It'll be interesting to see if these "unknowns" will endure the hustle and bustle that a daytime soap requires. I've always heard the most seasoned soap actors proclaim how difficult working on a daytime soap is. The scheduling, having to memorize LOTS of dialogue, etc. I wish them all very well though.

If imbd is even slightly reliable, then I hope this dude, Malachi Malik,shows up. Allegedly, he's Jacob's dad, Elon Hawthorne. He looks good. Hook him up with Dani to annoy Bill.

Dr. Ted the brilliant plastic surgeon. Dr. Nicole's husband and Andre's uncle. Jacob the police detective and Naomi's husband.

I think come next month we'll see a second installment of this in the form of a FULL trailer. I hope so. And I hope it has other characters in it beyond the Duprees. I want a glimpse of what these other characters are up to.

I would say that Passions is probably the best example to go by IF BTG is to have a non-cast opening. Decent theme song (lyrics or non-lyrics) with footage of the show's setting.

The show itself often got negative criticism, but they had a wonderful "faceless" opening and kept it that way its entire run.

Opening themes absolutely matter. Look no further than those former nighttime soaps from years past. While I'm sure that people loved the shows and their storyline content, those wonderful opening themes provided quite a hook.

We haven't had a new soap in yonks let alone a theme to go with it. This is why I have been super critical of all of this. On the surface, this show was never supposed to happen, as it has been heavily implied for years that this was a dead genre. This is why I feel this show can't afford any kind of a misstep, big or small or anything in between.

Well of course it would never happen now based on their already established decision NOT to set it in The Peachtree State. Again, I'm fully prepared for something lame, just in case.

So cheesy elevator music it is. I'm fully prepared to be disappointed just in case.

Too bad they didn't go for Georgia for the show's actual setting because this iconic tune might've worked as an opening, especially if they did it without cast members, although I think it would've worked just as well WITH cast members.

Anita is posing in that first picture like she's ready to pummel that person she's talking to. Like she's ready to pull off the earrings. Cast members have been weighing in. One called the show over the top while another described it as being insane.

Point taken. I would just hope if they didn't spring for the cast opening that they would find some way to make it interesting otherwise.

ETA: If the actual opening isn't what we see in the promo.

I get it now. In the BTG trailer there's Vernon out front with Anita behind him. Then there's their daughter Dr. Nicole, and finally Bill out front with his fiancee Hayley behind him. I get the ATWT comparisons.

So it's reminiscent of this opening to some?
