The St. Croix story reaches a shocking climax

HOSPITAL

Lindsay is coaching Gregory, who is propping himself up by the bars.

Lindsay (following Gregory along the bars): You’re doing great! Keep on!

Gregory (sweating): Few more…steps.

Lindsay: Yes! Come on!

Gregory gets to the end of the bars.

Lindsay: Yes! That’s great!

Gregory plops back in the wheelchair, exhausted.

Lindsay: You’re making significant progress every day it seems like.

Gregory: Thanks to you.

Lindsay: No…you deserve all the credit.

Lindsay bends down to kiss Gregory and John interrupts, and he’s holding a folder.

John: Hey kids.

Gregory: Dad.

Lindsay: Hi Dr. Hudson.

John: How’s my boy doing?

Lindsay: He’s making a lot of progress.

John: Makes sense.

Lindsay: He’s determined.

John: That’s what the tests show. I looked at your films, and the swelling has gone down in your spine at a rapid rate. All the feeling should be coming back.

Gregory and Lindsay look at each other in amazement.

ST CROIX

OUTSIDE

The fire department is putting out the blaze and all the hostages have made it out alive. Jake checks on Frankie and Sharlene.

Jake: Are you alright?

Sharlene: I’m fine. I’m glad we got outta there.

Frankie: Jake…thank you for coming with me. You didn’t have to do that.

Jake: Look at what happened. You could have died in there. Charlie would have lost her mother.

Frankie: And Vicky would have lost her husband. Not to mention Bridget. When we get back to Bay City, Vicky is the first person you need to go see.

Jake: And Cass and Charlie are the ones you need to run to.

John is in his office when Rachel walks in.

John: Rachel. What’s going on?

Rachel: It’s Sharlene. I know where she is because Amanda is there, too.

John: What?

Rachel: They’ve been kidnapped by Evan Frame.

EVAN’S SUITE

Evan is lying on the floor in a pool of blood, having just been shot by Grant, and twitches his fingers, indicating he is still alive.

PRIVATE PLANE ON THE WAY BACK TO BAY CITY

Grant is on the phone.

Grant: Check on him…make sure that the job is finished.

CAMERA PAN ON GRANT…SLOW FADE TO THEME SONG

HOSPITAL

John is with Rachel in John’s office.

John: Evan Frame? Why did he kidnap Sharlene? That’s his aunt for God’s sake.

Rachel: They’ve connected him to Dr. Taylor’s murder.

John: He stole the laptop and the notes. Why?

Rachel: He wants to exact his revenge on those who turned on his mother. I killed her over thirty years ago.

John: Why hasn’t he come after you?

Rachel: I guess he wants to get to me through the people I love, like Amanda.

Allen knocks on the door and walks in.

Allen: Rachel.

Rachel: What the hell are you doing here?

Allen: Have you spoken to Amanda?

Rachel’s cell phone rings…

AMANDA (WITH CAMERON OVER HER SHOULDER) ON A CELL PHONE.

Amanda: Mom?

Rachel: Oh my God Amanda. I’ve been worried sick. Are you alright? Where are you?

Amanda: Yes I’m fine. I’m in St. Croix.

Rachel: You didn’t come back to the front of the church.

Amanda: I ran into Evan.

Rachel: He shot Mitch didn’t he?

Amanda: Yes he did. How is he?

Rachel: I’ll explain when you come home. Just get here.

Amanda: Cameron’s here?

Rachel: Cameron?

Amanda: Evan was holding him hostage. We got a lot to talk about when I get home.

HOSPITAL

Allen watches Rachel on the phone.

Allen: Is that Amanda? Amanda!

Frankie walks over to Amanda.

Frankie: Is that Rachel? I’ve gotta tell her something. Can I talk to her?

Amanda: Sure. Mom. I love you.

Rachel: Love you, too honey.

Amanda hands the phone to Frankie.

Frankie: Rachel this is Frankie. Rachel you’re not gonna believe what I’m about to tell you.

Rachel: Hello? (beat) Frankie I can’t hear you.

Frankie: Carl’s alive.

Amanda overhears and approaches Frankie.

Amanda: Carl Hutchins? Alive?

HOSPITAL

Rachel: Lost a signal.

Allen: Was that Amanda? Is she alright?

Rachel: You don’t get to worry about Amanda. When she gets back you stay the hell away from her.

Allen: Sorry Rachel, I can’t do that.

Amanda: I can’t believe Evan was holding you hostage all this time.

Cameron: It’s over. We’re together now.

He hugs her, but Amanda thinks about Allen.

JACK AND TONI ARRIVE with St. Croix officers. They approach Jake and Sharlene, and Jake gives Jack a skeptical look.

Toni: Jake, Sharlene. This is Jack Snyder. He’s the Chief of Detectives at BCPD.

This is Sharlene Hudson, and Jake McKinnon.

Jack: Mrs. Hudson. You can use my cell phone to call your husband. Jake, good to meet you.

Jake: Yeah. Are you here to get Evan?

Toni: Where is he?

Sharlene: He’s staying at The Beachfront Hotel.

Jack: Let’s go.

ABOUT TWENTY MINUTES LATER…

Jack, Toni, and the police arrive at Evan’s suite. They kick the door and draw their guns. Jack and Toni are shocked at what they see, and Jack checks Evan’s pulse.

Toni: He looks he’s been shot.

Jack: He’s dead.

CAMERA PAN ON EVAN…SLOW FADE OUT…END OF EPISODE 65
