  1. Luke and Holly were more popular than Luke and Jackie (Demi Moore) but that's not saying much. I think the show went way too fast with Luke trying to move on without Laura and then Luke never mentioned Laura. It was hard. I do think TG and ES had some chemistry but when TR entered the picture there really was no contest. When TG went on vacation (and Luke "died" in an avalanche), Robert married a pregnant Holly so she wouldn't be deported. The original storyline had Holly going back to Luke, but the fans wanted Holly to stay with Robert and so they changed the entire storyline. Robert and Holly ended up becoming GH's 2nd supercouple. There is a scene in late 1983, where Luke and Holly believe they are going to die, they hug, sort of kiss, and then Holly says all she can think about is Robert. So, Holly got over Luke way back in 1983. That's why I can't stand these Luke/Holly scenes now. They make it seem like Holly has been holding a torch for Luke all these years when she was completely over him in back in 1983. And yes, Holly and Laura interacted together back in 1983 when Laura came back from the dead. Their introduction was awkward at first but then the ladies became friendly. Luke, Laura, Robert & Holly all had dinner together several times.
  2. I know Geary went off the show in early 1983 to do a movie with Judith Light. He extended into late 1983 and then left when Genie came back. That was heaven. Robert ended up with Holly. Luke ended up with Laura. Everyone was happy.
  3. "Love in the Afternoon" was ABC Daytime's best promo of all-time. Nothing compares.
  4. Not too impressed with him either. Gloria Monty spoiled us GH fans. But I have to say I loved Wendy Riche. I love how she made the show her own but respected Monty's GH. The current regime could take a few lessons from her.
  5. Yes. I had no prior knowledge of him before GH. My guess he was a better fit over at Y&R since they had a slower pace of a show than GH.
  6. Probably not to me at the time - especially when you compare them to today's females. I just remember sheer boredom. Boredom and Wes Kenney go hand in hand to me.
  7. I'm not sure. I just remember that someone was driving a SAAB and they killed Tanya. They were going over every little detail about the make of the car and I remember thinking to myself "this is so boring!" Frisco & Felicia became a little bit too domesticated as well. And the show focused on Tom Hardy a little too much. GH became boring and dull. However, on a good note, I do remember Tristan Rogers came back to GH during Kenney's reign. When Robert first appeared in P.C, the writers made it seem like Holly (who they killed off-screen) had an affair on Robert. The fans were furious and wrote to GH with their displeasure. Kenney then later had a letter from Holly arrive to Robert declaring her love, etc. I will always respect him for that. He listened to the fans and tried to correct his mistakes - unlike the current regime.
  8. Wes Kenney and GH didn't mix too well. I distinctly remember being bored for the very first time watching GH under his reign. It was too slow and he focused on the wrong things. To his credit, when something was going wrong, he tried to fix it. But I really missed Gloria Monty. Then again, I'd take Wes Kenney as EP in a heartbeat over Jill "the soap killer" Phelps.
  9. Not sure. Gloria Monty left in 1987 and GH fell to the #2 spot for the year. I'm not sure if GM was still there when GH fell to #2 though. I would think the head of ABC Daytime would be to blame. And then GH floundered for a long time until Wendy Riche took over as E.P. in 1992.
  10. I'm not sure. There were real problems before Robert and Anna left GH. While I absolutely love Robert and Anna individually, I didn't really like them as a couple. The stories at the time were all over the place and didn't have continuity. Monty was having a tough time restructuring GH. I wish ABC would have given her more time. I think eventually she would have figured it out and then we could have gotten back to real GH. Not that I didn't like Wendy Riche's GH, but when I see how long ABC has let Jill Faren Phelps run GH into the ground (over a decade!), I wish ABC would have given Monty more time on her second stint.
  11. Those were the days. Stuart Damon always seemed like a classy guy to me. And then there was Tristan's jumpsuit -
  12. Her name was Jessica. She was the assistant D.A., I think. She had an affair with Sean. Who's everyone's favorite "B" character from GH. I really like Tiffany, Amy and Ruby.
  13. I just could *not* get past the age difference between Jed Allan and Stuart Damon. It was like they were brothers. As good as an actor as JA is, this was one of the worst recasts in GH history.
  14. I honestly think it was so Jason could experience his "box of pain". Losing his father, rather than his grandfather, would have caused more pain. From everything I've read, SD was the nicest man and never complained. They should have asked him to go on recurring. It was just wrong to kill of Alan Q. I cried when they killed him off and I didn't even watch the episode. I just knew "My GH" had died.
  15. I totally disagree with this. I think if they would have killed off Monica instead of Alan, there would have been just as much outrage. I love all the Qs individually but it pales in comparison to my love of the Q unit as a whole. When I've been asked who my all-time favorite characters, I list a bunch and then always state "the Q family". They were just so terrific together. But I can't say that one individual Q is an all-time favorite character of mine. If JFP was so intent on killing off a Q, she should have killed off Edward II. Alan and Monica should have remained as the tent-pole couple and then there would have been ONE couple together on Guza's GH.
  16. Paul Raven, thanks so much for those magazine covers. I've never seen them before. It's kind of fun to see that Steve, Audrey and Jessie were "cover" material once upon a time. And that was a classic scene between Monica and Lesley. Monica was such a b#tch! LOL! LC and DA worked well together. Thanks for sharing.
  17. Yea, 1991 was horrible. The Eckerts were awful. I think if ABC gave GM some time, she could have turned things around. It boggles my mind how fast they got rid of GM when in comparison JFP continues to reign as EP at GH for over a decade with horrific ratings. I really enjoyed Labine's (& Riche's) GH as well even though it was very different than Monty's GH. I liked the realism and was thoroughly engrossed in all the stories. Labine and Riche also respected the history of Monty's GH which made it easier for me to like their GH. Guza, on the other hand, seemed to take delight in running a bulldozer through all of GH's history and it only made me hate his GH even more.
  18. IA. I wish there was a "Gloria Monty" today that could help save GH.
  19. Now this is my kind of thread. I got hooked on GH in 1977 so the 80s intro is dear to my heart. I miss Gloria Monty. She knew how to create some dynamic and charismatic characters that you could root for. I loved her supercouples as well. While I loved DAYS back in the 80s and know they are the "supercouple" show, I actually liked GH's supercouples better.
