  1. I'm enjoying watching Dynasty on POP. I have to say though now that we're starting Season 3, I always detested Adam and have never been a fan of Gordon Thompson. Now that I realize he was also a bit too old for the part and looked it (37ish instead of 25), it annoys me even more.

Well, Adam Carrington did pave the way for Adam Newman, Andre Lyon, and really any other long lost/outsider/bad seed son LOL.

  2. Are there any other actors that you think would've played the role Alan well?

Terry Lester. He left ATWT in spring of 1994, so I wonder if P&G maybe considered him as a potential Alan.

Were any daytime veterans considered for Alan when the part was recast in 1994? I'm surprised a daytime newcomer was cast in such a pivotal role.

  3. Are those #1s for Hot 100 or just #1s for like the pop charts? Because there's a difference.

18 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100, the most of any female solo artist. Rounding out the top 5 female solo artist rankings are Rihanna (13), Madonna (12), Whitney Houston (11), and Janet Jackson (10).

Among all artists, The Beatles are 1st overall with 20 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100, and Elvis Presley and Mariah Carey are tied for 2nd with 18 #1s each. Rounding out the top 5 overall are Michael Jackson and Rihanna with 13 #1s each.

  4. As we near the 25th anniversary of the release of Mariah Carey's self-titled debut album (June 12), a look back at her biggest Billboard Hot 100 hits.

  5. i cant remember who it was maybe Finola Huges or Fiona Hutchison. It was one of them. Anyway one of them said that Passions met with a lot of vets when they began casting and the fact that Passions was demanding 5 year contracts turned many vets off.

I remember reading Finola Hughes was offered or considered for the original cast of Passions, can't recall which role though. I'm sure it's been mentioned before that James Reilly wrote Sheridan Crane with Melissa Reeves in mind for the role.

  6. Madonna's last solo radio hit was Die Another Day which was back in 2002.

Hung Up reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2005.

Since 2000, Madonna has had 6 top 10s on the Billboard Hot 100: Music (her last #1), Don't Tell Me, Die Another Day, Hung Up, 4 Minutes (her last top 5), Give Me All Your Luvin.

Obviously, Dame Joan and Stephanie Beacham look the best by a country mile but Maxwell Caulfield and Jack Coleman are looking good too. Leann Hunley has gained weight, but she's still pretty and Wayne Northrup looks rugged. The rest...well none of them look as awful as Bo Hopkins!

Realizing how old they are puts things in perspective. Birthdates found on IMDb.

    Joan Collins: May 23, 1933

    Bo Hopkins: February 2, 1942

    Gordon Thomson: March 2, 1945

    Stephanie Beacham: February 28, 1947

    Wayne Northrup: April 12, 1947

    Pamela Bellwood: June 26, 1951

Pamela Sue Martin: January 5, 1953

    Leann Hunley: February 25, 1955

    Kathleen Beller: February 19, 1956

    John James: April 18, 1956

    Al Corley: May 22, 1956

    Jack Coleman: February 21, 1958

    Maxwell Caulfield: November 23, 1959

    Katy Kurtzman: September 16, 1965

  8. ^^^^^Ms. Garrett is marvelous in that episode. It pisses me off that she never gets the credit she deserves and never won an Emmy.

Maureen Garrett was nominated for supporting actress in 1991, 1992, and 1994. I have no idea how she wasn't nominated in 1993.

Looking at the 1991-1994 supporting actress races:

1991: Darlene Conley, Maureen Garrett, Jill Larson, Jess Walton (winner), Kathleen Widdoes

1992: Darlene Conley, Linda Dano, Maureen Garrett, Lynn Herring, Maeve Kinkead (winner)

1993: Kimberlin Brown, Jane Elliot, Jill Larson, Ellen Parker (winner), Tonja Walker

1994: Signy Coleman, Hilary Edson, Maureen Garrett, Susan Haskell (winner), Sharon Wyatt

Competition in that category was tough those years.

  9. Adam was an outsider who missed out on all the wealth and privilege the rest of his condescending, unaccepting siblings had. He also barely had his father's acceptance or cooperation... Now who does that sound like? tongue.png

    Y&R's Adam Newman.

