  1. And the cruel irony is at the very end GL was 90% locations shoots in drab Peapack that was supposed to be a major Metroplitan city...no one can forget the sad episode where Spaulding Enterprises held a meeting in a field. So yeah we can cherish those great location shoots from 40 years ago.
  2. DeeVee has the low down on Joah and Morgan nicely. I would love to see their scenes in their entirety again. I was so rooting for Josh because I couldn't stand Kelly.
  3. I always prefered Josh as the bad boy cad. This was before Reva reduced him and Robert Newman to her Plus 1 until the last episode. I loved Josh and Morgan as a couple-no matter how breif it was.
  4. Yeah...its like they didn't know who to put Alex with so that was a misfire. Perhaps they needed a new character. About Mindy and Will...the thing is...at least in my opinion...there was that brief time when he lost his memory and actually became a good and dare I say likeable character and that version and Mindy I kind of like. Of course they ruined it by having him get his memory back, shave his beard and become evil again and then just plain crazy.
  5. To this day I am still shocked and bitter at the wasted opportunity that was a Josh/Kyle conflict. They shared the grand total of ONE SCENE together...just one. Yes Larkin was leaving but they should have planned it out better to up the drama of the two men verses each other and Billy caught in the middle. What a missed opportunity.
  6. I vaguely recall a quote in SOAP OPERA DIGEST around that time that Kyle was indeed brought into replace the "good boy/bad boy" character of Alan when Bernau announced he was leaving.
  7. There is no question Harley was being set up as the new Reva. She was good with Josh but Robert leaving killed that real good having Josh run off to look for Reva. At the very least years later when Harley came back she did say "Why aren't you with Reva?!" and that was the last nod that Josh and Harley were ever a thing.
  8. This post makes me wish there was a LIKE or HEART option on this message board.
  9. Nia Long has had an EXCELLENT career. I am so excited whenever she turns up in a tv show or movie. Regarding Ben Reade...the stupidity of toasting the last link to Kyle Sampson and Bill's cousin (though the show seemed to refuse to acknowledge that was the case) was such a diservice to the character that it still hard to believe this idea not only got greenlit but made it all the way to completion...and they didn't even hire Jay Hammer to come back for a funeral.
  10. Alexandra I can get behind...easily a top tier character. Reva however never did it for me and she basically ate the show all the way up to the final curtain.
  11. Matt and Vanessa...easily one of the top 5 worst pairing ideas in the show's history. Instant FF material and it pains me to say that because I started watching GL in the early 80's as a teenage boy because I had a crush on Maeve Kincaid. She was SO great as a bad girl...I was sad when they diffused her and made her a "good guy".
  12. I heard long ago Kevin Mambo tested for the David recast but they liked him enough to create Marcus. Problem was the first David recast was a fizzle...I truly believe Mambo could have been far more successful playing the David recast and keeping David a viable character. Also, GL erred making David fall for Bridget after Monti Sharpe who had great chemistry with Melissa Hayden had left the show. That was a story that should have played out with Monti.
  13. Yep, none whatsoever. Not even a proper write off. He owned Top of the Towers too so we have no idea who that passed to. All we get is a months later one off from Holly saying he's playing sax in New Orleans.
  14. Ken had an unseen daughter?! That sounds like someone who should have been brought on. Good call on Papa Camaletti...he seems like a no brainer to have appeared if only for a short term supporting role. When fake Mallet came back they didn't even want to acknowledge Julie ever existed.
  15. Oh wow! An actual clip with Blanche! Thanks so much fora look at this long ago minor character P.J. So apprciated. Never saw this Vanessa temp recast but I have to say she's pretty good! And Lowell! Yes that's a great call! Often referred to, never met. Though I do recall her throwing him over for Ross's assistant Lionel for about a hot minute. LOL
  16. Interesting. I'll assume she was some kind of rich socialite character.
  17. Around that same era of Mona Enright, Vanessa and Trish kept talking about a friend named Blanche Bouvier so much that I thought she would eventually have a role to play. Supposedly she did show up in at least one episode but if she did I missed it. Maybe someone on the board will remember.
  18. I had completely forgotten about Mo's previous relationship. The only thing I remember about her from that time was wearing or pretending to wear a hidden microphone to trick this Garobaldi guy out of the house that crashed in to Bea's in order to provide a ready made setting for "Tony & Company" but I do remember the now legendary Giancarlo Esposito (BREAKING BAD-Yo' Gus!) having the small role of architect student Clay Tynan helping modify the house into the bar. I digress though...about that Not Lana...its hard to believe they never got around to her and yet the last sibling they introduced was Sean Reardon a greasy con man who seemed like there was no way he could be one of Bea's kids!
  19. Wow! Thank you so much for the insight on this long ago San Rios story. Much appreciated!
  20. That sounds dreadful. Maybe its best I don't remember the details. Yeah that was a rough time on the show trying to create a New Lujack out of Simon. It was SO shortsighted and spiteful of the producer to kill of Lujack to get back at Vincent I. for leaving.
  21. Yes, about Fletch. It was revealed during the time Meredith his sister was on the show. Good calls on Vanessa having another husband I did not know that. Dietrich Lindsey...that is a good call...one never played that could have been interesting!
  22. It's so long ago...don't remember the character and a kidnapping...but she might have gone there with Simon? Maybe looking for him. So hard to say now.
  23. GUIDING LIGHT characters who never made it into the storyline. Some characters were name dropped suggesting they would eventually be on the canvas but didn't show. Hamp's wife Tia made a body only appearance once but never came to town. Neither did son Joe. Kurt Corday had a brother mentioned but he never showed up. Then of course there was the mysterious 7th Reardon child we never got to meet. Cassie's father and Sarah's one night stand never made a splash. Fletcher was adopted but thankfully never turned out to be a Spaulding, Bauer or Chamberlain. They made a big deal about Alan being nursed back to health during his time in the jungles of the San Rios by "The Enchatradora"-clear set up for her to appear at some point as his live interest but nothing ever materialized. I'm sure there were more that were set up but never showed. One does wonder what their stories and interactions would have been.
  24. A final note about Jackson Freemont. So Chelsea Reardon was written out as having gone to record music with him in London. For his sake I want to believe in my own head cannon they hooked up and became a couple because all GL ever did was make him lose in his attempts to land Beth and later Chelsea herself. It would be a happy ending for both characters but alas we never heard about them again.
