EastEnders: Discussion Thread
That's true, I think EastEnders only briefly outrated Corrie in yearly ratings for a short time in the 90's. Corrie has always been higher rated than EastEnders in yearly ratings. It's funny to note that when Corrie is bad shape, it doesn't seem to get the ratings drop that EastEnders gets when it's in a similar condition.

Incredibly weak and repetitive tune (even for a modern pop song). This is not lead single material AT ALL. And god, the way she sings this song in her already weak voice is beyond annoying. Maybe the follow-up singles will be better pop songs, but this is not an impressive effort IMO.

The song that they used for John-Paul and Craig's last scene is "Epic Last Song" by Does It Offend You, Yeah? I'll always think of John Paul and Craig everytime I hear that song now. It was a perfect song to usher them off the show. I'm going to miss them, as I said before, the overall storyline was an amazing ride and I can't find any faults with it. Here's the video for the whole song btw: "> " type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344">

OMG!!!! YAY!!!! We got our Sunset Ending!!! God, the John Paul and Craig storyline was just amazing to watch, it's been an amazing ride over the past 2 and half years watching the storyline that single-handedly revived Hollyoaks. God, their reunion at the train station was such a good moment. I guess if some didn't see the storyline from the beginning to end, they won't feel the same way about it that we do. I LOVED how they remembered the John Paul, Craig, Hannah, and Sarah dynamic and what close friends they all were. I'm glad that Sarah and Craig finally have closure and that Sarah was finally able to forgive Craig. I'll post more on the entire week on Friday or Saturday, but god, the Sunset Ending was all I could've asked for and more. I loved the moment where they finally see each other at the train station and John Paul says to Craig, "I keep wondering what if you hadn't walked into class that day." God, I love how they mentioned their meeting and the little injection of history here and there. I also loved when John Paul jokingly said, "Why do you keep finding ourselves in situations like this?" John Paul and Craig was a true love story. It didn't matter that they're gay, the storyline was treated like how any straight romance would've been treated. The forbiddeness of it, the passion, the love between these two characters, and how it impacted those around them made for some of the best soap opera I've ever seen. It's truly been an amazing experience to watch this. Bryan Kirkwood is the man. Oh, and I'm glad that Niall's plan to poison John Paul backfired on his ass, served him right!

A lot of the stuff airing now was taped in late June/ early July, so some actors might have been on vacation or doing outside projects at the time. I'm sure he'll get his own story soon, he's been doing tons of outside projects this year.

Mercedes and Kris! EWW and LMAO! Malachy and his HIV+ status is going to make things a hell of a lot more complicated. Plus, Mercedes told Kris that the condom broke. I also liked Malachy and Kis' conversation after Nancy got them to speak to one another at the party and the confrontation and fight. I love it when Malachy calls Kris, "Francis." And Malachy doesn't want to tell Mercedes about being HIV+. Nancy and Kris have to open their big months about this. The conversation between Malachy and Mercedes was sweet. Malachy is really the only person she's been like this with, she really let her guard down with him. "If there's another girl, I just want to say, please choose me." Then Malachy slept with Mercedes without telling her anything. And Sarah seems so ashamed that Elliott is her boyfriend. I guess she likes it when boyfriends sleep with her mother (Rhys) or when they start screwing their male best friend (Craig). That girl has always been clueless. I'm glad Eilliott dumped her ass. Warren annoys me, Clare needs to come back and roast his ass.

I think it's only supposed to be for 12 episodes, since other than soaps, British shows either don't last very long or have long seasons. Apparently it's going to be much darker and more adult. I'll let you all know when it airs, and I'm sure it'll be on youtube somewhere. The show's going to be an hour long and it will use characters seen on the parent show. http://hollyoaksvillage.com/2008/06/05/hol...oes-late-night/ . According to reports, the late night editions, with a working title of Late Night Hollyoaks, will also feature an extremely unlikely marriage, as well as the Dirty Diegos playing their first gig. More information soon.

OK, October sounds really good, the McQueen and Niall storyline will get much hotter, and something unexpected will happen. Then of course they'll be the Hollyoaks spin-off that will most likely tie into the parent show.

Hollyoaks: Discussion Thread
Those were all flashbacks to the evil things Niall inflicted upon the McQueen family. As for the Michaela flashback, Michaela had a drug problem earlier in the year. Niall knew this, so when he was at the McQueen house, he spiked her drink and when she went to her room to sleep it off, he injected her with a heroin overdose when he saw that she was asleep, and he planted the needle next to her. He did this to set her up and make Myra and the rest of the McQueen's lose faith in Michaela and not believe anything she had to say. Michaela insisted that she didn't inject herself, but Niall in talks with her convinced her that she must have, so she's led to believe that she did do it. As for the JP flashback, Niall knew about Kieron and JP before everyone else. At the time Kieron was still a priest, so he set up the right moment where Myra would come to his apartment and discover that JP and Kieron were having an affair. Hence Myra's big outburst at Steph and Max's wedding towards Kieron and obviously towards Kieron having to leave the priesthood. And of course you were watching the show by the time the Tina being pushed flashback was shown to know what it meant.

The upcoming story with Mercedes and Malachy is going to be intense. I like the compassionate side he's brought out in Mercedes. The drama is really going to come when Mercedes finds out he's , I wonder how she's going to react to that.

