  1. Run naked through Times Square (on a warm day :P )

Be buried alive for five minutes, or be above ground in a trough full of snakes/bugs for five minutes?

    Buried Alive.

Would you rather go skydiving (with a parachute) or jump off a two story house without one?

  2. The only other one I can think of that could do the topic justice is Parenthood. That show has enough 3-dimensional teens on it to do the topic right. Other teen shows like 90210, Gossip Girl, OTH have so many bullies as main characters that any attempt to address the subject automatically become "very special episode" territory. Private Practice touched on the topic by having one of Cooper's patients being the victim of bullying but IMO the only way a bullying story really works is if we see the effects on a main character and if that main character is gay.

I see your points. I do not watch Parenthood...I started too last year, but just didn't have the time. So, I can't comment there.

As for 90210...It's always something I wish they explored more. I mean I enjoy their interpretation of High school, even if it is far too glorified. However, I wish they would touch on bullying. Because, sad as it is, it is a huge part/problem of highschool. I have always thought we should learn that Naomi was bullied horribly as a child. It would bring new depth to the character. Making others feel bad about themselves because her whole life she was told she wasn't good enough? It sounds twisted, but it happens.

But I do wish they would branch out on TV in general. I know that a big majority of bullying is towards gay teens, but not all of it is. And I wish TV could really, seriously, show that.

  3. Ever considered listening to The Archers?

Yes absolutely! I would love too, but I'm just never sure where to find it...And whenever I find like one episode of something, I always get pissed when I can't get the rest because I want to know what happens?

Do you know where I could find it?

I'm glad you read through all that. I wasn't sure if anyone could. So you got something out of it then? I have to admit I thought some of it, like the bit from Ma Perkins, was beautiful, and true to life.

I like the idea of radio soaps too. It's a shame these died in the US long ago. The UK managed to keep them going.

Have you looked up Guiding Light radio in Youtube? You will get about 5-6 episodes or more.

Yes! Thank you Carl. You post the most fascinating articles. I could just sit and read through them for hours...Hell, I did! (That's the one benefit to having a cold!)

Yeah, it's a shame radio soaps died here. I can't imagine they're that expensive...I could get behind a reboot of them. I'm surprised no one has launced any on Sirius XM or anything.

No, I haven't looked up GL...But I think I'm going to. I've heard nothing but good things!

  4. Agreed. The Good Wife dropped too. I suspect for the same reasons.

I found the episode touching but all the Kurt worship was nauseating. I am glad, however, that Glee is trying to really deal with the bullying issue. It's one of the only shows on the air that can do it organically.

I agree...What are some other ones you think can as well?

The problem with Glee and bullying is half the time they play bullying for laughs.

Doesn't this show come on before DWTS?

    I'm not sure...Were the dancing results on 8-10 or 9-11? I can't remember.

Glee comes on at 8, at least in most markets.

However, I know I missed it because I was out Christmas shopping, therefore I watched it on Hulu.

  5. Carol Bur-freaking-NET!!!! <3 <3 :wub::wub:

I just love this woman. Why is she not on our TV every week?!

I see give Valeri Burtenelli the boot, and but Carol on Hot In Cleveland...Come on, Betty White and Carol Burnett together every week? Comic gold.

  6. I like the show a lot.

I think maybe I'm in the minority, but I love Sherri Shephard. I think she's hilarious. She might be a few watts short of a flourescent, but she entertains me.

I like all of the panel really, especially when they fight. I've always hoped a little bit that Barbara Walters would just have a meltdown and slap somebody....It would make my day. HAHA.

  7. I could see Dynasty being rebooted on a major network, thought probably not ABC. However, they could always reboot it and pair it up with Desperate Housewives on Sunday's. A good, soap filled night. And some crossovers between the two, such as Joan popping in here and there, and Eva Longoria's character having some connection to the new set at Dynasty, could really bring DH back to what made it so great in the beginning...A true SOAP.

  8. Anyone watch the premiere?

I thought it was actually pretty good. I'm not really a big fan of the "skip ahead two months" after a huge season finale, but I kind of liked it here. In al honesty, I think I would have liked to see what happened the day AFTER the shooting...Maybe starting there and moving in intervals until present time throughout the hour. To give us more of a feeling of how everyone reacted, gradually.

But, I did like the episode, and thought it was a pretty good way of showing things. I believed that these people would react like that after a shooting of such a caliber, and I was happy with that.

Still curious about Mandy Moore's character though. She HAS to be messed up after that.

I heard she's gonna make another appearance...I wonder if that will be addressed?

  9. I just adore Dynasty. I don't know how I never got involved in this thread before!

I absolutely cherish and worship Joan Collins. She, in my opinion, is the QUEEN of all primetime soap vixens.

    She's just so...toxically addicting.

A Dynasty reboot, I could get behind...As long as Joan was on it. I could see it done. With the "next generation" being the core, but Krystle and Joan still feuding, and that stemming to the new generation. Plus Heather Locklear would jump at the oppurtunity to be on it, I'm sure. So she could be incorporated...Maybe even Pamela Sue Martin or Emma Samms, too. Could be done.

  10. Well I can't believe I have never seen this thread before!

Ryan's Hope is truly one of my favorite soap operas of all time. I got hooked on SoapNet at somepoint, and still enjoy the show. I always watch it, should i be up at 5AM, and I often times TiVoe it.

I really like the family elements of the show. The interactions, and family dramatic elements, is what appealed to me. The theme of working class people in America is something I enjoy, perhaps only because it is so drastically different from what is on today. Nonetheless, the show is great.

And for those that call it slow moving, I have to agree and disagree at the same time. While the show is certainly a lot more slow moving than today's soaps, it is something I almost relish. The fact that the plot lines move on slower always allowed, at least for me, the dramatic elements to build up. Stretching the story out and having it move slower allowed the plots to overlap and layer upon each other, in a way that encanvased the entire show and had you yearning and thinking of how it would end. And for me, that just built up the emotional connection I had with the plots/characters, and I love it.

I still watch it on SOAPnet and a lot on YouTube as well.

  11. This is exciting. I love Britney. I have pretty much all of her music.

Can't wait for this new CD...And I would love to see a Britney song with "meaning". Maybe her next single will be called:

"How to use a condom while engaging in the threesome I encouraged in my last single"

    THAT would have meaning.
