  1. I really liked the name Betty too, and I was prepared to be calling her this as a character.
  2. I've never been hard on Passions. It was actually wonderful for what it was. I even got my mother hooked on it shortly after the introduction of Robin Strasser's HECUBA. She was a fan of Dorian Lord on OLTL so I lured her to Passions where she would find La Strasser once again.
  3. Personally, I'd be willing to see just one more known person cast, preferably a male actor. After that, everyone else should be newbies only. Lots of fresh new talent out there waiting to be discovered. So let's discover them.
  4. I REALLY want to see who will be playing the various roles of the men. And like I said before, I hope they don't alter or chicken out on the character description for Marcus.
  5. Miss Cash was also a singer by the way, so there's that.
  6. First Betty, then Anita, and now Rosalind? What is this?
  7. This is reminding me of that unsubstantiated claim of Lawrence Saint-Victor joining this show. I wonder if he'll be announced in the next round?
  8. This. I was pretty cool with a few things remaining as they were. This was one of them. The Jacksons sounded just fine for this show's core family. I was also fully prepared to embrace the name of Betty as well. I hope they keep the names of Patrick, Joseph, and Marcus at least.
  9. So far, Anita and Patrick have daughters but where's Patrick Jr? There's gotta be at least one rat bastard smart alec son somewhere. Maybe they introduce him later?
  10. Yep. Be fully prepared to see Anita in a singing scene or two from time to time.
  11. I agree with Darn's concerns to a degree also. Lots of dark skinned mega talent out there. Can we please see it more? Casting is certainly not complete with BTG, so hopefully some dark chocolate brothas and sistas will still be cast.
  12. I don't mind these changes really, but I seriously hope they stick with casting Marcus and his husband. Please don't let them chicken out on that if they haven't already.
  13. Beyond The Gates or just BTG as the acronym? Well now.
  14. New acronym? My immediate thought would be something obviously related to the show's location of Washington DC. So the title of the show is simply DC without the Washington. A surprising acronym choice would also be location-based IF they've decided on a quick change behind the scenes before taping starts. ATL (most people know what this references)
  15. I don't think it was baffling at all for wanting a minor tidbit of news during the Emmys since it had been a good while since first announcing it. But it no longer matters since it's finally working out for the better. The character descriptions, for example, have been quite informative.
  16. I'm rather anxious, at this point, to see the names and faces of those being cast. We are nudging closer and closer to the start date.
  17. I also find it interesting that it sounds like most, if not all of these characters are harboring secrets of some kind. There's this element of mystery to everyone it seems. This alone should make the show interesting starting out
  18. So underneath her flash and glam, Cheryl is a cokehead? Well now, a previous article did state that this show would be, um, very real? So here it comes. As for Armand, he's described as being a fabulous dancer. A young Gregory Hines? Young male version of Debbie Allen?
  19. The character of Stacy and her unnamed husband is already giving me thoughts of Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith.
  20. I never suggested that the character breakdowns weren't decent, I'm just saying what they sound like TO ME. Opinions always vary, of course.
  21. Jokingly, (or perhaps not jokingly, we shall see) this is going to be the five days a week daytime version of The Oval/The Haves and The Have Nots, based solely on those character descriptions.
  22. Lol. I take it that you don't really care for these character names?
  23. Tyla lives in the ATL too. I've already wondered about these character descriptions sounding like those he'd create. Make of it what you will.
