EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Kat was the most iconic character EastEnders created in the 00's. I would say she IS the definitive EastEnders character of the 00's. No one else comes close. Maybe Stacey in recent years, but Kat really became such a strong presence on the show from the get-go. That's why I can't wait to see her back. I could always take or leave Alfie though. And this of course is still the most iconic cliffhanger of the 00's on British Soap: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgUf9hlTnnU?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgUf9hlTnnU?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgUf9hlTnnU?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Yep. I always thought Michelle Ryan had better chemistry with women than with men. I did like her final goodbye with Kat though, and through all the different regimes, they did a good job at Kat/Zoe's relationship after the mother/daughter reveal, which was the most interesting thing about Zoe. I really hated Wendy Richard's butch haircut. I remember Sharon and the Slater's interacting quite a bit in little moments when Sharon first came back in 2001-2002. And of course Sharon was at the dinner get-together the night of the "You Ain't My Muvether!" reveal, but 2003 onwards, the characters were on different spheres on the show it seems. I know many accused Kat, Alfie, Sharon, and Dennis of eating the show alive from 2003 to 2005. It's kind of funny to see Pat living with Billy. I wonder if she'll go back to living in her own house when the Vic burns down. Her, Carol, and Bianca living under one roof? That should be interesting.

Dennis vs Albert Square After Dennis and Sharon come back after revealing their relationship, and everyone thinks Dennis walked out on a pregnant Zoe. The whole square is against Dennis, Charlie and Kat want to have his head, and Dennis first meets Johnny Allen, who would of course later have him killed. Sharon tries to defend him at one point, and Kat yells, "Don't even think about starting with me Sharon, cuz if you want to stand up and fight in the street, I'm just about ready!" <object width="480" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/video/x800mb_dennis-vs-albert-square-flv_fun?additionalInfos=0"></param><param'>http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/video/x800mb_dennis-vs-albert-square-flv_fun?additionalInfos=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/video/x800mb_dennis-vs-albert-square-flv_fun?additionalInfos=0" width="480" height="360" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always"></embed></object><br /><b><a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x800mb_dennis-vs-albert-square-flv_fun">Dennis vs Albert Square.flv</a></b><br /><i>Uploaded by <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/MuteBanana">MuteBanana</a>. - <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/us/channel/fun">See more comedy videos.</a></i>

According to Ellie at Walford Web, Bianca was never in the episode, so it was probably an error on the BBC online credits list. Apparently, Ryan's mother Debra is back next Friday:

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Ian has had a horrible personal life, and if his marriage to Jane fails soon, he would add yet another failed marriage to the list that he was a big part in its destruction. I think he wishes he had more fun in his life, because really, his life hasn't been the most pleasant. He sees Kelvin with his model girlfriend and glamorous lifestyle living in a fancy house and wishes he could compete somehow. A lot of men have that jealous instinct when they see how far their friends have exceeded expectations in their lives. Ian also mentioned something about "getting out of Walford" to Lucy and Peter if they do well on their exams. Maybe he had aspirations of making it as chef and caterer in a much more posh district than Walford?

Falcon Crest
"Dallas with grapes." LOL! The critics really hated this show.

I think they were saying Ian was surprised to learn where Kelvin is in his life in the present and found out extra information about him in his MatesGate profile.

I'm actually surprised Vanessa wasn't wearing white in today's episode. There's obviously more to that character than meets the eye. She definitely has some OCD disorder.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I think she's been better recently, and has a lot more of that outsider quality. Trying to help Phil when she knows she can't, and telling off Peggy about Phil's upbringing, and cutting the cord from Heather a bit. I think there's more to explore with her, and I think they will.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
She is friends and in that book club with Jane, Denise, and Zainab. They just rarely play her with them when she's all into Phil or Heather's latest problem.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
She was hardly active on the show during her last year or so. I think they just naturally ran out of ideas for her. Because I mentioned it earlier, the special version of Julia's Theme used for Kathy in her 1998 exit: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6mDJ9f31us?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6mDJ9f31us?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6mDJ9f31us?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

I always thought they wanted Dawn as their next big "tart with a heart" but she never had the skills to pull that off and the character was way too isolated and girly.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Kara was very pretty, but that's all there was to her and Dawn. I think the only reason they kept her as long as they did was because of her looks, and let's face it, the show isn't exactly known for its eye candy.

I always liked Gary with the Slater's in those early years. He and Kat had a interesting dynamic.

Heather's probably still around because she's Shirley's only real friend. As long as they keep her as a secondary supporting character, she can be tolerable. Some are saying that an American boyfriend may follow Lauren back to Walford for a bit... Also, I hear Melissa's last episode as Lucy is this Friday (or next Friday if I mis-read it), and her last scenes are with Peter.

Ian mentioned that Kelvin is a successful songwriter now and he has a model girlfriend. It doesn't sound like he has any kids.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Today's show: Vanessa seems to be coming more into her own as a character during this second stint. I liked her little Dirty Dancing routine with Max in the kitchen. It was fun and light-hearted. I also think she has a really nice and cool chemistry with Abi, though Abi looked like a child hooker after her makeover... I enjoyed seeing the Beale's again. The MatesGate stuff was Ian was funny, and it was nice that they managed to work in a reference to Kelvin, Ian's old friend. I also enjoyed Lucy treating Zsa Zsa like low rent gutter trash. I actually like Jane's little interior redecorating. Christian/Syed seemed like an afterthought, though it's better to see them happy I guess. But Syed is still on his woo is me and me me me routine. Sam agreeing to marry Minty for the sake of her baby says it all really as to how she thinks of Minty. I have to say that Daniella Westbrook is doing a better job this time around than she did last year. Overall, enjoyable for a Monday episode I thought. Nothing huge, but building up to stuff that will happen throughout the rest of the week. Oh, has anyone noticed how different and more softer the lighting is on the show these days? The directing has also gotten sharper. I kind of like these little aesthetic changes.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Killing Mark was one of Louise Beridge's stupid mistakes. She said they had reached the end of the line in terns of story opportunities for him, and that Todd Carty agreed. I think that was really a stupid reason. There's always story potential if they're creative enough. Pauline was an unlikable bitter old witch towards the end. I wasn't sad to see her go, neither was Wendy Richard apparently. They could have gone about killing her off in a better way, though.

Apparently, Peggy will be getting her own special version of Julia's Theme in her last episode. The only other person I can recall getting a unique version of Julia's Theme was Kathy Beale. Does anyone know of anyone else? http://www.demonmusicgroup.co.uk/Product.aspx?ProductID=5221

Dear Jessie is from the Like A Prayer album, it was released in Europe only and she doesn't appear in the video (an animated version of her does though). MTV did a contest where a fan would make a video of it, but this isn't that video, this is the one she did on her own.