  11. I can't believe that Terry Lester never won. He was excellent as Jack. It's a crime that Y&R was shut out of the nominations in the 70's and early 80's.

Looking at the 1984-1987 Lead Actor races:

1984: James Mitchell, Larry Bryggman (winner), Joel Crothers, Larkin Malloy, Stuart Damon, Terry Lester

1985: David Canary, James Mitchell, Darnell Williams (winner), Larry Bryggman, Terry Lester

1986: David Canary (winner), Scott Bryce, Larry Bryggman, Robert S. Woods, Nicolas Coster, Terry Lester

1987: Scott Bryce, Larry Bryggman (winner), A Martinez, Eric Braeden, Terry Lester

I think Terry should've gotten at least one win in either 1984, 1985, or 1986. As much as I love Terry and Eric, I don't dispute Larry Bryggman's 1987 win since As the World Turns was at the height of the Douglas Marland years (remember they won 3 acting Emmys and best show that year).

  12. I believe Tracey Bregman was the first Y&R actor or actress to win an Emmy, while Terry Lester was first to get a nomination.

Yes, Terry Lester (RIP) was Y&R's first acting nomination in 1984. Y&R's first acting wins were in 1985 for Beth Maitland (Supporting Actress) and Tracey Bregman (Younger Actress).

    Y&R's Daytime Emmy acting wins:

1985: Beth Maitland (Supporting Actress), Tracey Bregman (Younger Actress)

1991: Peter Bergman (Lead Actor), Jess Walton (Supporting Actress)

1992: Peter Bergman (Lead Actor), Kristoff St. John (Younger Actor), Tricia Cast (Younger Actress)

    1993: Heather Tom (Younger Actress)

1997: Jess Walton (Lead Actress), Michelle Stafford (Supporting Actress)

2000: Shemar Moore (Supporting Actor), David Tom (Younger Actor), Camryn Grimes (Younger Actress)

    2002: Peter Bergman (Lead Actor)

    2004: Michelle Stafford (Lead Actress)

2005: Christian LeBlanc (Lead Actor), Greg Rikaart (Supporting Actor), David Lago (Younger Actor)

  13. 1978 Lead Actress race: Mary Fickett, Susan Lucci (her first nomination), Laurie Heineman (winner), Beverlee McKinsey, Victoria Wyndham, Susan Seaforth Hayes, Jennifer Harmon

1979 Lead Actress race: Irene Dailey (winner), Beverlee McKinsey, Victoria Wyndham, Susan Seaforth Hayes, Nancy Addison, Helen Gallagher

Beverlee McKinsey also Lead Actress nominations in 1977 and 1980 (losing to Helen Gallagher and Judith Light, respectively), but she was never nominated for her work on Guiding Light. Victoria Wyndham wasn't nominated again after 1979.

  14. I think Tracy Scoggins would have been a better recast for Pamela Sue Martin than Emma Sams.

Agree. Tracy Scoggins should've been casted as Fallon, and Emma Samms should've been casted as Monica.

I wonder who else Aaron Spelling considered for Fallon. I remember reading elsewhere that Susan Dey was a potential choice but I could be wrong.

  15. Despite dominating the Soap Opera Digest awards in the 1980s and 1990s, Days does not seem to do as well at the Daytime Emmys. Listed below are Days wins and nominations at the Daytime Emmys:

  16. It's still one of the biggest crimes in TV history that not only didn't Beverlee McKinsey ever win an Emmy, she was never even NOMINATED for her work on GL. Just one more reason why the Emmys have turned into a complete joke over the years.

Beverlee McKinsey did have 4 consecutive nominations (1977-1980) for Another World, but I agree she should've won at least once in the early 1990s for her work on Guiding Light.

Looking back at the 1991-1993 Lead Actress races:

1991 - Julia Barr, Jeanne Cooper, Elizabeth Hubbard, Finola Hughes (winner), Susan Lucci

1992 - Jeanne Cooper, Elizabeth Hubbard, Susan Lucci, Erika Slezak (winner), Jessica Tuck

1993 - Julia Barr, Linda Dano (winner), Ellen Dolan, Maeve Kinkead, Susan Lucci

I think Beverlee could've easily beat any of the nominees there.
