  1. Thanks for the reply, saynotoursoap! It's interesting that the show wasn't a community based soap in the traditional sense, I can see why, this really made it stand out amongst most of the soaps at the time.
  2. Thanks for posting, dannigold! It was a great interview overall. I enjoyed this part: Found this part interesting too that the frozen lake stuff was more comparable than the previous fire he had done: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s2/eastenders/scoop/a273087/more-enders-fire-chat-from-lee-salisbury.html

  5. Well, Ronnie and Bianca will be getting quite physical on Monday's episode judging by these pics. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/scoop/a272714/enders-clash-edale-punch-corrie-stealing.html
  6. I wish I could be excited about this. I bet the fallout will probably be brushed over.
  7. You can hear a brief clip of Peggy's Theme (the special version of Julia's Theme for Peggy's exit) here: http://www.musiconscreen.co.uk/preindex.html It's the first song that plays automatically, it only lasts a few seconds though before it goes to other songs.

  9. It's funny though, Kat/Alfie were considered the highlight of the Lousie Berridge era when everything else seemed to be hated on by the press and fans. I don't know if it was Berridge, or because Tony Jordan was still there to take care of Kat and Alfie. It will be interesting to see how they fair without Tony Jordan, he loved them, especially Kat, so much. Even during the tumultuous 2003-2005 period, I can't say much damage was done to her or she was ever really out of character. I think we can thank Tony Jordan for all of that. I think if they're working at the Vic, they'll get a good opportunity for a solid return. It's a place they have history with, and it will place them at the center of the square, and they will easily get to interact with many characters, especially those who weren't around when they were last on the show. I guess they could be a more contemporary Pat/Frank. Speaking of Pat, I like seeing so much of her lately. I hope she won't be on the eternal backburner once Peggy is gone. Pat's presence just makes the show feel like itself a lot more.
  10. I'm kind of sad that Kat and Alfie return two weeks after Peggy's final episode, I was hoping for some overlap, but oh well. I always liked Alfie and Peggy's relationship, he was one of the few non-Mitchells that she genuinely liked and treated like a son. I remember in Kat and Alfie's last episode(the Christmas 2005 episode) where Alfie told Peggy that no matter what, she'll always be a special woman to him and he wouldn't forget all she did for him. Kat and Peggy also had some very strong scenes after the Harry reveal. I remember one where after Kat comes into the Vic with people looking at her strangely and then screaming, crying, and running out, and Peggy went after her and told her that they were both survivours and they had move on from what Harry did to them. Anyway, I hope they won't tone Kat's wardrobe down too much. I know it's been 5 years and people mature, but Kat will always be my lovable tart with a heart.
  11. They met in the nuthouse, so Becca obviously has some mental problems. Also, it doesn't seem like she has any family, which is why Stacey took her in, which might explain why she's so possessive over Stacey.
  12. Today's episode: I thought this was a chilling episode overall, the Stacey/Becca and Peggy/Phil stuff especially. Those confrontation scenes between Stacey and Becca were scary as hell when Becca threw Bradley's ashes at Stacey and it hit the wall and ended up covering Stacey. Lacey Turner, Gillian Wright, and the woman who plays Becca are such great actresses. I really felt sorry for Stacey when Jean had to take her away to take a bath, and then when Stacey was trembling and in tears while Jean was brushing her hair in the kitchen. Jillian Wright and Lacey Turner have a great mother/daughter chemistry. I don't think this is the last we'll see of Becca, she'll definitely be back again soon. Phil's scenes with Peggy at the end of the episode were good too, especially when Peggy told him that he was better off dead. Peggy is so alone with her children against her. The Sam and baby stuff was well-handled too. But Peggy was vile as hell emotionally blackmailing Sam like that by telling her that if she kept the baby, she had a better chance of stealing Ricky from Bianca. I liked how Ronnie, Roxy, Jack, Ricky, and Bianca all got to react to the baby being born and Sam being there.
  13. Today's episode: I love Janine and Pat together and their relationship when it's written for, like today. Out of Frank's kids, Pat's relationship with Janine is by far the most complex and interesting. Pat and Janine love and need each other, but they'll never admit it. Looks like Tiffany is going to take after Janine with her trying to swindle new shoes off of Pat. And then Carol with her "No offense, Pat!" comment. Sam's screams were way over the top, but it was played for comedy. I laughed when Bianca said if Sam wanted an Oscar for those screams. I'm glad Bianca isn't mad about the possibility that the baby could be Ricky's, given that Ricky is help raising two of her brats that aren't his. I kind of hope the baby is Ricky's too for that reason, Jack would be a disgusting outcome. The scenes with Carol and Bianca in the living room before Bianca went to the hospital very well-written too. Looks like Lewis stood Carol up for some reason... Jay sure grew taller since we've last seen him...
  14. There's also spoiler about Charlie during the week before Kat and Alfie return, and the week after the fire. So, I wonder if Kat returns to be there for her father?
  15. Kat and Alfie return on the week of September 20th, and looks like they're featured a lot throughout that week:
  16. Today's episode: I don't think many fans get the point about Jane's reaction and plot for revenge. It's about Jane hurting Ian the same way she feels he hurt her. It's not really about stealing from Ian and lying to him. It's about keeping secrets and lies from him over time and then hitting him with it when he least expects it - like what happened to her when she found out about the abortion and that everyone knew about but her. Plus, Jane already showed signs that she wasn't all there earlier in the year when she crying and whining constantly about not being able to have a baby, to me, that was the real character destruction. I can understand Jane wanting to get back at Ian using his own tactics. The show isn't going out of its way to ruin Ian either, they're showing him still in a very positive light. Denise is there to second-guess Jane too, so obviously the show is recognizing that what Jane is doing isn't the best way for her to handle things. Lots of nice character interactions in this episode as well. The Dot and Pat scenes were hilarious, I'm glad Dot is back to being the town gossip. I think Kirkwood just gets Dot. Lewis and Carol were cute just walking around, and I laughed when Bianca walked in and Carol and Lewis were coming down the stairs after they had just had sex. Bianca's line about Lewis' fly being open. I'm glad the the show is showing the good part of Carol and Bianca's mother/daughter relationship now. So glad they're not yelling at each other in every episode now. See, I told you guys that Carol just needed a man and needed to get laid. The Lewis and Liam interaction was unexpected and nice. Same with Jordan's interaction with Ricky. Jordan is an annoying kid, if I were Denise, his ass would have been in foster care or placed with one of Trina's relatives long ago. But I'm glad they're still playing the effects of the Lucas drama with Denise and Jordan. Becca is a piece of work, and I am feeling sorry for Jean. Too bad Santer didn't know what to do with Becca much earlier in the character's run, because this story with her turning Stacey away from Jean would have played out better if they started it earlier and showed Becca's manipulative side more. The overall community atmosphere and characters bumping into one another and just talking feels a lot more natural and consistent these days. I think the show is gelling and finding its groove again after that lull it experienced after the Live episode in February.
  17. Some new promo shots: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s3/coronation-street/news/a269837/in-pictures-corries-autumn-promo-shots.html Kym Marsh is in the middle of the main one.

