Very Strong Number 1 General Hospital and Number 2 All My Children. Another World tanking.

2.12: Y and R Strong 1. ATWT showing some strength at Number 3. 2.19: ALL My Children and GH battling it out for Number 1. Y &R close behind at Number 3. All top 2 over 10 in ratings point.

Strong ratings from the ABC hour-long shows. Does anyone know what was going on then? Another World is tanking.

All My Children at Number 1. Top 3 shows have 10 rating or higher. Number 2 GH and Number 3 Y&R very strong. High ratings for Serach then drops. AW and ATWT still fighting into the Top 5. Put pushed out.

Strong GH at Number 1. AMC at Number 2. OLTL at Number 3. ABC moves higher.

1/15: Very Strong Number 1 GH and Number 2. Y&R also very strong. 1/22 The Young and The Restless at Number 1 with an 11!! Up 1.3 ratings points from 1/15. Very strong GH at Number 2 at 10.7. Strong AMC at Number 3 up. .2 of a ratings point. The top 3 soaps are above 10.0!! Search is strong at Number 4 - solid lead over Number 5 One Life.

6/9, 6/16, 6/23: ABC has top 3 spots. General Hospital a strong number 1. All My Children and One Life to Live strong. Y&R strong. As the World Turns and AW slipping.

Yep. All My Children takes Number 1. A strong General Hospital and Y&R are now Number 2 and 3 and ATWT falls to No. 4. Yes the beginning of the end for Love of Life. ABC is very strong and the AW expansion fails.

Why would CBS do that?

I thought the Corringtons were head writers during the time. That explains the sharp rise. Thanks @Paul Raven

Very strong for ABC, GH Number 1, AMC Number 2 and OLTL at Number 3. Strong Y & R. RH beating AW.

1/1 and 1/8: All My Children solid Number 1. GH and Y&R battling it out for Number 2 and 3. These soaps will be the top 3 for the season. ATWT & AW began their descent of the top 3 and out of the top 5. ATWT and AW's dominance is now over.

Agreed. LOL was about 16 to 18 minutes on average with the commercials getting it to 24 minutes. Basically an old fashioned 15 minute drama.

12/11 and 12/18: All My Children a strong Number 1. GH, Y&R, OLTL very strong and RH strong as well. AW and ATWT begin to lose ground and are pushed out of the top 3 then top 5.

Agreed but I think it may the last time at Number for ATWT. But who knows we shall see.

11/27" All My Children Number 1 with a solid lead over General Hospital. Strong Guilding Light at Number 3 edges out One Life to Live. Nov. 1978 Sweeps: All My Children Number 1 4 weeks. Guiding Light Number 1 1 week. 12/4: All My Children loses a full ratings point and falls to Number 4. As the World Turns and Guiding fight it out for No. 1 and General Hospital is only a tenth of a ratings point behind at Number 4. Another World at Number 6! One Life to Live falls to Number 7 and loses seven tenths of a ratings point.

Fierce battle between All My Children and General Hospital for Number 1. One Life to Live very strong at Number 3.

11/13: All My Children Soild Number 1. ATWT, OLTL and GL battling for Number 4/5. Surpisingly Ryan's Hope close behind. 11/20: ATWT and GL batting for Number 1. AMC close behind at Number 3. General Hospital at Number 8..falling a full ratings point. DAYS beating GH. Ryan's Hope beating GH. Intersting Nov. 1978 sweeps so far: All My Children Number 1 for 3 weeks. Guiding Light Number 1 for 1 week.

Very true. All My Children was the first in 1978 for Erica and Tom's honeymoon. Then other soaps followed. These on-location shoots drew in viewers.

10/30: All My Children Number 1. ATWT, GH and Y&R all very strong and battling for second! 11/6: All My Children Number 1..small lead over Number 2 GH. Another World beating Y&R!?

10/16: ATWT Number 1. AMC and GH battling it out for Number 2. GL and Y&R very strong as well as AW. 10/23: AMC Number 1 GH tied with AMC but lower share. Very strong and competitive: ATWT, OLTL and Y&R...EON beating DAYS?!!
