If you must know...the one in the back. It's troubling when a person in that position says she wishes no harm...kind of like a wake up call to the nut jobs.

I post videos in that thread that are not on my iPod and probably will never be so it's not the same to me but if the admins think it's the same they can just move this.

What Are You Listening To?
I'm more of a music person than a television person. I have eclectic taste and I know I'm not alone in that. I love trite pop as much as I love songs with deep lyrics. I'm going to share some songs from my playlists and I hope others will do the same. These are from "c:" This isn't the version on my iPod but a live performance... <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/fX9AX79RotQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I'm still not tired of this... <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ymOjaaxRDLU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> From one of Celine Dion's best discs..... <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/c1vuzMuOF7g" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The Politics Thread
Maybe not because he's more of a shake down artist. One day I listened to him turn what was supposed to be a discussion about the violence among children in Chicago into some bizarre proclamation that made it seem as if the government was practicing violence against poor people by beating them with some special poverty weapon. I'm convinced that people don't actually listen that much to what he's saying because he hardly ever makes much sense and/or he doesn't say anything of substance. Or maybe I just keep hearing him on his really off days. I'm not sure that I'd buy the statistics on the Mexican border. Maybe it depends on the bordering state. I happened to see that segment of Ed which you referenced above. It was a sad story and when Ed pours on his extra drama and outrage then it makes it even doubly so. My main reason for tuning in to that show is to see him pour it all on because I find it all mildly entertaining. Some of the sad stories he presents are kind of ridiculous and not so properly researched. I guess it's not intended for viewers to think but merely react and get all emotional and then angry at the government and the Republicans. That couple couldn't have checked with anyone knowledgeable before they left the country. Why would a person think that it was okay to leave before the process was completed? At the very least, she should have sought permission if she did not have a current visitor's visa. Maybe she could have gotten a temporary one because once you leave then it's harder to get back. The marriage way in is not as easy as it apparently once was because they're more cautious of people with fraudulent marriages. I remember a guy telling me once that he was offered $1500 to marry a woman who wanted a green card and he wanted me to tell him if he should do it. One of our local immigration offices has a bunch of employees from a specific nation who do all they can to help anyone form their birthplace. If there are only so many slots available in a quarter then a percentage goes to that one group--all because they decided to get a foothold in the immigration office and some other government agencies as well. One of my co-workers told us how his "people" come over and help each other out and how they seek government jobs and hospital jobs. I needed a form for a relative and the line was such that it would be more than a four hour wait. I asked the same co-worker and he got it for me with no hassle. So there's that connection thing. Outside of that some of the procedures for people who enter the country legally and seek to stay are nonsensical. I don't know if this one's change but a person was required to go to the American Embassy in his/her birth country for an interview before obtaining temporary permanent residence.

Unsung
For some reason I thought his service was at the Forum but I had that wrong. Wow, the Shrine. I haven't been down that way in several months but they're seemingly working on gentrification. I noticed that USC's student housing is moving further and further into neighborhoods they previously avoided. I found Howard Hewett's attempts to keep Shalamar going kind of interesting--especially since he wasn't an original member.

Unsung
According to a former co-worker, James Cleveland used to go cruising in his limo. We used to hear a lot of stories about celebrities and some of our local jails on the west side. Anyway, she said that they changed his clothes several times during his funeral. I guess he has the whole ceremony planned. I liked all the Unsung episodes I saw, though I may have a few of the subjects confused with some on Life After. I remember DeBarge, the Sylvers, Vesta, among others. Jody Watley made an impression on me during the Shalamar episode. I do occasionally wonder about their criteria because I'm not sure that Minnie Riperton fit since she died pretty young. Nor am I quite sure about Teena Marie since I think in some instances, the artists reached the highest level of success they were likely to reach. I know with Alexander O'Neal, for instance, there was the whole Prince falling out which he believes got him booted from the Time. But it's not as if they stayed on top either. It's rare to have those artists that not only make it big but span decades. I've seen Klymaxx on this series and on that VH1 series where they would try to get bands to reunite. I loved that show. I love whenever they get after Cheryl Cooley.

The Tennis Thread
I turned it off after they went to a tie break thinking ND looked taxed. Besides that earful of rubbish about a Brit winning Wimbledon (as if he's that Brit), is him and his awful cuts. I don't know why but he always looks in need of a bath to me. Further, that thing that he does with his bottom lip makes me think of an old man missing his lower dentures. I don't know if he's just biting his lip but it looks terrible and then they flash to the mother and I see the resemblance. If I pick a bird....ostrich comes to mind....but then I feel I'm being unkind to the ostrich. Don't get me started on ESPN. They're always trying to manufacture a star and convince everone that no sport can thrive unless they prop one up. It's a treat when they put down soccer for being unappealing to Americans and lament over what shouid be done to "fix" it. They acknowledge that it's the world's most popular sport but alas it needs work because Americans aren't fascinated by it. Uhm, just let the rest of the world enjoy their sport then. It's too bad they have such a monopoly on so many different sports. The only thing they cannot get their hands on is the Super Bowl and generally the finals of most major tournaments.

Even though it might be obvious that she used or abused the rules and people see it as unfair, the flip side is regulating that isn't so cut and dry. As long as the possibility exists that something could be wrong then the player will have that advantage. It says a lot about the players who do it but the reaction or degree of reaction is proabably relative to the specific player who does it. Azarenka and her LMFAO buddy will always get me to change the channel. Andy Murray has that really great narrative that they can use as a backdrop for any major event but he's not nearly as interesting as that story...sadly, he probably won't be going away anytime soon but I hope everyone else steps his game up and pushes him to the background. I still don't get why the U.S. men's drought since Pete Sampras.

I think the main problem is that observers don't know what the rules are and naturally when they favor someone over another then anything and everything the unfavored one does is suspect. Clearly, you can use an injury timeout to gain an advantage and she used hers to regroup. It may make her seem less of a physical competitor but she worked the rules. Disclosure wouldn't make that much of a difference since people would then suspect a person in Azarenka's same situation as lying. She was winded and saw it all slipping away. The lesson to be learned by her potential opponents is that when she panics, she might possibly take a timeout to regain her composure. Be mentally prepared for that possibliity and figure out how to keep from being completely drained of momentum. I'm not a fan of hers but she did what she needed to do and it might not work as well for her down the road. I have absolutely no reason for being anti-Andy Murray and yet I am. Maybe it's all that drivel about him being some great British hope to which I subjected myself.
