But I think I am the wrong audience..maybe women love the weak sensitive bad boy?

Ha, reading that I want to say NO NO NO but then I did love Bryce's Craig and I do agree somewhat that he was what you say... so maybe? lol I haven't seen much of bad early Craig with MR's Betsy, but I loved the Craig that was in love with but separated from Sierra, Craig that was still friends with Frost's Betsy, Craig that loved Dani like his own when she was little. Craig and Iva was, just no. I don't understand the actresses popularity, did people like Iva at the time??

  2. I've been watching BandstandMike's 1991 episodes as he puts them up, and I've watched a few random storylines (Blake/Ross which was my favorite so far, Maureen's Death, what I can find of Carrie Todd), but can anyone recommend a good GL storyline that's up on You Tube?? I'm not a super huge Reva fan, lol, so preferably not her (though it's fine if she's in it, just not the focus). I didn't start watching GL until 1997 so everything before that is new to me.

The whole thing where Craig ends up getting framed after he follows Sierra up to Foxwood Lodge when she discovers that Tonio had the affair with Barbara.

I remember watching this on a friend's tapes a while back (yeeeears ago!) and realizing that despite being in love for AGES, Craig and Sierra slept together that night and conceived Bryant, then Craig was presumed dead for a while, then when he got back to Oakdale he found out Sierra was presumed dead, then eventually he found out she was alive and he went to find her/left the show.

Thinking about this now... who had Bryant while Craig was dead from the plane crash, then immediately Sierra was dead from whatever in Montega??

  4. I've been watching along with the 1991 episodes and oh man do I wish Melina would drop the Greek accent. I've seen episodes from the end of her run and she never did drop it! I totally figured she'd pull a Mac Scorpio (GH) and phase it out. It's probably only weird to me because I loved Providence and remember her from that.

No! Clarissa should've been a hot mess much like Holly and Blake were in their youth. It would've been funny to see Blake try and reel in and clean up Clarissa's messes much like Holly did hers and Barbara with Holly's messes.

I also love the idea of Clarissa having sooo much ammunition to throw back at Blake (and maybe Holly) because really what could Clarissa really do that would be worse than the things Blake did!

I agree with everything you said about Kevin/Rick, except in any fantasy future GL Ross has to not be dead!!! I don't care if he never died, was in a coma for 10+ years, or was raised by a mad scientist as long as he's not dead. Maybe he's been living in Goshen for years :)

But there it is, why was Blake (and Ross) off contract but they would keep Frank and Buzz? Switch that off and have your longest running vet and his wife head up a new young family.

The weird part of that is that generally the push at that time was ditch the vets and put young cheap hot people on contract instead. But Frank and Buzz?? lol Not young or hot, I have no idea about cheap but JD probably wasn't and FD had been around for a long time at that point so he couldn't have been cheaper than a newbie. Anyway, I'm sad we never saw teenage Jason/Kevin/Clarissa. Mostly because I think watching Blake get a bit of a comeuppance dealing with a teenage daughter would be hilarious. I'd imagine the nice calm Ross genetics wouldn't override the Roger/Holly/Blake crazy ones.

Unrelated question, watching some old episodes and Dylan and Sam are babysitting Susan/Daisy. Mrs. Lemay is enormously pregnant. I was watching when Brittany Snow's Susan came back but I don't remember her having an adoptive brother or sister. Did they ever say what happened to the baby Mrs. Lemay was pregnant with then?? I remember her being dead when Susan arrived, then Jim arriving a while later but not with another child in tow.

the Marler children were still young and Holly and Blake were both off contract for a good part of the final years. If they could have gotten to a point with the Marler kids as teens in stories and they used Holly and Blake in more functional roles, I'd agree.

The twins were around the age they usually SORAS them into teens. They were born in 96 right? Jumping from 10 years old in 2006 to 15 or 16 wouldn't have been too crazy. By the end even Clarissa could have been aged to a young teenager.

  8. Dumb question, the Brent/Marion story... the audience is supposed to realize that Marion is actually Brent in disguise right? Obviously the characters don't realize it, but viewers were supposed to right? I am so curious how someone watching that story without knowing how it will go would have reacted.

  9. The particularly weird thing to me was that I don't recall Karen ever talking about or wondering about who her father was. Unlike Jenna on AW, which I watched recently, who talked constantly about who her father might be but they never did the story then she left!

  10. I've been watching GH storylines that aired before I started watching (started watching during Stone and Robin in 95) and I just finished Karen & Jagger's story. Anyone know why they seemed to tack on "Oh yeah Scott is your father!" at the last second? Karen left immediately after, Scott wasn't in town, and Karen never told Gail and Lee! It seemed like maybe him being her father had been the plan all along? Rhonda ran into him semi-frequently and they talked about having been in high school together, but if they didn't have time to actually tell the story while any of the people involved were still on the show I don't get why they dropped the info at all.

  11. First post here... So I have recently been working my way through various famous storylines from soaps on You Tube (GH - BJ's heart, Karen and Jagger, Stone and Robin; AW 1990-1992; and a few others). I watched GL while I was in college because it was on at 10am so it didn't conflict with GH (my gateway soap) and that was around 1999.

Anyway, I just watched Maureen's death, then remembered that I loved Holly, Blake and Ross when I watched in the late 90s/early 00s and went back to watch them from SS's time onward. HOLY MOLY I just had no idea that Guiding Light was that good! I honestly think the early 90s on GL was the best soap I have ever seen. Better than Labine's GH or Marland's ATWT (seen lots of it on You Tube). It's written so much more intelligently than the others, the dialog was practically poetry at points!

Side note, I watched Maureen's death before I ever saw the character in anything else and it took like one or two scenes of her with Michelle or Blake and I was already sad she was about to die.
