  1. Probably not, since it's never been confirmed that Diane Parish is leaving or has been axed. Though, Lucas will try to off her...
  2. Quotes in this article from Dominic Treadwell-Collins on his departure. Though, still no word on who his successor is. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s2/eastenders/news/a234703/treadwell-collins-joins-santers-lovely-day.html
  3. She's only supposed to be back for a couple of episodes, so I wonder if she'll be pregnant at all, or if the Daily Star just made something else up. I don't think they'd just bring her back pregnant for a few episodes and let her go. If she's back, she has to come back with the child or something, or else it wouldn't make sense.
  4. That still hasn't been confirmed, and since she's only coming back for a handful of episodes, I don't know how true it will be. Maybe she'll dump the child on Ronnie and Jack and Ronnie will finally have the baby she's always wanted. Sam can be a bitchy type, when she wants. Sam is in prison for her involvement in Den's murder in 2004. She was cleared of all charges in that, but escaped to Brazil so she wouldn't be arrested. She's in prison for fleeing the country when she was under investigation.
  5. It's pretty sad if Phil Collinson really does think this way. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s3/coronation-street/news/a234012/corries-david-to-be-centre-of-rape-plot.html
  6. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did. EastEnders was/is also the most widely available UK soap on YouTube in terms of classic material, you hardly find as much classic Corrie or classic Emmerdale as you do/did EastEnders, but looks like the BBC is starting to clamp down hard.
  7. They got similar ratings a few Friday's ago too. They've been holding up a lot better than the other soaps this World Cup season, though. Also, though the ratings fell last night, EastEnders was still the highest rated program of the night, since a lot of people don't watch television anyway on Friday's. They actually still outrated the World Cup match they were against, just slightly, though it cut into their ratings too. From the ratings thread at DS: Friday 25th June 2010 BBC One 18:30 - Regional News and Weather: 4.5m (30.1%) 20:00 - EastEnders: 5.7m (28.4%) 20:30 - Inspector George Gently: 3.08m (14.5%) 22:35 - Friday Night with Jonathan Ross: 3.16m (21.3%) BBC Two 20:00 - Today at Wimbledon: 880,000 (4.4%) 21:00 - Are You Having A Laugh? TV and Disability: 1.27m (6.1%) 22:00 - Glastonbury 2010: 940,000 (4.8%) ITV1 + HD 19:00 - World Cup Live: 5.4m (28.7%) * exc HD: 4.96m (26.6%) * peak: 6.4m (31.5%) @ 20:45 [exc HD] 21:30 - James Corden's World Cup Live: 2.36m (11.3%) Channel 4 21:00 - Big Brother: 2.16m (10.3%) 22:35 - Big Brother: 2.02m (12.1%) Five 20:00 - Extraordinary People: 570,000 (2.9%) 21:00 - The Mentalist: 1.55m (7.4%) 22:00 - CSI: NY: 871,000 (4.7%) ITV3 19:00 - Agatha Christie's Marple: 726,000 (4%) 21:00 - Lewis: 917,000 (4.6%) ITV4 22:00 - James Corden's World Cup Live: 415,000 (2.1%)
  8. Collins was originally hired as the Series Story Editor and then promoted to the Series Story Producer, right? Of course, they'll eventually have to find someone new for a particular position if they keep promoting from within.
  9. Oh yes! Forgot about him. I did like this interview he gave while he was at Neighbours. http://perfectblend.net/features/interview-mattessi.htm He would be the most intriguing choice if they promoted from within.
  10. True, Matt Evans has also written quite a few episodes recently. But then again, I go back to that job listing you posted, it seems like they were looking for someone new with "experience." Daran Little would surprise me, since he's still so new to the show and judging by his Twitter, he has like a million different projects in planning.
  11. Marquess already shuck up the production staff at Hollyoaks, so I don't think he'll be hiring more in that area. The current Story Producer of The Bill is Kevin Rundle, who also has EastEnders experience. He was the Series Story Editor from 2004-2006, which is just editing and had no story involvement. So I wonder if he's a candidate for the show, since EastEnders and The Bill have shared a lot of people in common. Kirkwood's Deputy Producer at Hollyoaks was Lucy Allan. I know no one wants her to come to EastEnders. Can you imagine the psychos at Digital Spy if that were to happen? I'm betting John Yorke will also have a lot a say in this decision too though.
  12. Kris Green saw the upcoming episode where and said that Don and Diane were phenomenal in it. The really good thing about this story in recent weeks is that it has given them material to shine in, especially Diane, who is very underrated. So, I wonder if they've already hired Dominic Treadwell-Collins' replacement. Who wants to bet it will probably be someone from The Bill? EastEnders and The Bill always seem to share crew and writers, and now that The Bill is no more and they were looking for a deputy story producer with "experience" maybe it will happen...
  13. Schedule for next week: The show will only be on for Wednesday and Thursday. Wednesday, June 30 8pm - EastEnders (1 hour) Thursday, July 1 7.30pm - EastEnders (30 mins)
  14. Today's episode: What an annoying ass nurse Stacey had. I'm glad Stacey told her ass off at the end of the episode. That nurse had awful bedside manner and seemed like she was forcing Stacey to breastfeed when she didn't want to. Sad thing is, bedside manner like this is often very common these days amongst doctors and nurses. I'm glad Lucy played Adam's ass and then slammed the door on him. When Lucy is recast at the end of the year, I'm sensing big plans for her, at least I hope so. She could be a really good young bitch. Today's episode was mostly set up for the Foxes for next week when . The Max and Stacey scenes were very nice and calm. If they didn't have such a tumultuous history together and the age gap wasn't jarring, I'd want them together legitimately. But too much has gone down for that to happen. I liked when Janine told Ryan that he was as big a part of her schemes and bet as she is. Maybe it's over for these two for a while, but who knows. Ryan shouldn't think he's much better than Janine, because he's not. I'm glad we got some more Pat/Janine interaction. That last scene when Stacey was about to breastfeed but saw her bipolar medication and stopped was heartbreaking. I think it's only normal that she thinks she'll be a bad mother, given that this is her first child, her problems, and how young she still is.
