I read on another board that Y&R is recasting Kay Chancellor with an actress named Scoche Marin. Josh Griffith and Sony/CBS wants to goose up the ratings. They said the story will be that Mrs. C didnt really die and that Esther was keeping her on ice in the Chanceller Mansion basement for the last few years. Is it true?

The stories have no high steaks.

I haven’t been this excited about a soap story in ages!

What about Sara Bibel as Hw? She could do a greta job with somebody like Jean Passanante or Shelly Altman as a mentor. Or Jack Smith

Sounds like easy cash without being tied down. They will be back for good in a year or so.

Kelly Monaco?

I don't know who on that set hasn't been vaxxed, and my sympathies are with Big Steve atm. But I do know that whoever it is that's been spreading it there, whether it's one actor, multiple actors, crew etc. needs to be fired. Full stop.
So you think it is Ingo? Who else?

Under MAB, I loved Kay’s fake/Marge’s funeral, Sabrina’s end, everything Sharon/Nick/Phyllis, Nina being involved in everything and Ronan, and her characterization of Billy. There was a sense of camp that Bill Bell had too. A lot of it was BAD, but much was enjoyable.
With Passanante/Altman, there were the returns of Phyllis and Adam. Also lots of good day-to-day characterization and dialogue.
Sally restored the core of the show and gave us Ashley back, uncartooned the Newmans, and attempted a new generation (should have picked different characters to age, but whatever).

Carolyn as co-HW with Hogan was a terrific time for ATWT. Hogan’s decline began when Jean Passanante was hired as co-HW. The show’s tone noticeably shifted. I also suspect this was the point (fall 2001) when P&G and CBS began interfering with stories.

Who infected the set?

If it is that person, the logic makes absolutely no sense. Ugh. Everything, from stories to production design, on this show is dumb, wasted potential, uninspired, cheap, or boring. The sets are cheap and overcrowded. Performances are forced and devoid of emotion. Characters are unlikable.
I find myself longing for the MAB days (half the show, except for the end of her run in 2012, was worth watching) or Passanante/Altman’s run that was cut too short when they hit their stride in late 2014. I’d also take boring Sally Sussman over boring Josh Griffith. Each of those regimes had “moments” that I still go back and watch. While I’m on it, the less said about Pratt, the better. Ugh.

In September 1999, Molly was fooling around with young Chris at the Hughes house (probably last time we saw the living room) and Nancy almost caught them. Molly referred to her as “Mrs. McCloskey.” It was during a weird time when Nancy would be “Hughes” or “McCloskey,” probably depending on who write the dialogue on a given day.

Y&R is only watchable when Abby isn’t on.

Y&R is going to use this Kristoff tribute for another Emmy reel.

Adam is eating this show. And I refuse to watch on days I know Melissa Ordway will be on. Her Abby is cringe. Bring back Emme Rylan.

I never had any interest in them either. I never did know why she was hired in the first place.
She looked like Cosgrove’s contemporary, but it was odd seeing her with Bomer’s Ben. They put Ben in with characters a little too young for him

That’s what I’ve been saying too. Phelps and Guza decimated GH, but at the same time, the acting, writing/dialogue and production values were so much better then what we see now.
Right on! JFp’s Gh was visually stunning and the acting was some of daytime’s best at the time. Why that couldnt translate to YR I will never understand

NSA looked great in the reunion. She couldnt act worth a damn, but she always looked the part to me. Never could understsnd what people saw in her version of Manny. She worked way better with cosgrove’s bill if she had to stay on the show

Hooray for Tom P! I wish that Alan Locher could get him dor a reunion. And ask him about Gina T and Stephanie G lol

JFP’s GH was a magnificent production minus several of the storylines and killing off vets. Frank’s GH has been a dud and looks horrible since 2014. Give me JFp GH any day over FV.

Since Kyle, Summer, Lola, Theo, Chelsea, snd Abby are like half the cast YR can bring back safely because of age when production resumes, I would just as soon not watch. Worst, low stakes couples and boring, horribly drawn characters I’ve seen in recent daytime and I sat through GL’s last 5 years. Not to mention every sceene would take place on those flimsy plastic Society and Grand Phoenix sets. No thanks.

I am sure B&B/CBS are taking every precaution but it prob wont be enough. Costs might end up outweighing the benefits. Hoping they can just bank up episodes until everything is on more solid footing.

Loving that some of the classics on CBS All Access include the old school bumpers with the actor stills and old closing credits with the actor shots on the right hand side. The last update from September 1999 (and that lasted through December 24, 1999 when the red satin porn opener debuted) included Eileen Davidson, David Tom, and Ashley Bashioum. Eileen was in one if the bumpers last week or the week before, I want to see their closing credit shots. This was also when CBS switched over to the network closing credits. I hope we get to aee another epi from the late 1999 period
