Soap star Jensen Buchanan back in jail after allegedly violating probation; no bail set

Hopefully Buchanan gets the help she needs, and she finds inner peace 🙏🏼

Eek, when Anne Heche turns out to have been the sane Vicky portrayer... but seriously, I hope she gets the help she needs. I doubt jail or probation is going to do the trick though.

Oh my Lord- thank you for posting that!!  It's so frustrating trying to piece together what happens in-between the available episodes on YouTube. Although I have the 40th anniversary book with a detailed synopses, there's no particular order to each year in it. Weekly synopses from SOD will be a GIANT help in me keeping track as I go through the show!!!

Yes!! I've just started at 1985 and I'm mid-way through 1986 now, so this will be super helpful!

I'm the same age as Kimberly McCullough, and was in high school when the AIDS story aired. It has to go down as the most important teen storyline in the annals of daytime drama, and one of the best ever on TV - period.

I'm a little younger but I was also in high school when that aired and I have to say, pathetic as it may be, I learned everything I knew about AIDS from GH back then. About safe sex too. Robin and Stone, along with Ned and Lois, really drew me into GH.

  4. I've been watching the 1985ish Felicia and Frisco storyline on you tube (it is fantastic, I've never seen it before). Its around 1985 and Tania just announced she was pregnant. Shortly after that Tony was apparently shot? There's a skip in the clips, was she pregnant with BJ or did she miscarry a baby before they had BJ?

  5. I've been watching 1993-4 AMC on You Tube and it really struck me how many black characters there were! They had stories! They were treated like actual people! What on earth happened on ABC Daytime to make it go so far backwards since then? Was there a minority purge at some point? I started watching AMC around 1996, I remember Derrick and Danielle later on, but Mimi, Terrence, Livia, the guy who thinks he's Danielle's father right now, they were all gone.

Vanessa pretending to be Sue Ellen Ewing.

Vanessa just drives me nuts. Her breathy "daddy!" ugh. Sue Ellen Ewing = super entertaining, Vanessa = super annoying.

Poor Hart was snowed when it comes to Blake.

This Hart seems hopelessly naive about pretty much everyone so far.

Didnt Cady begin shortly after this episode???

Yup, I think the next time Dixie was on it was the voiceover saying "the role of Dixie Cooney..." Or at least the next episode that was up on You Tube in the 1988 playlist.

  8. I've been watching 1988/89 AMC on You Tube and OMG it is so good. I watched from 96 or so to the end, so this stuff is mostly new to me. The Adam/Brooke/Dixie/Tad story is just so fun. Gotta say, I never realized how close to Laura's death Dixie slept with Brooke's husband!!! Poor Brooke had a lot to deal with. It actually surprises me how lots of people (myself included) ended up liking Dixie, because she's pretty dumb, naive, sleeping with a married man, thinking she loves him and he is so clearly not interested in her at all. And Adam may be my truest love to hate character. I always just hated Erica, but Adam is so gloriously evil I love it.

Oh and the most hilarious thing was an episode with Kari Gibson's Dixie!!! Let's just say I can see why she was replaced.

Marcy Walker and Barbara Crampton are classic examples of not adjusting stories to fit what the actors bring to the table.

It's funny that they couldn't do it with them, when they had just done it with Blake and adjusting her character to Liz Kiefer.

Matt and Vanessa were a snooze fest IMO.

I agree so much. I always thought he was like a body with no personality. And weirdly, I've never been a fan of Vanessa. Way too much "Daddy!" from her, which is funny because Blake is one of my favorites and she had a major case of daddy issues.

What was the general dislike about Holly and Fletcher? The baby storyline I get the hate for, especially because it went nowhere and ended up making Holly look like the worst mother out there/insane. But I thought Fletcher was a pretty good match for her. However, they were already together when I started watching GL in college so perhaps it was the lead up to it that wasn't good?

I hate how GH got rid of her and the Wards by the end of the 90s.

Oh god though, Justus was great and then he became a MOB lawyer and they recast him and it was just sad and awful. I totally agree about Amelia Marshall, her AMC character was a shadow of what Gilly was, but I loved her on AMC regardless. I think the lack of diversity on soaps nowadays is just ridiculous. The audience you could gain by having a diverse cast with diverse storytelling has to be so much greater than the racist backwards hicks you'll lose.