  20. The first two Freshers episodes are uploaded... http://www.youtube.com/user/tvmogel08 Is Doug played by a real American actor, or is it another Vicki Fowler situation?
  21. I think they always planned to bring Sam back before Peggy left, and a lot of stuff in motion now was planned months before Kirkwood took over (behind the scenes) on March 1st. I guess the final execution of it is Kirkwood. Oh, Stacey mentioned that Charlie and Big Mo went to visit Belinda. I wonder if Charlie goes to live with her when he's written out? She was always the most mysterious of the Slater sisters, and her brief stints were always hilarious when she was on in the early 00's.
  22. No, though there was always the possibility. She wasn't on again after January when she was settled in prison. Most people found out when Peggy did.
  23. Today's episode: I loved those beginning shots of the episode where everything was empty, it added to the realism that it might be a bank holiday. The directing choices on the show have been very solid lately, one of Kirkwood's most noticeable improvements. Becca is a disgusting cow, but somehow, I actually like the actress that plays her. She's playing the hell out of this limited character. I can also see how Stacey in her vulnerable state would be manipulated by someone like that. Though, Stacey is beyond stupid to even consider going off her bipolar medication. I did feel sorry for Jean with this whole thing though. I loved Denise in this episode and when she was trying to talk some sense into Jane. Given what Denise has just went through with Lucas, it makes sense that she wouldn't think Ian and Jane's marital problems are as grand as Jane is making them out to be, though of course to Jane, she's very hurt by the whole thing. Bianca and Ricky seemed more like their 90's versions in this episode - that's a good thing. I also loved Kim with Carol/Bianca/Ricky. Kim works very well as the eccentric talk-to character that people can go to for laughs and advice. Good for Carol that she got a job at The Bookies, but this means she'll be answering to Pat as ultimate boss, right? I know Sharon still owns The Bookies and let Pat run it for her, but not much has been made of it in a while. It's been said before, but Daniella Westbrook is a lot better this time around as Sam than she was last year... Not a lot happened in this episode, but the overall character interactions and conversations were good and made everything come alive. It's a nice contrast to the upcoming weeks and episodes, which are sure to be explosive, figuratively and literally.
  24. I hope with Kat's return and Charlie, Jean, and Stacey leaving this means that they'll write Big Mo as less of a caricature now when she appears. She was very good with the original Slater girls, and then with Stacey. However, since Jean came on and none of Charlie's daughters were on the show anymore, Big Mo and Charlie's role on the show has been really irrelevant. I also hope they use Charlie and Kat together a lot during Charlie's final months on the show. I guess they could also write Charlie out by having him reunite with Brenda? They'll be no one with the Slater last name left on the by the end of the year - the 10th anniversary of their introduction, Kat's a Moon now, and Big Mo's a Harris. I wonder if there's another Slater cousin out there, or as I think you mentioned before, they'll bring in a younger relative of Big Mo's, probably unlikely since they're bringing in a new cousin for Alfie.
