Yup. I mean, I always hated the show. But no argument there - she is spot on!

Someone at The Mirror invented it. Based on reading some comment on some soap message board how Kirkwood's HO had humour. Or something.

That might be true, but every time EastEnders went dark, they were simply - an awful soap. Every dark tale had tonnes of criticism and generally the viewership decreased.

Who wants darkness?

As someone said that was, partly, because he was too preoccupied with creating media buzz all the time instead on focusing on all the beats of the story.

Santer was both brilliant at times and brilliant awful. It will be interesting to see Kirkwood write for the older, non-teen characters and generally see how he does at a "mature soap". I expect him to sack Dominic Treadwell-Collins, but then again - who knows... I like this pic of Santer:

What is missing now, in your opinion?

LOL at some comments on DS! People are talking about how he'll make EE "teeny", add "pointless cheesy montages" as episode openings, "Gemma Bissix must be wetting herself with excitement", "Hollyoaks has become a joke again since he left", "I think those expecting him to turn EastEnders into Hollyoaks 2.0 or something are being a bit dense", "Going from Hollyoaks to Eastenders you have to wonder who he slept with..." (one answer: "Dominic Treadwell-Collins ")... And more:

That's old. Everyone knows about that "rule". So what?

I've seen both fans and critics criticise, so this is all new to me that the soaps have been better!

And I forgot about the whole "they were never better" thing. Really? All I've seen is a ton of criticism.

I didn't really get this: OK... A completely banal statement. What was the writer's intention? What did he want to prove?

Huntress, how did that primetime mini-soap do? Geld, Macht, Liebe or what was its name?

I've kept up with EE over the years, and like many of the actors/characters, but I do prefer Corrie overall. But don't you think... That even though... This is an end of an era... It had to happen one day? British soaps have a much healthier relationship with their veterans and handle the exits in a much more satisfactory way. Generally speaking.

As if you care! You don't like EE, you're a Corrie fan!
