"THE LIGHT" Executive Producer, Josh Hawkins announced last week that Dan Gobble, longtime "Guiding Light" fan would be joining the SONBC blog effective immediately. Recently an interviewer with SONBC sat down with Gobble for his first interview in the position.

SONBC: Congratulations on joining "THE LIGHT".
DG: Thank you. It is a pleasure to work with Josh to bring the SON viewers an alternative to the tepid daytime world of today.

SONBC: Tell "LIGHT" readers why you have decided to join the blog now?
DG: Quite honestly, I was inspired by David Kreizman's previews for 2007. This is a banner year for the show with its 70th Anniversary next month. It was horrible, in my opinion, to see such awful projections for such an important year in GL's history. I joined with Josh to give justice to the show and also to give viewers an escape.

SONBC: Will "TL" also be celebrating 70 years of Springfield throughout 2007?
DG: Josh and I have extensive plans to celebrate the 70th anniversary. We are honored to be given the opportunity to celebrate this milestone with the viewers. They have followed this show for so many years, so they deserve to be rewarded for their intense devotion to the citizens of Springfield

SONBC: As a new co-head writer what are some of the plans that you and Josh have worked on to address the 70th year?
DG: We plan to celebrate the longevity of the show by bringing the viewers the same character-driven drama and family-filled storylines that they are used to. However, one of the challenges of soap writing is the balance between respecting the show's history and moving forward to keep the show fresh. In the spirit of moving forward into the next 70 years, Cedars Hospital will be undergoing a remodeling, which will involve the entire town. Furthermore, we will continue to use the characters that the fans have grown to love in storylines with warmth, heart, love, and community.

SONBC: The LIGHT had a slow start in the end of 2006 and some stories are in place, do you think some things will be rewritten to facilitate new stories?
DG: The Light has built a strong foundation for future storylines. We began our run by tying The LIGHT together with the storylines from 2003. Now that they are taking care of and that foundation has been laid, we are able to build on it to craft powerful storylines that the viewers will enjoy.

SONBC: With new writers usually come new characters. Are we going to see that with your arrival?
DG: When I first came on the show, I looked at the canvas as a whole. At this point, I feel that we have a strong canvas full of interesting three-dimensional characters that the audience enjoys. It would be counterproductive to shove new characters that the audience's throat.

SONBC: Currently scheduled for a return to the “LIGHT” canvas is three returning veteran characters, Alan-Michael, Lucy and Hope. How will they interact with the rest of the canvas and when do you anticipate their arrival?
DG: Each of the characters bring with them significant relationships with the canvas. Their returns will bring a great deal of drama to the town of Springfield. I suspect the returns of A-M and Lucy will be sometime shortly after the first of the year as the couple will be involved in the anniversary plans.

SONBC: In the past you have been very vocal about your dislike for certain characters that remain a big part of “THE LIGHT” cast, how do you feel about crafting stories for them?
DG: As a writer for the “LIGHT”, my personal dislike for certain characters does not mean anything. My obligation is to create stories for the characters that the fans love. I'm not simply writing the show for myself. My responsibility is to the fans. If there is something that they find objectionable, I need to be at least cognizant of their concerns.

SONBC: GL has become so many different things over the last few years with each regime change. What do you feel GL is about and how can you capture that through writing “THE LIGHT.”
DG: One of the overrarching themes of GL is hope. Not necessarily in a hokey "everything-will-turn-out-okay" kind of way, as we know that life is seldom like that. In a larger sense, the hope that GL brings is in the "brotherhood of man" that Irna Phillips created the show to emulate. Through the community, we are able to draw strength and courage from each other. I want the show to reflect that hope. Throughout the year, we will emphasize the community of Springfield and how through the relationships of the characters, they are able to send light "into the lives of others" and how it "comes back into their own

SONBC: Finally before we let you get back to writing, throughout the last few years on "GL" interesting characters and fan favorites such as Jonathan Randall and Dinah Marler have been introduced to the canvas. Will "THE LIGHT" be introducing these characters in the near future?
DG: We have planned some intrigue regarding the introduction of some of the 2007 cast in the next year. The introduction of those characters will put a monkey wrench in the lives of Springfield.

