Kat tied Zoe's record of 5 consecutive duff duffs tonight. Strange, given they're mother/daughter.

Today episode: I didn't see Kat punching the sh!t out of Alfie coming at the end when he told her he bought her the Vic. Kat and Alfie have brought some fun back to the show with them. Stacey seems to have lightened up with them back too, and she was very calmer than usual in her scenes with Max towards the end of the episode. Shame Stacey didn't get to introduce Kat to Max though. You just know Kat was never going to take any of Bianca's sh!t, not that Kat's customer service skills were any better, she served drinks the same way at the Vic during her first stint. I enjoyed the scenes between Alfie and Dot, and with Dot filling him in on all that's happened since he and Kat left. The Phil/Alfie scene in the beginning was also a nice touch, since the Mitchell's did like Alfie a lot. Nice that they remembered that Alfie got on well with Ian and Jane. I hope that Alfie and Ian share a scene soon. Strange that they've put Jane's revenge plot on Ian on the backburner and today's scene between Jane and Alfie is all we get in regards to Jane. Good that they remembered that there was always an underlying tension in Kat's relationship with Charlie. Too bad that scene with Charlie and Kat in the Slater livingroom didn't go on a bit longer longer. It's the soft/vulnerable moments that makes Kat so great too. Anyone going to watch the Kat and Alfie Revealed Special that aired on BBC3 tonight? I'm off to try to find the torrent or see if it's on YouTube!

It could be more than a lovechild story, it could also just be a rekindled love story, and she could have other details on Billy's past, his younger years in particular which hasn't really been explained all that much. I don't know what Kirkwood's target age is for the show, he's gotten rid of half of the original boring E20 set, and most actors he's cast or brought back so far are over 30.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Today's episode: So glad we got some good Kat one-liners. Kat has brought an air of fun back with her to the show. Roxy: I've got my eyes on you! Kat: Sorry love, I don't do blondes! And then when Kat back to the Slater house and said, "I've just wrestled one of Bananarama in the bookies!" Kat's return also seems to have loosened up Stacey a bit, she's not as constricted and tight all the time. Though, I'm sure that will change before her upcoming exit. I enjoyed the scene with Kat, Stacey, Big Mo, and Jean just laughing in the Slater livingroom. It reminds me of how the original Slater girls would just laugh and have silly conversations in that living room in the early 00's. So, I guess Alfie is impotent with him telling Kat in the Slater kitchen that she would never be able to have a baby with him? Unless, there's a twist and the baby is really his. The Alfie and Shirley scene was hilarious, and I could actually stand Heather in that scene where Alfie tried to cheer her up. It was probably a smart idea to bring Kat and Alfie back with something light before the throw all the heavy drama at them. It seems like the show is finally attempting to write Phil and Shirley as a genuine relationship. Phil seems to have calmed down, and their relationship doesn't seem as one-sided anymore, judging by today's episode. It was just a light/fun episode.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Shane Ritchie teased about a big story on This Morning that has the possibility of being a slow burn story than could run for as much as 2 years... http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s2/eastenders/news/a278381/shane-richie-teases-biggest-soap-story.html Maybe it's the show's first babyswitch with Kat/Ronnie, which was predicted in this thread? Or something else... Ronnie has been acting like Archie lately, so I wouldn't put it past her, I guess the end result of Kat beating the sh!t out of Ronnie could be appealing, but it could be something else totally, so who knows... Or maybe just pure hyperbole from Shane, which wouldn't be a surprise...

Collins is still credited in the episodes and most of what's airing now was filmed before he left in July. I think he's confused since he left in July and people are still hating on him now, but he's still credited, though I assume his name will be gone soon from the credits.

Vanessa will be back, she has a lot of scenes with Tanya when she returns. I don't know about Harry. We're also at almost at the very end of the episodes Dominic Treadwell-Collins oversaw as Series Story Producer. The storylines he approved will be playing out for some time more to come, but soon his stamp on the day to day episode development, structure, and pacing will be gone. You do too!

Yes, Kate Harwood left at the end of 2006 and was replaced by Diederick Santer, who to his credit, got the ratings to stabalize again and brought a lot of positive press attention back to the show. Santer left in March of this year, and we're currently in the beginning months of his successor Bryan Kirkwood.
