I’m glad the Audra and Nate friendship has been remembered. She really is all over the canvas and it works, I love her. Lord she’s going to drag Nate back to the dark side just as he makes up with his family.

I'm glad too, they were teaming up earlier this year but that was sort of backburned.

I agree.  Instead of feeling sorry for Claire, I want her to (be exposed as a fraud and then) disappear (and take her "aunt" with her).

It's as if the man is afraid CBS and/or Sony will interfere, so he's telling stories as fast as he can before they get the chance.

"Yeah, Josh, about this Claire being Eve business -- "

"Too late!  It's already wrapped up and now she's moved onto having Chance's baby!"

    Lol

Has Griffith had pacing problems before? This keeps happening..

Phyllis faking her death lasted a month and a half.

Kyle teamed up with Victor in February and that lasted literally ONE week.

2020, Elena and Nate cheated on Devon and it got discovered within the same month.

Ashland being killed by nick was wrapped up in a month.

I'm not saying Bill Bell wouldn't have had someone poison all the Newmans simultaneously...but I am saying he would've taken more time to build up to it.  A LOT more time.

Yeah. Someone earlier said this probably should have taken 3-6 months. Agreed! should have seen her make herself more integral in the newmans lives before the kidnapping and poisoning.

Claire came on Oct 2nd and kidnapped Nikki around Nov 14th. A bitttt fast lol

  4. Thanks everyone for the replies. Love reading what you all thought of him

Another question I guess I have is: Kay Alden was his protégé right? When he stepped back as the head Writer in 98, was there any major differences with her material and his or was the transition seamless? I do things started to get iffy when Jack Smith got more power but, his son had cancer or something.

So, is CZ basically wanting to be a James Stenbeck type of character that continually wreaks murder and mayhem before disappearing into the ether?

I think she just meant she likes the material shes been given. She just said that she hopes fans like Jordan so one day she can return for another stint.

Fyi there is some website out there that calls itself "soapoperamagazine.com"
Back in September, when Billy Miller passed away, an article from that website was circulating saying he died from a neurological disorder.  At that time, I looked into the website, and discovered it had been around only since February 2023, and their content didn't look reputable. (They later removed that incorrect article and replaced it with the correct information via the statement from his mother).

That website no longer has an "about" page.
This is the "about page" they had on their site as of October 2023:
    https://web.archive.org/web/20231014180126/https://soapoperamagazine.com/about-us/
That page gives biographies of three of their writers, which say that the writers are "a veteran soap columnist", "a respected soap columnist" and "a seasoned soap columnist".  Has anyone heard of those writers before?  There are many soap writers I'm unfamiliar with.

They have a sketchy article up now that has the title: "The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Aunt Jordan and Claire Caught and Cuffed"
-link-   which sounds like a headline but then if you click to read, it gives  *speculation* based on that Nov. 18 tweet from Christian Le Blanc that shows him with Hayley Erin and Colleen Zenk with a barred window in in the background.
-link to tweet-    The headline makes it definitive but the writeup says it's speculation.

I don't really care about any of that... there are many viewers who are speculating about CLB's tweet.   We are all trying to guess what might happen.

Colleen Zenk has been replying to or retweeting a few comments on her presence on Y&R.  She's appreciating that fans are welcoming her back to daytime.

She retweeted somebody's post linking to that "soapoperamagazine.com" article.  Does Colleen know that
    "soapoperamagazine.com" is not a well-known site?
Or would it matter?  Maybe it's just fun for her to read the buzz about her being on Y&R, and not intended to be a serious endorsement of anything.

I was listening to that podcast you and Donna linked, she seems very happy. Says the cast and crew are kind and she wants jordan to click for the fans so she can come back. Because, she's not here forever.

In my opinion... he is like if John Steinbeck, Dostoevsky or Chekhov were working in daytime.

His stories are realistic, you know these people, you can instantly identify with them. He knows how to build a story, slowly wrapping your imagination and interest, with catastrophic climax in the end. He creates compelling heroes and amazing villains. He understands women and a woman's psyche.