SONBC: Thank you very much for sitting down with us today! Good luck with the blog and we look forward to reading your stories in the very near future.
    DG: Thank you!

Look for "THE LIGHT" to return after the NEW YEAR!!

    Breaking News: Co-Head Writer HIRED!

A new era of storytelling is about to begin as THE LIGHT” prepares to usher in a brand new year.

Last week the executive producer of “TL” Josh Hawkins hinted that there were some backstage changes occurring at the blog. Now the EP/HW is ready to confirm that longtime GL viewer and personal SON friend, Dan Gobble is joining the blog team as co-head writer.

“Dan is just the shot in the arm “THE LIGHT” needs to broaden and grow throughout 2007.” Said Hawkins. “I am quite simply thrilled he is apart of my team, it is an amazing Christmas gift to myself, the readers of our blog and to the Springfield canvas!”

So how is this new addition to the staff going to effect current storylines and production? “Production will shut down over the Christmas holiday with episode 31 being published later this week.” Shared the new co-scribe Gobble. “Josh and I are working on continuing certain stories and creating new ones from that point forward.” Gobble continued.

Hawkins who created the “GUIDING LIGHT” fan-fic in June 2006 begins sharing writing duties effective immediately. “THE LIGHT” should return to regular posting shortly after the first of the New Year.

    Josh Hawkins "IN the LIGHT"

SONBC: So tell us a little about what is going on with you personally and about the winter hiatus?
JH: Sure! I just purchased my first home so that is taking up a majority of my time over the Christmas break. As such, "THE LIGHT" will be dark for a few days.

SONBC: We won't be seeing Christmas in Springfield then?
JH: Christmas we'll be seen, granted it maybe a little after the actual holiday, but I have some stuff happening for Christmas, so yes it will be seen for sure!

SONBC: Great! Now let's talk about what has SONBC viewers confused here...PHILLIP SPAULDING, Dead or Alive?
    JH: VERY MUCH ALIVE!!

SONBC: Then explain the last few episodes of "THE LIGHT" where Phillip's ex-wife, Beth and all of Springfield mourned his tragic death.
JH: That was all a stunt! Viewers should think "DALLAS: Pamela's Dream" and you have what we done on "THE LIGHT" for Beth's "IN the LIGHT" episodes.

SONBC: It was all Beth's dream?
JH: Yes episodes 25-29 were Beth's dream! What happened is that in Episode 24 Olivia put into Beth's mind that something horrible could happen to Phillip...something horrible that could ruin her relationship with Phillip if she didn't do something! From that Beth went to bed...and began her dream of "What if Phillip died? What would my life be like?" So that's the angle I was wanting to go for the story.

SONBC: It produced some good drama, that's for darn sure.
JH: Thank you. I wanted to be real with this from start to finish and I wanted the readers to have no clue, which I don't think they did. I made every adjustment that I could to make this seem real with a faux firing of Grant Aleksander (Phillip) and such!

SONBC: Well brava for your hard work! What can you tell us about 2007, previews and such.
JH: Right now we're going through some possible backstage changes. Some that I can't speak of at the moment because the final details have not been ironed out completely.

SONBC: When will we have more information on the shake up?
JH: Hopefully by the end of the week once we return to production!

    SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Over the Christmas break from school I am working on moving from my apartment into my very first house! Yes one that I own! I am very exicted and it is a lot of hard work, so that means I won't be here at the blogs as much as I would like during the next week or so. DSL should be up and working at my new house next Thursday, until then I will be on a dial-up and working hard to get my house into a home! So thank you for patience and catch up on reading the "THE LIGHT."