Anyone notice the contrast between the first time Craig admitted he loved John Paul and they kissed and had sex to Friday's admission of love and eventual kiss and sex? This is great writing! The first time, originally aired on May 16, 2007 From Friday's episode

I'm worried about Steph. Now that she's disowned Frankie, Jack, and Darren and when she finds out what a psycho Niall is, she's going to be really damaged. This just hasn't been her year. Good drama though. I hope they don't make Step pregnant with Niall's child or something though.

Craig and John Paul. I loved Craig's return episode, and how creepy was it when Tom's voiceover went all biblical towards the end of the episode? LOL! LOVED Steph blowing off Niall, what a psycho he is. The scenes when Step discovered Jack was alive and Jack went into a heart attack were also good. The awkward conversation between Craig and John Paul and the hug just warmed my heart. I really hope things work out for them this time, screw Kieron. And then on Wednesday's show when Craig bumped into Zoe and he told her to tell Sarah that he was asking about her. LOL! I'm sure Sarah really wants to remember how her fiancee had a gay affair for months and dumped her for his gay best friend. LOL! At Michela's crush on Mike. Carley Stenson (Steph) was once again great on Wednesday's show. "Don't call me love!" Too bad she had to ruin it by screwing Niall by the end of the episode. ...But that won't last long. I loved Cindy berating Steph about spending the night with Niall. I also loved Mandy telling Niall off, what a lunatic he was when he looked like he was going to hit her before John Paul stepped in. Great scene in Thursday's episode with Kieron finding out that Niall is in fact Myra's long lost son. This storyline is about to get very heated and ties in to so many others. Mercedes looks hot on Friday's episode. It's so weird to actually see Mercedes in love for once. The confrontation between Kieron and Niall was very solid too. The scene with Craig and John Paul at the McQueen house was very good too. Craig: I spent the entire last year wondering what could've been. I go to clubs and I wonder if you'd like the music. I loved that part, as JP is a DJ. And their kiss and ultimate sex was hot, and I loved the tension. It was so well juxtapositioned with Niall poisoning Kieron and Kieron's death John Paul to Craig: Don't be daft, it's you, it's always been you! God, this was such a good week for Hollyoaks.

Mandy is a Richardson, her mother married Gordon Cunnigham and that's how Tom was produced. Mandy is a step-sister to the Cunningham siblings, as well as Tom's half-sister. Holly is a few years older than Tom.

You mean the siblings? Most of them aren't on the show anymore. I think it's Cindy, Jude, Max, Dawn, and Tom. Tom is a half-sibling though. Dawn died of leukemia, Jude fled the country, and now of course Max is dead. I don't think that will last long.

ALL: Soap Opera Background Music Thread
I had to bump this thread, because I finally found a longer version of Stone's death theme. It's from the ABC Afterschool Special Positive: A Journey Into AIDS, produced by Wendy Riche and Shelley Curtis. It detailed Kimberly McCullough and Michael Sutton finding out more about HIV/AIDS and the storyline at the time. The almost 3 minute version of the theme kicks in about the last 3 minutes of this clip, it starts at about the time Francesca James (then GH's Supervising Producer) is talking to Kimberly and Michael about their final scene together. This score is simply AMAZING, and probably the best score I've ever heard on a soap.

Hollyoaks: Discussion Thread
It was always the plan according to Bryan Kirkwood, but I think viewers knew that it would happen a few months after John Paul and Craig met. The build up was great to this story, it was gradual, and they played all the beats. Storylines are written very differently on British soaps. The building and climax are usually already outlined from the start and the writers have a clear sense of where things are going months before it actually airs. And oh, as the story goes on, you'll see just how stupid Sarah is, and how the signs were right in front of her face that Craig and John Paul wanted each other. The Craig/John Paul/Sarah/ triangle was intense to watch though. Hannah was involved in the beginning too, she was so in love with Craig and it wrecked her to find out that he was gay and used her in the beginning, that coupled with Sarah's then building modeling career led to Hannah's bout with anorexia. This week was very good, and other than torrents, I don't know who else might upload episodes for you to watch.

Home and Away: Discussion Thread
For some reason, I knew you wouldn't like Sally. Everyone has the right to his/her own opinion. However, since viewers watched Sally/Kate Ritchie grow up on the show over the course of 20 years, the character and actress has a special bond with the audience that no one else on the show has (and Alf doesn't count, since he was an adult when the show started). It's like an emotional attachment, kind of like how some were pissed when Cassie was killed off on Y&R because they watched her grow up and she represented a state of stability and familiarity with viewers.

Home and Away: Discussion Thread
I haven't kept up with Home And Away since early 2007 with the aftermath of Sally's stabbing. However, I did download Kate Ritchie's last month worth of episodes or so. I still can't believe she's gone, she was the heart of that show for so many years IMO. Has her absence left a bit of a hole in the show? I know Home And Away like many other soaps has increasingly become more and more youth oriented over the years, but Sally was always a vital part of everything right through it all. Anyway, was it ever explained if Cassie's kid had the HIV virus as well? I know Cassie left with Sally and was still pregnant at the time, but was it addressed before/after they left?

In case anyone's wondering, here is the beginning of Max and Steph. Max tells Steph about how he blames himself for Clare's wrong-doings and how he thinks he's turning into a monster.
