Lily and Jade sit down at the kitchen table to talk. Jade explains that things didn't work out with her adoptive parents so she came back to Oakdale to get on her feet and decide what she wants to do with her life. Lily implies that she can get a job and live with her, Holden, and the kids. She's stunned when Jade turns her down. Jade says that the last time she was in Oakdale, she caused too much trouble. She doesn't want to be a burden. She's realized her imperfections and dealt with them accordingly; it's time to find a life of her own and quit having to rely on others for support.
Lucinda comes in and informs Lily that they need to talk. She reminisces about the previous night and tells Lily that Noah had a one night stand with Carrie and it resulted in a pregnancy. Jade's baffled when she hears, not realizing that Luke and Noah are an item. Lily rushes out the door to search for Luke, but Lucinda stops her and tells her that Luke isn't himself today and has asked to be left alone. Lily worries that this heartbreak might make Luke return to alcohol as a support system. Little do they know, Jade has already left to track down her cousin.
At Memorial, Carrie glances over and discovers that Noah spent the night with her. He tells her that he doesn't think he can face Luke after what he's done. Carrie's flabbergasted that Noah is gay and wonders why he slept with her if he already had a boyfriend. Noah explains that Luke kept something from him and it made him feel hurt and betrayed. He resorted to a fun night out with friends, and after that, he lost all logic. Carrie advises Noah to make things right with Luke. Noah refuses, citing that Carrie just lost a child. He's not leaving her side. Meanwhile, Lily finds Holden and tells him about Luke. Holden's furious and demands they go pay Noah a visit. Across town, Jade finds Luke drunk at Yo's.
Brad comes into work and asks Katie where Kim is. Katie guesses that she's still recovering from the chaos at the cancer center's grand opening. Brad asks Katie what she has planned for the evening. She shrugs that she hasn't been in touch with Michael for a day or so and she's worried. Brad suggests they go track down Michael. Katie's flattered that Brad cares so much and agrees. Later, the two find Michael sipping a cup of coffee at Java. Katie's worried when she sees her uncle's trance-like state and asks what happened with Doris. She's confused as to why he kept it a secret that he was divorcing from his wife. Michael, agitated, snaps that none of this is Katie's concern. Shooing her away, he tells her that none of this should have happened; Doris has turned him into an adultress fool in the eyes of Oakdale. Katie tries to comfort him, but he gets up and walks out. Katie's hurt and leans on Brad for support.
Across town, Rosanna tiredly begs Paul to put down the gun. She tells him that holding his father hostage in a hotel room overnight isn't going to solve anything. James smirks that Paul doesn't have the balls to shoot him, just like he didn't have the balls to get rid of any of his enemies. Paul yells at James to shut up and openly blames him for jeopardizing Barbara's health by his wicked entrance. James asserts that he only came to town to care for his family; it's obvious they don't know how to handle themselves when he's not around. Paul gets furious and acts like he's going to pull the trigger, but his last minute resistance makes James chuckle. James tells Rosanna and Paul that without him, they have nothing. Paul laughs that they have plenty, but James thinks otherwise. He teases Rosanna and Paul, saying that without him, he won't be able to tell them what he knows about Cabot. As Paul and Rosanna stare at each other in disbelief, James dashes out the door. Rosanna weeps that that sick bastard better not have done anything to Cabot as Paul chases after his father.
