The reintroduction of Liz's parents was soooooo poooor! I'm pissed the episode isn't available yet so i can watch Aunt Jordan's entrance! this is so much fun, was working on ATWT clips this week, so collen coming back to daytime is an extra nice treat

I've Never really watched ATWT. Just binge watching Barbara Ryan clips now lol

    That's a very clever promo!

Last year on UglyX we waged a fan campaign when we could see that GH was going to have to cast Liz's parents. We told Frank to hire Robert Newman (free from Y&R by then) & Colleen & Colleen was quite active at the time so she took part.

I saw people suggesting Robert for Jeff Webber. I think he's done with soaps lol, he said in interviews he hates Los Angeles. He would only do another daytime show if it was in New York.

That's fascinating and sad for those who lost their shows.

Am I crazy to believe we won't see any shows cancelled in the near future? If Days underperforms they could just reduce the number of episodes, GH would go to streaming, the Bells could produce B&B independently and license it to a streaming service and international channels, and I actually think Y&R would be in the most trouble because its audience is old and it has no buzz, though I guess it could go to Paramount for a while.

I feel good about how the shows are then something not good happens lol like, "This show is going to streaming" then "YR fires all its writers!" Then SOD stops publishing its Magazine.

Passions had already been shipped off to DirecTV which had way more subscribers than it does now. There was a time, I believe, NBC had published episodes of the show on NBC.com but I don't remember it exactly. I doubt Peacock, which itself isn't a success, would have helped. I do think they could still do a reboot on Peacock with how much it costs them to have DAYS but the difference is NBC half-owned the show which means they'd have to put more of their own money into the budget. It would also take someone with power or whispering skills to get the thought working into the big bosses heads.

Guiding Light could have survived a few more years but the Peapack nonsense would have to have been scrapped sooner rather than later. Some web series have better productions and I'm talking early iterations of web series. That said, Paramount+ couldn't save it no more than SoapCity.com with its pay per episode plot could. Sadly.

    Thanks for explaining! :)

  5. Now you mentioned you think Passions and Guiding Light probably would have still been canceled. Agreed! But. With how streaming services are now. Do you think CBS and NBC would have maybe just plopped them onto Paramount+ and Peacock with Days or no? I understand Gls budget was super, super low. So even if it lived past 09 idk what else they could have cut.

Other than a big bump for the shows in 2013 (not sure why), I'd say that AMC would be in the 1.6-1.7 million range with OLTL around 1.8-1.9, or even over 2 million based on GH occupying its slot since September 2012 and it having the better ratings. Of course, OLTL didn't always do better than GH so it could also be doing AMC numbers based on my sample.

GL I hate to say would probably still have gotten canceled, but would be in the range of The Talk while ATWT would be in the 1.4-1.5 range. I'm basing this on how they were doing at the time of cancellation relative to what programs are doing now. Passions would definitely have been canceled as it was doing what DAYS was doing prior to its move to Peacock. Which means it would likely have been under a million viewers.

    Thanks! You you and Boldrestless

Sight. I miss soaps so much!!!!

Why oh why, can't some network executive wake up and realize that only soaps will thrive in today's markets? The second highest-rated talk show (syndication) is Kelly Clarkson with just 1.3 million viewers. GH, B&B and Y&R get over 2 million DAILY.

Back on topic: You're right, that is the same theme, but a very small snippet. Only a true soap fan could catch it.

I still want them to go back to the old one. The CGI used in the current one is a mess.

Hey Eroll off topic question I hope you can answer. Let's say in some alternative timeline the canceled soaps never got canceled, we still had AMC, OLTL, GL, ATWT, Passions. What do you think their ratings would be? based on what the current 3 are doing currently.

It's a CBS promo. They probably asked their cast to share it on their social channels. From the outset, it sounds like music from the As The World Turns theme without being the literal theme (copyright) to tie in her role on that show to her new one on The Young and the Restless to hopefully woo in lapsed soap viewers.

They did the same with Robert Newman, walks into a restaurant set all surprised: "wait, this isn't Springfield!?"

Kudos to Y&R-this story seems to be getting a lot of attention.

However, it will probably amount to nothing.

I get a feeling Cole will be innocent in all of this.

If Claire is Eve I will personally lure Josh Griffith to an isolated cottage and keep him captive.

    🤣

I'm not super thrilled about Cole being involved with this storyline, but happy he's back! If he *is* involved, I really hope it's not as a bad guy, the same way they turned Stitch and JT into insta-villains.

I'm starting to think Claire might be baby Eve so I say it's either Jordan stole her as a baby or Cole wanted her raised away from the Newman's?

She Does! All she is missing is the big wh*re hair! 🤣

Question since I haven't watched much lately! Is Audra still sleeping with Tucker on The Side? If so I want Ashley To catch them and pull a Tea! 😅

She's teaming up with him to take over Jabot. And even recruited Kyle and they've been together but Kyle has since had a change of heart about betraying his family so they had a big fight where she said he's a coward and not a real man compared to Tucker lol

New SOD article: Claire leaves Nikki in Oregon, while she goes to Genoa City to lure in more Newmans
     https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/exclusive-yr-preview-nikki-falls-off-the-wagon/

Griffith says “While Drunk Nikki is entertaining for the audience, thanks to Melody Thomas Scott’s [Nikki] amazing portrayal, this chapter of the story finds Nikki in a very different place.”

DC: I'm so happy you brought up her being a schemer! She's really she felt like an old-school soap vixen. What do you think of Audra being the return of a classic soap character?

ZS: I don't know where I read that before. I've heard that a few times already, and I think it's a compliment, right? I've been getting a few messages from fans telling me, “You remind me so much of old-school Jill (Jess Walton)!”

    💯 👏