As soon as I can I will be conducting an interview to explains what the heck is going on with Beth and Phillip, don't miss it!

    Thanks to my readers!!

Three Days After Phillip’s Tragic Murder…
Afternoon of Phillip's Funeral... The entire town of Springfield is at a stand still. Company is closed because of a death in the family as Harley, Gus, Buzz, Frank and Marina arrive at the church for Phillip’s service.

The Beacon Hotel is being cared for by hourly associates as Cassie, Reva, Josh, Billy and Tammy arrive. Cassie enters the church and has a flashback of Richard’s funeral, Tammy takes her hand and they walk in together.

Other citizens begin to file into the church as well as the limos carrying the Spaulding family arrive. India, Mindy, Olivia and Shayne go on ahead into the church and await the arrival of the family.

Alan enters the church first followed closely behind Alexandra and when he sees Phillip’s casket he chokes up and reaches out his hand, saying her name softly, “Alexandra.” She immediately takes his hand and walks to the front of the church and takes a seat. Once seated on the front row Olivia touches Alan’s shoulder, assuring her husband that she is right there for him!

Lucy enters the church foyer…however Alan-Michael is having doubts and voices them to Lucy, but she tells him that Phillip would want him there for Alan, for Beth, for Alexandra…and more importantly for his daughter. Alan-Michael says that he’s not ready for this…Lizzie takes Alan-Michael’s hand and leads him to Lucy, she says that he has to do this, for her. Alan-Michael gives her a kiss on the cheek and enters the church.

Beth is still sitting in the limo as Lillian and Lizzie wait for her outside. Lillian opens the door and tells her that everyone is waiting on her to begin…Beth says that she won’t go because if she doesn’t go inside, then this is no happening! Lillian tells her that Lizzie needs her to be strong now…and Beth finally agrees and enters the church in tears!

With the altar adorned with white lilies…a portrait of Phillip is setting to the left of Phillip’s dark oak brown casket, which has white lilies on top of it. The service begins with Father Ray Santos reading Phillip’s obituary…followed by a song and then Mindy Lewis who reads the 23rd Psalm and then speaks, “A lot of us here today was fortunate to have been loved by Phillip at some point in our lives. I, myself was privileged to have been loved by him, twice over. But no matter how many women desired or had him, none of us were able to capture his heart quite like the way Beth always did. The truth of the matter is any woman other Beth was just a second fiddle. Honey, he loved you…more than he loved anyone. Carry that with you always.”

Amazing Grace softly begins playing softly as mourners make their way to pay their final respects. After all have gone through, the family does the same, however Lizzie and Beth stay behind together. Mother and daughter go to the casket and say their goodbyes...Beth assures Lizzie that the two of them are going to survive this, one way or another! Lizzie tells her father goodbye.

Beth is standing alone in the church…she tearfully declares her love for Phillip will go on…memories begin to flood her mind of happier times...she vows that she will never love another man like she has loved him. As she kisses the casket, she thanks Phillip for always loving her through it all!

Following the services everyone goes back to the Spaulding Mansion for a service and Beth tells Lillian that she has to go lie down for a nap…

Upstairs she drops her earrings into her jewelry box and she sees her wedding ring from Phillip, she snaps the box shut and tells herself she has to move forward that he’s gone. Beth slips on the same nightgown she had on the night Phillip died and lays down to rest. She begins tossing and turning, as she does so she hears two gunshots ring out! And her mind races with memories…Phillip at the hospital, the flowers Phillip was going to give her, the funeral and then she hears someone calling out her name…”Beth. Beth…wake up.”

Beth jolts from her slumber and finds herself in another room that is not at the Spaulding mansion in the same nightgown and Phillip standing before her!