  15. Apparently, some are saying that he left to go work for Santer at his new production company... I wonder how soon before we hear news of his replacement...
  16. Wasn't it Bronagh Waught who did that interview with him? I really haven't been watching much outside of the Steph cancer stuff. I'll tune in more regularly when Marquess stuff officially starts.
  17. More scandalous report on why Hollie-Jay Bowes is off the show: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s13/hollyoaks/news/a232110/hollie-jay-bowes-sacked-from-hollyoaks.html
  18. I don't know what else they could do with Grant, but then again, that hasn't stopped them from keeping Phil all these years. Though, Grant was always my favourite Mitchell brother. I hope Courtney doesn't return for a long time...
  19. Wednesday's episode started earlier at 7PM. The show was against and beat a World Cup match on ITV, this was as good as it was going to do. The fact that they got over 7 million with that kind of clash and started an extra 30 minutes earlier than it usually does is very good. Also, the over 1 million viewers that tuned into to the BBC3 repeat was very impressive as the show wasn't even that low in its original airing. Also, considering the show doesn't normally air on Wednesday's either. Both Corrie and Emmerdale received their lowest ratings of the year this World Cup season, EastEnders ratings have been consistent and even beating the World Cup matches it was against on several occasions. The show wasn't going to do much better than this, even if it was a hyped up episode, they've been scoring within the same range and their normal range this World Cup season, the other soaps really haven't. The World Cup match EastEnders clashed with actually gained viewers after the clash period was over, even though EastEnders got more total viewers for the night, so I think this was always as good as they were going to rate. http://mediatel.co.uk/newsline/2010/06/24/tv-overnights-bbc-ones-eastenders-outshines-the-football-once-again/
  20. It's better Grant stays away after his last return. I think his story is done. Though, if he was asked and his schedule permitted, I'm sure Ross would make a cameo for Peggy's exit.
  21. I wonder if these hour long episodes help the ratings a lot. EastEnders has been holding its own during the World Cup this year so far, while Corrie and Emmerdale haven't been fairing so well. They're all down a bit, but EastEnders is closer to its normal range than the other shows. I think it's quite amazing that the show managed to pull in over 7 million against a World Cup match and then pull over 1 million viewers on the BBC3 repeat. Also, keep in mind, the show isn't even airing in its normal timeslot for the most part during the World Cup. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/news/a232616/soaps-ratings-roundup-june-23.html
  22. I don't think Ryan and Stacey will be paired with Lacey leaving at the end of the year. If it does happen, it will be short-term. I think the best thing is to keep them close and develop a friendship that doesn't cross the line. Stacey is going to need a friend when she finally sees what a psycho Becca really is. I wonder if this episode is foreshadowing Becca kidnapping or harming Stacey's baby. With Kat/Alfie coming back, Becca will have to kicked out of that house to Jean's liking. Maybe that can trigger something. I do wonder if she'll leave without telling him he's the father though. Or maybe she tells him shortly before she leaves? Harry and Vanessa have an intriguing relationship judging by this episode. It appears that they're both equally nasty to one another in very different ways. Harry's abuse seems to be more psychological, while Vanessa seems to intentionally do things to piss him off and indulges in affairs too. They have a sort of Den/Angie-like dynamic to them in the sense that both seem to be destructive towards one another.
  23. Today's episode was a superbly acted episode. I liked the scenes in the beginning with Max, Abi, and Lauren, and their awkward meeting with Vanessa. Lauren's exit sure is low key though, but she's hardly been on this year, so I didn't expect anything big for it. Does Vanessa have OCD? That's what I got when she went into her house and started fixing the order the shoes and the ornaments in her house. I found her relationship with Harry very intense and interesting. I wonder if she'll kill him eventually. I'm really glad we got some Janine and Pat scenes, it's been a while. They have a really complicated relationship and it's always nice to see them interact. Pat and Peggy scenes were great too. The Max and Tanya scenes were intense, and wonderfully acted by Jo Joyner and Jake Wood. Jo Joyner looks great. Jean (to Becca): How long do you think you'll be staying here Becca?  Stacey and Ryan's scenes were great. I felt so bad for Stacey when Dot came in the room and told her that the baby looked so much like Bradley. I think Stacey wanted to tell Ryan at the end that he's the baby's father but Dot's comments about Bradley and Mo telling her Ryan and Janine was lovey-dovey in the hallway stopped her. I kind of feel bad for Janine when Ryan dumped her at the end, but she kind of brought it on herself anyway. I also thought it's fitting that Stacey had a girl, since the Slater family is dominated by women outside of Charlie and Sean. Becca is psycho, she acts like she owns Stacey. I think Stacey is getting fed up with her too. did you see the look on Stacey's face when Becca tried to take the baby from her? I wonder if Becca is going to kidnap that child. I also thought it was a good use of Julia's Theme. Now, I wonder if they'll give Stacey Julia's Theme again when she leaves at the end of the year. I think Peggy will get it for sure, but after getting it in this episode with her baby, they might not use it for her again.
  24. It really doesn't sound like much will be changing, or changing in a more positive direction. I didn't like much of what he teased, and nothing grabbed me to the point where I would start watching more regularly again. It kind of feels like the show will continue on with the standard Crowther set, even if Collinson wants to think otherwise.
  25. I think Kris Tweeted that there were delays with that interview, but it's done now, and should be ready soon. Maybe next week.
