It was asked why Ken Rabat did not remain in his role as Paul Martin.
I think he caught a case of early replacement-itus, which many of the characters on the shows of Agnes Nixon had.
Others characters who had their creators replaced quickly have been:
Dr. Larry Woleck (One Life to Live)
Cathy Craig (One Life to Live)
Donna Beck
Dixie Chandler
Isabel Alden (Loving)
Kate Martin

The article above mentions an actress from All My Children named Doreen Stanzel. I do not remember her.
Was she a friend of Tara's? I watched the show at the time, but I do not remember Tara as having a friend. I do remember that Phoebe kept trying to pin Tara down to the announcement of her wedding to Chuck, but Tara did not want to bother with details (because she was still having romantic feelings for Phil). When asked to provide a photograph for the announcement, she told Phoebe that she would be using her high school yearbook photograph, which Phoebe felt was a terrible decision.
Does anyone know about this actress and character?

The character of Sydney Scott, played by Deborah Steinberg Solomon, was a romantic interest for Lincoln Tyler after he and Amy Tyler divorced. She either owned The Boutique or worked at The Boutique. I was thinking that she was the owner (having bought it from Amy Tyler) and then Paul Martin bought it from her for Ann when they were married. Deborah Steinberg had appeared on Love of Life, The Nurses (maybe when it was airing on primetime) and had had two runs on As the World Turns. Her character on that show, Amanda Holmes, was a prominent character, especially the first time that she was on the show. The actress and the character left the show following Amanda's murder trial. She returned but had little to do except living in and working in the Wade Bookstore. She was a good friend of Dr. Neal Wade (the original owner) and his wife Penny. Neal died and left the store to his widow, but Amanda ran the store after Neal had returned to a medical practice at Memorial Hospital. The actress and Rosemary Prinz, I understand, were good friends. Ms. Prinz kept her decision to exit All My Children after six months just about the time that Ms. Steinberg made the decision to exit As the World Turns. Ms. Prinz told her that she was leaving and encouraged her to join the show.

Actress Joan Fontaine, who was nominated for an Emmy award for her work on Ryan's Hope as show business agent Paige Williams, died this weekend in California.

I think that the policewoman was Giordiano. Lisa Peluso (in her first role on One Life to Live) played her sister named Billie.

Dody Goodman (Martha Shumway) had appeared on Search for Tomorrow before she was on this show, and she was on One Life to Life afterward.
Victor Kiliam was later beaten to death.
Samantha Harper has become a published author.

The article on Justin McDonough above mentioned the oldest daughter of Agnes Nixon. I know that Cathy Chicos (former writer of All My Children) is the daughter of Agnes Nixon. Is she the oldest daughter?

Gail Kobe, who was an actress featured in an article above and was also a producer (Return to Peyton Place, The Guiding Light, Texas, The Edge of Night) died about two weeks ago.

I thought that both daughters of Don Hastings had names beginning with the letter C.
When he was writing, he used the name C. C. Mathew. It was supposed to have come from the letter of the first names of his daughters and the entire first name of his son.

Supervising producer (and former actress) Gail Kobe died this past week.

Does anyone know the exact dates of when Margaret DePriest was the headwriter of the show?

Both Lawrence Luckinbill and Robin Strasser appeared on The Secret Storm.
He played Frank, and she played Iris.

Leonard Garment, a prominent Washington attorney and an advisor of President Richard Nixon during the Watergate era, has died at the age of 89. He was the widower of Grace Garment, who was a writer for The Edge of Night during the 1970s.0 -
Yes, the character of Nigel Fargate died on the show. He was only written out, though. The actor who played him, Alexander Scourby, did not die in real life. He is now desceased, as is his wife, Lori March.
Mr. Scourby appeared as Dr. Ian Northcoate #2 on The Secret Storm before he was on All My Children. Stephanie Braxton (Tara Brent Jefferson #2) was on The Secret Storm with him.

I have two questions about actress from One Life to Live:
1. How long did Jill Voight play the role of Becky Lee Hunt?
2. The voice of Jacqueline Courtney (Pat/Maggie) had a huskiness to it. Was she a smoker, or was this natural?

I am not sure why calling Myrtil "Mrs. Lum" would seem or sound strange.
Myrtil Lum was her name until her wedding to Nigel Fargate (Alexander Scourby).

Paul Jenkins was an actor who auditioned for the role of Aristeed on Dark Shadows. He actually appeared on The Secret Storm and, later, as Professor Parks on primetime's The Waltons.
He died earlier this week.

She chose to leave the show. She had a buisness, and she wanted more time to spend on that.
Because she was so great in the role, I suppose that it was decided to not recast the role. Her death storyline was one of the best in the show's history.

Maxine Stuart was in the original cast of The Edge of Night as Grace O'Keefe. She died two weeks ago. She died the same day that Esther Williams passed away.
She was also on the serial The Young Marrieds.

It didn't happen, which is why I posted the word "almost!" The All My Children producers were initially not pleased with the performances of Ruth Warrick as Phoebe. They were too dramatic, as she was playing Phoebe as a strictly dramatic role.
The threat of dismissing Ms. Warrick is well discussed in her autobiography. She began playing Phoebe in a new way, looking for humor in the scripts and bringing it out; therefore, the need to replace her with Ms. Stoddard was eliminated.

Anna Minot was the wife of actor Joseph Warren, who played Larry Colby (father of Liza and first husband of Marion) of All My Children.
John Devlin later played Jason Maxwell on All My Children.
Erin Connor was the step-daughter of the late Haila Stoddard (The Secret Storm). Ms.Stoddard was ALMOST hired as a replacement for Ruth Warrick as Phoebe on All My Children.

I don't know if these men are the same person or not, but'
an Australian wine maker named Roger Hill has died. He was sixty-three years old.
The actor who appeared in the movie The Warriors and later in the soap opera One Life to Live (and then, seemingly vanished) was also named Roger Hill AND was sixty-three years old.
Is this the same person?

I am very interested in producer Lucy Ferri Rittenberg.
She was the executive producer of The Guiding Light from 1952 until around 1976.
Does anyone here know anything about her that could be posted? Especially when she died (assuming that she has died).
So many performers who later became more famous began on The Guiding Light during her time: Sandy Dennis, Dyan Cannon, Victoria Wyndham, Don Scardino, Christina Pickles, Nancy Addison, Billy Dee Williams, Olivia Cole, etc.
I think that she was one of the greatest producers of the soap operas.

I am suprised that there is so little discussion of Victoria Wyndham (Charlotte Waring aka Tracy Delmar) here.