Two Days After Phillip’s Tragic Murder… At Alan’s request Lillian and Beth have moved into the Spaulding Mansion as the arrangements for Phillip’s funeral are being planned. Alexandra asks Lillian if she would ride to the airport with her and Lillian agrees to go with her. As a limo carrying both women pull out of the gate, another one arrives with Olivia who is returning home from a business trip in San Cristobel…

At the mansion Beth comes downstairs into the study where she pours herself a drink. Olivia enters the mansion where Alan greets her and breaks the terrible news about Phillip’s death. Olivia cries out in shock and Beth slams her glass down and heads towards her…Beth tells Olivia that she knew something like this would happen…Alan questions what she is talking about and Beth reveals that Olivia said something would happen to Phillip and it did…Beth announces that Olivia is too blame for Phillip’s death…that she wished this upon the family and it is all her fault!

At the airport while waiting, Lillian questions how something so awful and violent could happen. Alexandra says she doesn’t know and tears up…the two women embrace and Alexandra reveals to Lillian that Phillip had intended to ask Beth to remarry him…Lillian is stunned, but before she can respond Alan-Michael and Lucy Spaulding return home to Springfield!!

Alan goes to Beth’s room and asks what all of that was about with Olivia. Beth explains that Olivia came to her the night Phillip died and said that something would happen…Beth breaks down and tells Alan that she wanted to marry Phillip again and he wanted that as well…she breaks into tears and asks Alan to leave her alone and he respects her wishes.

Alone in her bedroom with Phillip’s picture and a bottle of wine…Beth drowns her sorrows, questioning how this could have happened to her and her children. Beth asks Phillip’s picture how he could leave her and when she finally realizes that he’s gone, forever…Beth takes the picture and slams it against the wall…vowing to never love another man as much as she did Phillip!

In the limo ride from the airport to the mansion, Alexandra is overjoyed that Alan-Michael and Lucy have returned home, but devastated under which circumstances it has brought them here. Lucy tells Alan-Michael that she wants to stop by Company and see her family. A-M agrees and Lucy on the way Lucy is dropped off.

Lizzie who has stayed in her room in solitude since the afternoon of Phillip’s death makes a phone call to Shayne…Lizzie explains that the funeral home has Phillip’s body ready for viewing and she doesn’t want to go alone. Shayne suggests that someone from her family go with her…but Lizzie says they’re all grieving in their own right and she wants a friend to be with her. Shayne tells her he’ll be right over!

At Company…Lucy reunites with her family in a tearful and heartfelt moment. Lucy tells Harley how very sorry she is for Zack and her! The two sisters bond!

Upstairs, a servant tells Lillian that she has put James to bed and that Miss Lizzie went out, Lillian thanks her and goes to check on Beth. When she does, Lillian finds an empty wine bottle, a spilled goblet and Beth passed out.

Alexandra, Lillian and Alan-Michael arrive at the mansion and Alan greets his youngest son with open arms and tears. Both shed a tear as Alexandra moves in to comfort them, in a way that no one else can.

Three Days After Phillip’s Tragic Murder… Lizzie is in her room preparing for the funeral when Shayne calls her cell phone. He asks how she is doing and she tells him that she’ll be all right. Shayne assures Lizzie that Marina, Tammy and he will be there to support Lizzie through the day…Lizzie thanks him and notices James at her door, she hangs up the phone and tells James to come on in…

Lucy and Alan-Michael [Heather Tom & Dan Gauither] awake, their first morning back in the mansion and it is obvious that Lucy is uncomfortable being there. Lucy questions if Alan-Michael spoke with his father last night after drinks about them not staying. A-M tells Lucy that this is not the time to discuss anything like that and while Lucy understands that she makes sure that her husband understands that they will not be staying in Springfield after Phillip’s funeral.

