I agree with a lot of this. The mask stuff is a problem and I've voiced it. It's stupid. But the combustibility of this Kristen? Yes please.

Those are valid points. I like Stacy's Kristen but I respect anyone who feels differently.

You said it all. JER's take on religion and morality was distorted as hell. At the time in a more black and white world, at age 13, sure... I bought what it. Now? I appreciate his craftsmanship but the dude was tortured.

One of the reasons I prefer Stacy. Eileen's a legend. You won't find anyone who loved her more than me but I feel the same as you. Even when John and Kristen were together all he cared about was Marlena. That was the driver of her insecurities. Reject adoptee finds love, fulfills her dream of a family of her own only to find his heart was never hers. Add the miscarriage, Stefano's influence and she snapped.

Same. I could go for Northrup and Koslow. I'd love a Kate/Roman/Laura triangle. Throw in a little Vivian (not Dano or Strasser), Northrup's Roman. A dash of Kristen to mess things up. It'll be like old times. Josh Taylor just isn't Roman to me. Can I say 'damn Ron' for killing Laura one more time?

Ron was more interested in outdoing the original story than crafting a cohesive plot with proper build and investment. He became so proud that he lost what made the original story magic in the first place. Ryan Murphy syndrome. You can be unpredictable and still maintain the mechanics of good plotting. That said, bring on devil Johnny. At least he speaks in full breaths. (Love you Dee.)

I'm glad Johnny's the next 'devil.' I was hoping (if anyone) it would be Abby or Kayla but he gets the job done too. He's charming and weaselly so he can be devilish without sounding alarms. I'm sure the characters will be lobotomized either way, but I digress... I worry a bit. The guaranteed homoeroticism is something I'm all for but I don't need Ron conflating gay/bi/fluid with Satanic, even for entertainment. Just write it for what it is. That said I'm looking forward to this. Just no more MarDevil. Stay in 1995 please.

I don't think there needs to be an origin story, it's the devil. He found her at her weakest point, failed to consume her so he tried and failed again. Now it's personal and will keep trying until she and the ones she loves pays. Simple. Next time take it seriously and let Marlena be the recipient vs. the driver. I agree about Peter. He's heaps more relevant than Colin but I'll keep an open mind.

I love this. Laura's a workable character. Her rivalry with Kate and ties with Vivian. Her hatred of Kristen who tormented her to the nuthouse. Her friendship with Marlena. Her entire branch of the Horton family tree who still leads story. It was more than a waste killing her. 100%. I like Gwen though. Don't hate me. 😄😄

The most memorable thing about Colin was his vacant model girlfriend and how excited she was to go to Hope's potty... party, in 2001. She had an interesting accent. I can't imagine why they'd bring Colin back, he was a pretty big flop of a character. I definitely didn't like the actor.

Valid. Art is subjective. I'm a gay male with a robust sex drive but the way they write Leo... I dunno. It's not my favorite thing. Toying with consent is a slippery slope but I can't argue with the points you made.

It irritates me thinking about it. There are plenty of actresses with enough range to play Laura, uptight professional grandmother, sometimes borderline schizo romantic rival with legitimate ties to the whole damn town, starting with Kate and Kristen. Marlena. Her whole branch of the Horton family tree. What a waste killing her off. An even bigger waste killing her the way he did. Damn Ron. Tragic. I like her hair though.

Definite mistake. She's a workable piece of the canvas with legitimate ties and rivalries. Jack, Jennifer, Abby, Kate, Kristen, Marlena, etc. I mean damn. She shouldn't have died like that. Not without a last hurrah or something. But Ron didn't know who she was and she didn't qualify as iconic (to him) so in the rug she goes.

100%. JER was supremely messed up but at least he wrote semi-adult, semi-serious stories. I appreciated the tone and structure but his pathos ran deep. He was a reclusive, regressed, self-hating religious bigot with no understanding what actually motivates humans outside the simple, tribalistic black and white lens he viewed the world through. Some of that lends itself to soap storytelling but he was nuts. Potato flakes Ryan Murphy took the most messed up parts of JER and poured glitter glue all over it with this story.

Yeah I'm done with the mask stuff. Kristen/Susan are part of the canon but it should end there. Really I'm fine if they never swap again, even though Stacy kills the variances. Perfect example of Ron taking something fun (in it's time) and indulging it to death. Nobody asked for masks. I don't like that he killed Laura. Ron did to her what Paulina wanted to do to the square except they need to actually tear that down and build a new promenade, Salem Place part deux because HTS is stale. Laura should be alive to face off with Kristen.