His dialogue is unmatched with dripping sarcasm, irony blended with sharp comebacks and dramatic tension and suspense.

Just look at his character of Stephanie in the first 7 seasons - she is so overwhelmingly intimidating, her words cutting to the bone. Her mere presence making people scared. You can only write a character to be so strong. A genius actress cannot save a bad script. He made all his characters have their own unique voice.

One very strong argument is that he knows how to write the opportunistic valley girl trying to invade the matriarch's castle. This is his best story and he does it so perfectly, even movies like All about Eve or The Favourite are not at that level in my opinion.

In the end, most importantly, when you watch a Bill Bell storyline you learn about humanity and about psyche. It's like reading East of Eden or The Brother Karamazov. You feel enriched in the end. Like you know something new about people.

Of course he has little slip-ups but I can count on one hand the *not so good moments* in the first 1600 episodes of Bold. Really on one hand and it's mostly casting issues and one storyline dragging the other more interesting ones. Also he is capable of writing sometimes 5-6 stories at one time and all of them are good. All of them. There is no filler.

Bill Bell is really not overrated. I think he deserves more awards now after his death and he deserves to be remembered and remembered and Remembered.

That sounds very good. I'll watch those B&B episodes.

  8. As a person who started watching the shows well after he passed away, I just want to know. What about Bill Bells writing made his stories and shows the top standard?

Not trying to troll or anything and be like "OH HE WASN'T THAT GOOD!" I know he was one of the greats. Just I rarely find episodes of his stuff. So I hope some people can help me understand. What about his writing just made people fall in love with it and continue to praise it almost 30 years after he stopped? Because I see comments from people who say like, even back when pretty much the most of them were in decent states his writing was still top tier compared.

I know he's amazing not denying it. Just sadly never got to experience it so I guess the better question is, what resonated to you most about his writing?

    Thanks in advance!

Well, I did suggest that the show bring back Heather Stevens with Vail Bloom in the role, to complicate Daniel’s relationship with Lily because I thought Stevens and Graziadei had good chemistry and they did it.  I am not giving any more ideas for free.

Well, thank you for that. 🤣

Oh no doubt, but I had really wanted Mariah to just be Cassie, whisked away by Ian Ward as revenge. Same thing with Hilary/Amanda, these twin retcons are just obnoxious.

Bringing back a character who was a presumed dead baby in soaps isn’t new, I mean Marland was highly successful with the twist of Sabrina Hughes being alive and well. But we all know Josh Griffith is definitely no Doug Marland so brace for the worst, especially since this story seems like it’s about to move at lightning speed here into December.

I don't know what he's doing with the pacing.

Like, Phyllis framing Diane for her murder lasted just two months.

Victor faking dementia lasted a month before the reveal.

Claire goes crazy in the span of a month after her introduction.

    But, some stuff.

Nick/Sally/Adam triangle drags on for more then a year.

Summer/Chance/Sharon triangle drags on and on.

We had to endure the Diane return and now this.

Digging into the past shouldn't mean coming up with dumb retcons that resurrect dead characters.

Interesting to see if Eve has more longevity than Allie.

And the explanation as to why Jordan has waited decades for revenge, which at this point consists of gathering the Newmans together and poisoning them.

They atleast explained why Eve never mentioned a sister. Victor asked and she said they were estranged so Jordan just never came up lol

  12. Jordan hit Cole in the head with a hammer and later revealed she is Eve Howard's sister and she's been waiting 40 years for this. She revealed she poisoned the Newman's and will watch them die.  At the end Claire brought Cole out. Victoria asks what he's doing here.

Claire: "he had to be here for the family reunion...didn't he mother?"

They cut a short scene where Nicholas visits Victoria. Other than that I noticed a few spots where they might have very subtly cut dialogue within a scene. They honestly could have cut both Michael scenes since they didn't connect to any other story, but I'm glad they didn't.

They obviously replaced the music during Nina and Ryan's dance, but the tune in the original doesn't sound like a famous song.

Thank you. Did they remove the fade to black in the 2020 reruns as well? Felt weird for it to just cut to the credits in these older shows.