James tells Lizzie that he went to Beth’s room and she wouldn’t answer the door. James also tells Lizzie that last night when he got up to go to the bathroom he heard Aunt Alex crying, the toddler asks Lizzie why she looks so sad. James asks if it is because Daddy isn’t home yet. Lizzie tears up and tells James that Phillip not being home has a lot to do with it yes. Outside in the hallway Lillian is about to enter Lizzie’s bedroom when she hears her talking to James, she stops outside to listen to her grandchildren. Lillian is moved to tears when she sees Lizzie wrap James into her arms and explain to the young child that Phillip is in heaven with the angels and that he’ll be watching over them protecting them forever. Lillian is moved to tears with how well Lizzie has handled herself with James and she storms off to Beth’s bedroom furious!

Alan and Olivia are getting up and dressed as well. Alan tells Olivia that today of all days he is going to need her support. Alan explains to Olivia that he and Elizabeth had a stillborn child, but that does not compare to this, having seen Phillip grow up and into a man, Alan tells Olivia it breaks his heart. Mrs. Spaulding promises that she will be there with Alan every step of the way!

Lillian storms into Beth’s bedroom and slams the door, but it does not seem to faze her and Lillian picks up the empty wine bottle and throws it against the wall, jolting Beth from her drunken slumber! Lillian tells her daughter, “If you think I’m going to allow you to wallow in this bed all day and let your children, who need you, now more than ever…then daughter you are out of your mind.” Lillian strips the sheets off of Beth’s bed and tells her to get up. Beth continues lying in bed saying that she can’t do it and is on the verge of a nervous break down…Beth tells Lillian that she can’t do this and that it is going to have to be Lillian who is there for Lizzie and not her. Lillian retorts, “I’ve dealt with a lot of heartache in my life Beth Raines and I raised you to be strong and independent, to be a good loving mother. So please, please don’t fail me know like I failed you.”

Lillian is setting on the foot of Beth’s bed and Beth crawls on her knees and wraps her arms around Lillian and softly whispers, “You have never failed me. Please don’t ever say that you did or even think it.” Lillian in tears tells Beth she has to pull herself together for Lizzie and James. Lillian tells her daughter to get dressed and leaves the room. Outside in the hallway, she leans up against the door and begs God to help them all!

Beth has finally gotten dressed and is looking for a pair of black shoes in her suitcase when she hears the door open and a familiar voice speak, “Phillip Spaulding loved many women in his life…but my God he never loved one like he did you Beth.” Beth spins around and sees Mindy Lewis [Krista Tesreau] standing there and the women reunite and grieve over Phillip’s death. Beth tells her what the police know about the shooting and Mindy weeps over her beloved friends murder. Lucy knocks on Beth’s door and tells her that the limo has arrived to take them to the service. Beth tells Lucy she’ll be right down and asks Mindy to get her necklace out of the dresser drawer, when Mindy does…she finds Beth’s pistol and questions what it is doing here…

Beth explains that she took the gun from Lillian’s closet years ago after Bradley raped her! Beth tells Mindy that she has to protect herself one way or another…Mindy is still concerned but Beth puts the gun away and locks the dresser drawer and reminds Mindy that Phillip was murdered…and she has to protect her children. Beth turns to Mindy and vows that she ever finds the bastards responsible for killing Phillip, she'll kill them herself! Mindy is horrified and worried, but says nothing. Once Beth is finally dressed she asks Mindy to ride with her to the service.

The family has all assembled in the living room awaiting the arrival of the family limo to take them to the service when India VonHalkein [Mary Kay Adams] arrives to offer her sympathies to the Spaulding clan! As India is talking with Alan, Shayne arrives at the request of Lizzie who wanted him to ride with her to the service!

CBS Primetime Star Sees "THE LIGHT"

STILLWATER, OK - As previously mentioned earlier this week (See Story) a rumor began making the rounds that an actress from a hit new fall CBS primetime show would be joining "THE LIGHT" cast in a short-term role. Casting director of the SONBC blog and series head writer, Josh Hawkins is confirming that indeed the actress is on her way.

From the hit series, "JERICHO" cast and crew welcomes...

    Pamela Reed to the series.

