like upbringing and background. I'm trying to see one person who's attacking him for going to parties in the 80's. There is a big difference between going to a sex party and forcing yourself on women. Or is someone at the age of 59 still a kid claiming he kisses women forcibly and grabbing their genitals? The only reason these women allegedly came forward was because he claimed it was only talk and he'd never done what he was discussing. None of them are suing him. And please with the nonsense this is a conspiracy. Just maybe women are tired of being discounted time and time again. Bill Cosby had over 40 women come forward, and there are still people who defend him

And Goldwater was beat in a landslide. My father who is gone now was a lifelong republican(well until GWB - he liked and voted for Clinton and Gore and of course FDR) and even he was unable to vote for Goldwater. In later years he said he scared the *hit out of him and had no idea how his party(he was more an Eisenhower republican) could put someone like this steps away from the Presidency. But I also believe people who survived WW2 and served(my father was in Europe and Germany) saw firsthand the dangers of lunacy and extremism in power. I think it's why it disturbs me so much when there are those who seem so impressed by Trump's flamboyancy, ignoring what's behind that is someone who's likely at best a sociopath at worst a monster. This is not entertainment it's the most powerful job in the world and laughing at someone who could likely lead to the nuclear destruction of the world is not something I find particularly humorous. People so impressed with Trump's rise to the top of the GOP(like rising to the top of a group of lunatics means something) are going to wonder why Trump's businesses are suffering. His lovely new hotel in DC has cut rates in half due to low occupancy. Heck the World Bank had their meeting in DC 2 weeks ago and not a hotel room to be found except at his hotel which still sat half occupied. Anyone believing the genius Trump's businesss aren't suffering is fooling themselves. And boycotts have been started with retailers who sell Trump or Ivanka Trump products. Now whatever media empire they start to target his racist, misogynistic, and xenophobic base may salvage them, but the brand is basically destroyed. In fact they are planning on naming the new hotel chain Scion(I doubt that will matter in the end). And sadly his children who I thought better of(at least Ivanka) seem to fit the same mold.

The Walking Dead: Discussion Thread
I think the problem the show faces is they have to somehow make the conflicts these people face even bigger than the last one. I don't think that is necessary, just different. So you had the Governor(a more complex and interesting villain in a weak story IMO) who was clearly sociopathic and now you have to top that by getting someone outright crazy. That's what I believe the show feels it needs to do. Not me. But I am not one who thinks the blood and gore is all required. Unpopular but my favorite season is still the one they spent on the farm. Frankly while I know people loved Glenn and Maggie, I'm glad he's gone. They gave him more than 9 lives to the point it had gotten ridiculous. I'll miss the character but IMO it was time. Abraham gone - zero impact.

Early voting actually started on Sept 29th but there were a limited number of sites open. Tomorrow starts widespread early voting. Normally 9 to 12 and 1 to 4 on weekdays and I believe 9 to 1 on Saturdays. Early voting is supposed to go until Nov 7th. Just to note as I was browsing it seems some locations have different hours and dates. But I think it you use this search engine you will find multiple sites close to you and then you can decide which works best for your timetable. Some are open for a week where others are open until Nov 7th with longer hours also Here is the site where you can locate an early voting location close to you. http://www.elections.il.gov/VotingINformation/EarlyVotingLocations.aspx Hope this helps Congrats to The Cubs!!!! Thanks. I'm not a big Cubs fan but as a resident of Chicago you can't help but get caught up in the excitement. And it's a grateful distraction from the election crap.

Early voting starts tomorrow in Illinois and I plan on voting tomorrow. Despite the multitude of problems Illinois has, voting is not one. I am proud to say we have one of the most progressive voting registration and voting process in the country. Starting during primary season, we actually have same day registration, meaning you can register and vote on the same day including election day. My neighbor is an election judge and was in charge of registrations at her polling site in the primary and said that they had about 200 people who registered on election day. And it was bumpy as expected considering it is Illinois and it was the initial rollout. Hopefully it goes much smoother once general election voting starts, but there has also been a huge voter registration effort in Cook County and the Rockford and Springfield areas. Also oddly Bloomington-Normal in the center of the state(which is normally GOP) except this pocket is a college town and with State Farm's corporate HQ there, a lot of young urban professionals. When I see the lines in places like North Carolina it makes me almost cry but I can't be prouder of people willing to give up so much of their time to ensure that their vote matters.

Would you say that N. Virginia is more left-leaning or more conservative? I have lady friends who have registered to vote for the first time, or are voting for the first time in years. The irony.....that women who he treats like utter trash is going to show him and the world who REALLY has the voting power in this country. Amen. I really believe this is the year of the woman when it comes to voting. The early voting numbers are encouraging. I think Michelle Obama's speech along with HRC taking a strong position on pro choice at the debate really resonated with women. People want to diminish our voices. Let them try to silence the silent majority at the voting booth.
