Vanessa Marcil easily.  I mean she didn't have good chemistry with Ricky, but she had better chemistry with him than anyone else.  She even made Brad Rowe seem mildly not bland.

BH, SBu, KMc are honarble mentions for GH.

On Days I always thought Ali Sweeney managed good chemistry with her pairings.

Deidre has done well with her pairings too.  The only person she has had anti chemistry with is JT's Roman.  And they actually were kinda cute in 86 when he played Chris.

Yeah if we thinking past actresses I would also say Vanessa marcil. Shemar Moore, Victoria Rowell, And Also Kim Matula, Rick Hearst. I forgot Sean kanan.

Good question! I think her archetype has not always been the same. Starting in the late 90s (probably around Brooke's Bedroom), she became "the Siren" - the irresistible woman who leads men astray (this was especially apparent with Throoke).

But she wasn't always like that - in fact, what defined her relationship with Ridge for the first decade or so was that she *couldn't* win him completely, no matter how hard she tried.

Early Brooke I see as "in love with love", she has a pretty self-centered and naive idea of romance (it's all about following her heart) and believes in "destiny". But she is pretty complex in the early years and I can't really place her as just one archetype. I think she saw herself as Cinderella, but she really wasn't.

I can't really find an archetype for the current Brooke either, but that is for the opposite reason - they simplified her by making her a siren, and then she outgrew that role and now the character is just a void the writers are struggling to fill.

This is a very interesting discussion and it made me start looking for more archetypal characters and plot structure on the show! (I feel the early characters are probably richer in that regard.)

So far, these are my immediately thoughts.

Stephanie is clearly the Queen, of course. But there is also a Cassandra aspect to her at least in the early years - she frequently sees what is going to happen down the road but her warnings are usually ignored. Oh yeah, and then there's her very Oedipal relationship with Ridge.

Stephanie and Eric could also be Hera and Zeus.

Caroline starts out as the Virgin type, but mixed with Helen of Troy (the woman whose beauty starts a war).

Ridge is Don Juan (he even has a book of women!)

    Thorne/Ridge - Cain/Abel?

Sally is the clever thief + mama bear + the weeping clown

Clarke is the proud, arrogant, self-destructive creative genius who is brought down by his own flaws (sure there's a fitting mythological person but right now I can't place him)

Macy is a mix of Juliet (to Thorne's Romeo) and Eeyore (and also functions as the Spectras' "straight man" during comedic scenes).

Darla is the dumb blonde (but frequently subverts this trope).

    Katie is the Ugly Duckling.

Taylor is the sage advisor (until she isn't).

A more recent example - Aly is Hamlet.

Lol what about a character like Steffy per say

I know someone answered it already as early as Brooke went after Eric but for myself I would say sometime in 1996 when Brooke went crazy nuts with the dolls. I enjoyed the villainous turn Brooke took there 1997-98 but after that ended she  became absolutely trashy between Brooke’s Bedroom and embracing herself as the Slut from the Valley.

Nancy Sloan’s Katie was annoying throughout the 90’s only appearing as the babysitter for Rick, Bridget and CJ and being a ditzy live in sister/roommate talk to for Brooke. I swear I remember one time after Rick and Amber had their car accident and kidney donation  Katie was helping them and wearing an outfit that looked like a maid’s outfit a la Esther on Y&R.

I think the reason Sally and Macy were a success was because they were some Bell created uniquely for B&B and not a rehash of something Bell had done for Days and Y&R before.

Ahh wasn’t a fan Of the Brooke bedroom arc

I know that when BB tried to make Brooke into B&B's Valley version of Reva Shayne (even having a sort of 'baptizing' of Brooke as the "Slut From The Valley" similar to Reva's literally baptism as the "Slut Of Springfield"), the show truly began to get further away from its origins.

The character that  once had some complexity morphed closer to caricature, imo.

When do y’all think the decline of Brookes character began?

I always thought it was short sighted to kill Ivana even though it was a good story with Macy fighting Anthony for the gun..and Sally being shot.

Mid 90s is the last time the show had multiple stories going on.

I actually agree 1999-2002 was a good era but there was a lower attention span.

I think I want to see Eric experiencing anal sex while Quinn is doing him with a strap on.

It will be so groundbreaking and so modern.

They need to do it and then get cancelled. Finally.

Please God Cancel this disgusting show.

I would never wish cancellation on this show, there’s still 2 million who look forwar to watching this everyday. And there are actors who have jobs. I can campaign for improvement or stop watching but I don’t want it to be cancelled because I personally don’t enjoy it
