"But I can tell from some letters that some people don't know the difference between reality and illusion. It doesn't stop with me. These people probably think Dr. Martin is a real doctor. I kind of feel sorry for them. They're out of touch with reality and need help." "[Erica]'s like a child -- someone who is 14 years old and never got beyond that." Wow... I find that to be amazingly "candid" of Susan Lucci, considering the Susan Lucci of today. The one who is filled with nothing but politically correct, industry-friendly sound bites. I also find it interesting to read Lucci describe Erica, in essence, as a grown woman with the psyche of a teenager. I doubt she'd say that about Erica today -- no matter how much it remains true.

That 1984 episode was pretty damn good. I like how Brooke took matters in her own hands. That would NEVER happen today. A female character on the canvas would never be portrayed as strong and determined enough to put all the pieces together herself and then proceed to confront her attacker alone. On this show today she'd be wringing her hands while Ryan saved the day. It's funny how 27 years later, women in soaps have regressed to needing a man to be their hero.

"...I saw not a hint of true grief in Miss Warrick's acting, only a lot of absurd writithing on chairs and dreary semi-orgasmic hysterics." All I could do was picture Phoebe giving a lap dance to an empty chair. She's told her daughter was in a car crash and immediately goes and straddles a chair, humping and grinding and moaning...

One of my favorite Erica & Brooke rivalry lines was when Brooke wasn't even in the scene. In high school, Bianca wanted to work with Laura at the homeless shelter, and Erica refused. Bianca wanted to know why, and with disgust, Erica says "It's run by Brooke English, for one thing!" It just spoke volumes to their feud. Bianca could've been offered a job as CFO of Microsoft. If it was run by Brooke English, Erica would categorically forbid it.

We saw him first in New York. It was set up that there was some sort of sketchy connection between J.T. and Laura. So when J.T. boarded the plane to Pine Valley after Brooke, it was played as "what's he up to?" Also, and I have on tape somewhere, the scenes leading up to the crash. While on the plane, Brooke and Edmund were chatting. J.T. was seated behind them. Every time Brooke mentioned Laura, they'd cut to J.T. eavesdropping on her conversation. That would've been too broad of a suggestion if there wasn't that previous set up that J.T. knew who Laura was.
