  1. Does anybody consider Picket Fences a primetime soap? It had some element of a primetime soap even though it was mostly self-contained episodes while there was some longer story arc that went on for multi3pisode.

  2. I feel any moment now the Are we wasting bandwith on a character that last about half a season police is gonna bust this thread but...

Rhonda was just lost in the shuffle during the transition period but she could have been of great use as the voice of reason on a show that was going batshit crazy every five minutes. She could have helped Jane with her clothing line and be the one to point out the obvious hard-on matt had for Michael.

On her own she could have had just as mnay short term love interest and read Amanda a few times cuz seriously I would have loved that. I definitely thought Rhonda was an under estimated character but never saw her as a pushover. That kind of character could have gave many others a run for theirmoney without turning into a major bitch.

  3. They kept Andrew shue who redefined the term bad acting. And Billy was one of the most insipid character the show ever had. How anyone would fight over him was the biggest mystery of all.

So with a little help Rhonda could have found her place. I didnt find her boring but i admit that she didnt get strong material. Which she could have had if she had stuck around. And i thought she had good friend chem with just about everyone on the cast.

  4. I thought sandy was definitely a waste of space but Rhonda had potential IMHO and kinda enjoyed that Matt had a fag hag. No one filled that void in his life. Kimberly came pretty close lol

And i admit that i thought some diversity other than the token gay guy was welcomed. Though thats not my main criteria for liking a character.

  5. While I think Jo, Sydney and Kimberly were welcomed additions to the cast within the first year Im not sure they should have gotten rid of Rhonda. I also kind of disliked how over the year the friendship element got lost. By the end of the series pretty much everybody hated everybody and it was difficult to root for anyone.

  6. I hate the Polyanna speach. Makes me wanna beat Karen with a 2X4. Then rip her two arms and beat her bleeding face with it while i giggle. And then douce whats left with gaz and light a match. And then take pictures. And then posting them on my FB. AND THEN WAIT FOR THE COPS TO ARREST ME.

  7. To me what would always save Abby froom being a royal bitch with no redeeming qualities were her throughline that she would fight tooth and nail for her kids. She wasnt above using them(i remember a few time where she used her son to gain sympathy) or plotting against them(trying to break up Olivia's marriage becuz Harold reminded her of her kids' father) but she would take a bullett for them.

I really think she lost her focus though during the whole Michael York story arc which to these day im not sure what it was about. Was it supposed to showcase vulnerabilities we had seen better established time and time again? I cringed at the notion of abby being fooled into being a victim so im glad she got the last laught but she ended up so bitter over this and it never made sense. How this bloke could even pass for a love interest for abby is beyond me.

  8. I am currently on the episode "The Three Sisters". Kind of a weird episode. Good but weird.

I.remember that episode. Thats the one that got me started watching that show when i was about 10. And then i got sucked into the big upcoming Whodunit (i wont spoil it for you but it was really a good murder mystery)

  9. I think a KL 2.0 daytime version would be awesome actually. And I have to believe that the showrunners were big soaps fans becuz they usually scooped some of the best in daytime (doug sheehan, sam behrensn jane elliot, robin strasser, kathleen noone and so on).

  10. Will go on record to say that I think to this day Judith mcconnell is one of the most gorgeous women to have ever been on soap.

To think CC would cheat on sophia with anyone is still one of the most absurd thing possible for this santa barbara fan.

Although if he didnt cheat I wouldnt have had my short-lived but to me at least memorable Greg & emily pairing. Im a fan of Paul johannson based on that alone

SB truly had one of the best supporting cast any soap could dream of. Too bad they kept getting rid of it every 6 months.

I know there were marquise couples like Cruz & Eden (which i find quite irritating if you ask me) and Mason & Julia but to me it was the "secondary" characters such as Pearl, Keith, gina, carolyne (yes I loved her) and so on that truly made Santa Barbara the gem that it was.

  11. Considering the Bordisso stuff was so convoluted i dont blame anyone for not having a clue of what it was all about. I doubt the writers had a clue themselves.

Eve was a part time hooker to pay for med school which is when she initially met DV. Dv was introduced when Lucy started the Serena clothing line (i think) and to somehow get back at.scott he tried to tank it by having it involved with child labour scandal. He didnt know scott was his son cuz meg(scott's bio mom) left him without telling him but held him responsible for his split with Meg (again i think not sure).

It got evne more convoluted becuz DV and kevin's father Victor had beene

Experimenting with spy stuff and mind control.