Reed who currently stars in the freshman series, "Jericho" has signed onto the SONBC blog for a limited run, about five weeks. "I have been a fan of Pamela's for years." Shares Hawkins, "And while watching her in "Jericho" I just knew that I wanted her for a role on the blog."

And what role is that? "Ms. Reed will be playing a character named Sandra who first interacts with Olivia [Crystal Chappell] beginning on Friday, December 16th. Reed will most likely exit "THE LIGHT" sometime near the end of January 2007, as "Jericho" returns in February.

"This story is an exicting one! It will incorporate Ed, Holly and Hope as well. Look for Mel and Michelle to play a key role as well." Smiled Hawkins, "I think I've said to much as it is."

Harley fills Cassie in on what has occurred with Gus and the women talk about that and later about Blake and her problems with Ross and Holly. Cassie then tells Harley she is having men problems as well and Harley questions if she is talking about Danny. Cassie says that she has invited him to dinner a few times but it’s not any use…Harley suggests Cassie try something non-romantic, like work, mixed with dinner giving Cassie an idea…

Phillip asks what has made her act this way because it does not seem very Blake like. She asks him if you ever really get over the one…your soul mate…then Blake says look who she’s asking, Phillip, who married and left half the women in Springfield for his soul mate. Blake says she go home…wherever that is, leaving Phillip very confused…he pays the tab and leaves to go see Beth…

Danny is shaving when Tony also appears to him…Danny questions why he is there and Tony says he knows why…Danny questions, “Marah?” Tony says they need one another.

Olivia asks when Beth is going to wake up from this dream world she is in and realize that Phillip Spaulding is the best thing that has ever happened to her. Olivia tells Beth that Phillip is a catch and the sooner she realizes that the better off she’s going to be…Beth asks Olivia what that means and Olivia tells her that something could happen to Beth, to Phillip and then she would have to live the rest of her life without him…Olivia asks if she is willing to do that…

Marah comes into the living room where she finds Danny in the living room with a roaring fire…he tells her that it’s starting raining outside…Marah sits down and tells him that she feels comfortable here…almost safe…Danny tells her it has a weird feeling to it and she says that it most certainly does…as she moves in to kiss Danny…

After Olivia leaves Beth tries to lie down and go to sleep, but with the rain it becomes almost impossible and she decides to take a sleeping pill that Lillian has and she immediately drifts off to sleep. BETH CHAMBERLIN
Please Note: This is a fictional interview. It is for entertainment purposes only!

SONBC: Congratulations on being placed back on contract.

BC: Thank you! I'm very excited to be playing more active role in Springfield. Don't you feel the stories being written are very true to the characters history?

SONBC: Of course, it's very reassuring and the feedback is good as well. Let's talk for a moment that all the stories have taken a big step backwards, what are your thoughts on that?

BC: The stories written from March 2003 forward where at times hard to justify. I think this regime of writers realized that and took us back to era that was strong, Gus and Reva's storyline had to be wrapped up but after that it's a whole new world for us.

SONBC: You sound very happy with everything that is going on, could that be because you have a rumored front burning story beginning next week in fact.

BC: I'm thrilled with whatever this regime gives me...so far everyone seems to have amazing work. Maureen (Garrett, Holly) is coming back to the center of the show, Tina Sloan's Lillian is interacting with a whole new town and connections are being established there. This writer writes the women of our series, he writes us strong, independent, flawed...we're all so different and that makes a good canvas.

SONBC: You didn't address your up coming story. Can you at all?

BC: What I can say about it is this: it will be a week long "IN the LIGHT" with my character... (Smiles) People should read and see what this writer has crafted. I have some good scenes with Crystal (Chappell, Olivia) and Marcy (Rylan, Lizzie) who is playing my new daughter...this "ITL" is one that should not be missed!!

Nighttime falls over Springfield as lives begin to change forever… Gus having decided to end the looming questions once and for all goes to Spaulding Enterprises where he intends to confront Alexandra! Harley unknown to him has followed, just as Vera Ginatoni [Jill Larson] is arriving at the request of Alexandra.

