  1. The backlash over the David/Valerie story hurt so much potential for daytime to change and grow.

I'd never seen that comic. Thanks for finding it. I guess they were allowed to publish because it had an unhappy ending.

Also it was the early seventies when they thought everybody had to die in the end like Ali Macgraw's character in Love Story.

  2. Thanks for posting that Bo fired/hired SOD article as that issue has always eluded me. Loved what CC had to say about Peter Reckell. We've all heard what that situation was really about but don't know if we've ever gotten a for sure on it.

And thanks for posting the Blacklash article as well. It was really good that DOOL did the David/Val interracial storyline back then in the 70's. I was really young but I remember some of it. DOOL has always been a cutting edge soap. I've always thought the Luke/Laura/Scotty rape SL was just PFS ripping Bell's Mickey/Bill/Laura SL. Anyways interracial storylines were rare for TV and any other form. My friend posted this rare interracial storyline from a Young Romance comic in the early 70's that is surprisingly good. I can't believe DC allowed it to published. http://kb-outofthisworld.blogspot.com/2010/02/inter-racial-hospital-romance-young.html

  3. If Brenda Benet had lived, what do you think DAYS would have done with Lee? How long would she have lasted? What stories would you have done with her?

It might have helped Doug and Julie get a good SL considering Pat, Maggie, Sheri and Thom were fixing to change DOOL and go adventure style ala GH. Doug and Julie faded out around '83.

  4. Interesting that article said DOOL received more fan mail than GH and AMC during the peaks of their time. I never would have thought that would be the case. But I do seem to remember reading that SOD said they had to eliminate DOOL actors from some of the SOD award categories to keep DOOL from sweeping all awards so this fits . AL "Where's the romance" Rabin knew what he was talking about when he said soaps were about romances and DOOL definitely had that going on.