  12. I remember that monologue, I've even used it with noun adjustment, ha! Something like, "I'm so flattered that you want to be like me, but don't kid yourself into thinking we're at all alike. Everything I have, I've earned. Everything you have, you've been given. And I know it galls someone of your stature to see a woman like me have what you thought was yours by birth. People like you are threatened of people like me, because deep down, you're afraid you're not going to be able to cut it without your trust fund. And you know what? You're right. ... I never would have set myself up the way you just set yourself up."

Yeah thats exactly the one. Damn i ended up liking Paige but she would never have cut it against Abby.

  13. I liked early PC better. I stopped watching when they got into that supernatural crap becuz i didnt find it interesting. I felt it was too much of a departure and I personally didnt think being so closely tied to mother show GH was what hindering PC. AT TIMES Pc wrote GH history better than GH itself.

I wish they had had more cross-overs and i still have a soft spot for Mary Scanlon. I liked seeing Lee and Gail and amanda barrington. I wish they had crossed Katherine bell over at least to come toe-to-toe with rex stanton.

I wish Neal and Serena had grown on the show. I wish they did something with Chris Ramsey and Courtney (dont remember her last name but i loved sarah aldrich as a bitch).

I wish they hadnt gotten rid of the interns one by one. I wish Ellen Burgess had been given more airtime. I wish they kept jake marshak and develop his romance with Danielle.

I wish the show brought Jagger as angst for Joe and Karen.

I think there were so much missed opportunities with PC that going the supernatural road was a silly gimmick

  14. One of my personal stand-out scene was wheen Paige tries to get on abby's good side by alluding that theyre cut from the same cloth.

Abby turns around and goes:"Nah, we're nothing alike. Everything i got i had to fight for it which in the eyes of people like you is a huge threat. Cuz everything you've got was handed to you."

Para-phrasing here but this scene is what defines Abby the most. She was a self-made woman and yes she wasnt above using her charm to get what she wants but she was a fighter who would resort to (almost) any length to get what she wanted.

And the"give me the keys" scenes with Olivia is another stand-out for me.

  15. No, Amy (and Brick) really didn't have much to do in the spring/summer of 1986. At that time, the major stories were Mason/Mary/Mark, Kelly's pushing Dylan out the window, escaping the mental ward and going on the run (thus giving Robin Wright the time off to make The Princess Bride), Cruz and ISantana marrying, and Eden's near-death experiences at Squalid (by Kirk) and getting hit by a car (with Santana behind the wheel and Keith as the passenger).

According to this site, David Haskell's debut as Nick Hartley was April 30, 1985. Page Moseley as Dylan premiered later that year, in October.

    http://santabarbara-online.com/Calendar1985.htm

    Thank you so much.

I remember really enjoying the whole Nick/kelly story and really liking this couple and then Dylan showed up and i was like Nick who?

Jeffrey and kelly were good too mostly becuz i thought Ross kettle was a cutie.

  16. Yeah, they paired up Brick and Jane, who ended up leaving town (and the show) together in 1987. Amy had been on the show from October 1984 (about 2 1/2 months after the show began) to September 1986 (when she was killed in the explosion at Buzz's Place).

I think i remember the part about Amy dying but towards the end of her run she was pretty much ignored by the writers wasnt she?

And do you know when Nick Hartley was introduced? I wanna say towards 1986 but its kind of a blur.

  17. For all the love i feel for Santa Barbara i cant remember Amy Perkins at all. And its weird becuz I started watching when Nick Hartley and Kelly hooked up. I think they were on the run or something. (I was 9 thats my excuse lol)

I actually like jane sibett and enjoyed her stint on the show. She was nice to her mentallly ill half sister played by mary-alisse recasner. Did they try to pair Brick with Jane? That could have been interesting.

I love Caroline too and didnt know about Lenore karsdorf's background so she was new to me. Loved her with Lionel.

Never understood why they got rid of that group of character becuz i found them interesting and they added layers to the show who was pretty cruz & eden heavy.

I always despised cruz and eden, always ended up rooting for anyone trying to break them up. Except victoria lane. There was no way i could root for her.

  18. No, I was a fan of Joey Gian too. I don't know if you watched Beverly Hills 90210 but he also played Valene's married lover on the show for a few episodes.

Wow JVA was on BEVERLY hills 90210? ;)

I know you meant Valerie Malone lol.and yeah i caught him on that show too. I think he was briefly on YR as well if im not mistaken but i never really followed it.

I was so mad that they trapped Tom Ryan with that awful british gal at the end of the show.

  19. Considering the way her storyline went a recast might have been the only option cuz as much as I liked Gina Gallego she didnt have the femme fatale vibe. I hate that she was sacrificed for the love of cruz and eden but she was fun as the scorned woman unhinged. But they kind of went to that well too many times. It was still ok with victoria Lane but I think they had planned a similar story with Miranda the psychic who hooked up with Cruz's brother after they returned from Paris.