Alexandra is about to leave for the mansion when Gus breaks through the door and announces that this cat and mouse game she has been playing with him all these months end tonight…Gus demands that Alexandra give him the answers he wants!

She tells Gus she’ll give him the answers he wants…just as Harley and Vera arrive…and apparently she’ll do it in front of an audience, Alex says as she nods to Vera.

Harley warns Alex to stop playing games with Gus…that he does not deserve this…Alexandra assures Harley she’s not playing games and that Gus’ biological mother is standing right before his very eyes…

Without missing a beat Vera reveals that she is in fact Gus’ biological mother. Gus becomes furious and screams at Vera that nothing makes sense. He tells her he used to know who he was…where he belonged. Vera assures him that he is Joe and Angela Augustino son. Gus says that is what he used to think and pulls Harley over by his side and declares his undying love for her, but says that he can’t commit to her the way she deserves until he knows the truth…Vera glances over Alexandra’s way and she nods to go ahead.

Vera reveals that she was a servant in the Spaulding house when they lived in Chicago and Brandon sent her to bring Alex home when she was running around Europe…Vera says that is when she and Roy Baker had sex…Vera tells Gus that Roy Baker was his father. Harley questions why she gave him up and why the grave…Alexandra explains that Roy began stalking Vera…he beat her once and she feared for the baby’s life, so she helped Vera fake her death and place Gus up for adoption…Vera goes to hug Gus…but he rejects saying that none of this makes sense and he needs time to process…he leaves as Harley warns Alexandra and Vera that if this isn’t the complete truth, they’ll have to deal with her.

After they’re both gone Vera takes her money from Alex and asks why she is doing this. Alexandra says that when her children get close to her…they get hurt or she hurts them…much like Gus is hurting now…but assures Vera that over time the hurt will go away and it will only last awhile and not lifetime…Vera leaves and alone in her office, Alexandra Spaulding begins sobbing and breaks down!! ~COMING THIS WEEKEND~

Nighttime falls over Springfield as lives begin to change forever…
Same Day as Episode 20 & 21 Rick arrives at Outskirts where he finds Phillip waiting on him. Phillip asks how Rick is doing and notes that he didn’t sound very good on the telephone earlier that evening. Rick fills in the missing pieces regarding Roxie that Phillip didn’t already know…he also tells him how Mindy saved him from himself and finally about Mel…

At the Bauer house…Mel has fallen asleep on the sofa while watching television and doesn’t hear Ed and Michelle come in from a late dinner. Ed inquires about Michelle and how she’s been feeling lately. Michelle tells her father that she is fine and reassures him that her episode in Washington D.C. was just because she wasn’t getting enough sleep…which she says she needs and head upstairs to bed…leaving Ed alone in the kitchen where he hears a frantic Mel wake from what appeared to be a nightmare…

Harley manages to catch up with Gus at the house and asks him how he is feeling. Before Gus can respond Vera arrives…

Her plane having been delayed in Oakdale, Lillian is just now arriving back home in Springfield, as a thunderstorm appears to be rolling in. As she is driving from the airport to home, she suddenly realizes she has a flat tire. Lillian soon learns that she has a jack…just not a spare tire when a car stops to help her…

Reva says she has let her children down over the years and Marah was right on the money regarding Dylan and Jonathan…Josh tells Reva that Marah is in a difficult place at the moment dealing with Tony’s death and that over time she’ll forgive Reva. She thanks him for being there supporting her through all of this…Josh tells her there is not any other place he would want to be…the couple kiss and later make love!