I think Ally and Cooper married around the time the baby was born for insurance purposes. After seeing the 1993 episodes, I think Cooper might have used the insurance situation to trap Ally, but I could be wrong.

From what I gather watching the SoapSupercouples You Tube's Casey/Ally playlist, Ally married Cooper for insurance so she could have the baby in the hospital, otherwise she couldn't afford it. Then she was going to divorce him, but Cooper was going to take the baby (I think) after he found out Ally slept with Casey. Casey made a deal with Cooper, he'd stay away from Ally if Cooper let her have the baby, Tyler. That's when Casey and Steffi pretended to sleep together (I can't remember if they actually did once, I think so).

The playlist goes through Casey/Ally's wedding, but apparently not all the way to his death (I'm at the wedding now).

I just think that many of the key players (Phillip/Ed) were missing to contribute to that story.

Oh my gosh, Ed was a huge hole in that storyline for sure. I think Blake had to have some great writing and good acting to remain even partly likable given all her shenanigans over the years!

    But I liked Liz Keifer's Blake.

SS is my favorite of the two, but LK was somehow able to make me even like the twins by two fathers ridiculous story! I think my favorite thing about Blake from SS's Blake through the late 90s Blake was how present her parental issues were in everything she did. She was insecure in her relationship with Ross because of all her daddy (and mommy) issues.

Going back and watching old GL episodes I am always struck by how completely different Glenn Close chick's Blake was (forgetting her name, something Dennehy?).

I'd rather watch vintage soap opera episodes on youtube than the drek CBS is offering us now.

I'm actually having a ball watching old soap storylines that I've heard about and never seen. Early 90s Guiding Light, anything from Loving, various time periods of Another World. I need to hit up ATWT though I have seen a lot of the 80s and 90s from a friend's tapes. There are so many famous storylines that are still talked about for a good reason, they are super fun and engaging. Nothing I've seen on a soap in the last 10 years has remotely come close to those vintage stories!

There was a time when I felt that the show was trying really hard to replace the Viki/Dorian feud with Nora/Lindsay

I always saw both Dorian and Viki as strong women, their feud didn't seem to diminish either of them too much (I watched from the mid90s to the end). Nora and Lindsay though, to me, made Nora seem weak and Lindsay seem crazy. Probably didn't help that they had ridiculous stories between them, Nora trying to give Bo a replacement child blah blah.

I commented Collins has mulled down a child while high on pills but if I recall right that was actually Gayheart.

Was she high when that happened?? I'll never see her in anything without thinking about the child she killed. From what I recall, she was behind a car that stopped at a crosswalk, she pulled out around the car to speed by him and that's when she hit and killed the child. Incredibly sad, incredibly preventable, and I don't know how she lives with herself. Especially now that she has children of her own.

More on topic, I never watched Loving, but I saw most of The City's run and liked it a lot. Recently I've gone back and watched Ally/Casey clips on You Tube and I love them, but the real stand out to me has been Lisa Peluso's Ava!! I loooooove her.  Anyone know if there are any of her storylines up on You Tube? Or what her best stories were? Also it cracks me up to like Ally and Casey as I hate LW's Carly so much my skin crawls at the thought of her, and PAS's Danny was not my cup of mobster tea on GL.

And Ryan returned to Vicky because he loved her! Y'all are gonna leave Ryan and Vicky's love alone!

I think Ryan and their relationship is probably the biggest reason Jensen's Vicky took off. They were so fantastic, and AH and PMV's chemistry was some of the best I've seen on soaps.

She was asked again to sub in for Jensen as a temp recast in September 1998, at the height of her stardom.  That time, she actually wanted to do it- it was only going to be a 2 week gig and she was all for it.

I feel like that would have been super painful to have Anne back for just two weeks, then lose her again! I liked Jensen's Vicky enough, but she wasn't even in the same stratosphere as Anne's portrayal. Love when actors aren't ashamed of their soapy past, fine to joke about having evil twins and all the silly soap tropes, but I love when actors make it to the big time and look back fondly on their soapy starts.