Phillip inquires about what is wrong with Mel and Rick says that she has been acting weird lately. Phillip urges Rick to give her time, let her deal with Roxie on her own terms and for him no to push her. Rick says that he wants to do that but he really wants to start a family with Mel and he’s not sure if she wants that. Phillip suggests that maybe Mel is feeling afraid, with Rick’s heart condition and her being stalked…he suggests Rick let it wait out awhile longer and then suggest the thought to Mel. Rick thanks Phillip for the talk and leaves…

At Olivia’s bar in The Beacon, Henry Coleman is enjoying a martini when Blake arrives. She questions, if he has what she asked for…which Henry assures he does and hands over a digital camera with pictures of Ross and Holly at Towers. Blake pays him, drops the camera in her purse and leaves…

Vera tells Gus that she has his adoption papers and assures him that everything with the Joe and Angela was legal. She says that his father was a good, honest man…that understood why she did what she did. Vera says that Joe helped her fake her death and that she did all of that to assure that Gus had a good life, which he did. Vera says that her coming here changes his past, not his future. Harley scribbles her telephone number down on a small piece of paper and tells Vera to call them tomorrow, that she and Gus need time to process this information. Vera tells Gus she does want to get to know him better and then leaves, as Harley leads Gus upstairs to bed.

Ed gives Mel a warm cup of milk and asks if she wants to talk about it. Mel says that it was just the same dream she has been having for the last couple of nights…as Rick steps into the kitchen, unnoticed…Mel says the dream is the same thing over and over again, Roxie running her down. Ed says that she needs something to take her mind off of everything, Ed suggests that Mel help him plan an old fashion Bauer Christmas, the ones like Maureen used to host…he says it would be good for her, Rick, Michelle and especially him. Mel agrees…as Rick wonders outside if Mel is being distant because of him!

Lillian is glad to see that behind the wheel of the car is Billy Lewis. After searching through his car Billy realizes that he doesn’t have a jack either. As the storm sets in Lillian calls triple A and they say it will be an extra 60-90 minutes, Billy suggests that he offer her a ride, but she tells him the triple A operator told her not to leave the vehicle, then much to her surprise Billy says he’ll wait with her…as he climbs into Lillian’s car she splits a candy bar and the two begin talking and laughing!!

Blake arrives at Outskirts and orders a shot of Jack Daniels…slams it and takes another one! As the bartender pours it for her, Blake begins cursing aloud, “Son of a bitch…” over and over until Phillip questions if she kisses her children with that mouth. Blake turns to him and displays a devious smile…Blake asks him if she’s changed over the years…that Phillip has known her for a very long time, when she was good and bad…Blake questions why bad things happen. Phillip says that he doesn’t really know and doesn’t really have time to figure it out with her…Blake downs her Jack Daniels and tells him that he’s a son of bitch and a nephew of a bitch as well, but then again if the seed is bad…Phillip says he has no idea what she is talking about and leaves…headed towards Lillian’s house to see Beth… ~COMING THIS WEEKEND~

    "OLTL" Alumni Sees "THE LIGHT"

STILLWATER, OK - After only appearing in one episode as Dr. Braxton O'Dell soap newcomer Jason Campbell was given his walking papers last week, inside sources are reporting.

Campbell who joined the series during Episode 014 (11/17/2006) was told Friday, November 24 that his services to the SONBC series, "THE LIGHT" were no longer required and that his character would be recast.

Details at this time are still unclear of why the young actor was let go, some sources are reporting that it was the traditional storyline reasons, while others hint it could be more than that. Nevertheless, the show must go on and it does, as Jason Shane Scott is set to assume the role effective immediately.

In a brief statement, head writer Josh Hawkins had this to say, "The details surrounding Mr. Campbell's departure are private. We feel very comfortable and confident that Scott can live up to what this role will require over the next few months and look forward to telling the story."

And just what might that story be? Well, the inside source mentioned that Dr. O'Dell has a dark side and could share a close bond with Beth Chamberlin's character, Beth.

Scott who was on the original short list for the character of Braxton will debut in Episode 020 as a medical intern in Oakdale, Illinois sharing scenes alongside Tina Sloan (Lillian) and Marie Masters (Dr. Susan Stewart, ATWT).
