EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Before the actress who played Shabnam left, it looked like they were setting up Inzamam being her father. Some thought the possible reasoning behind the animosity behind Zainab and Inzamam's relationship could have been him raping her and producing Shabnam (although he wouldn't yet know he was her father). Sounds a bit Kat/Zoe/Harry, but still has potential.

Didn't some people think Shabnam's real father could have been Masood's brother Inzamam?

I've not seen that anywhere else, I think it may be made up. Someone else on DS also said that Shabnam Masood may be returning. But I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I also have to add, I like that they're writing Dot Cotton again, and not that Dot Branning crap. I think Kirkwood really gets Dot, and she's felt a lot like her old self lately. Her goodbye scenes with Liz were so interesting to watch. Dot was obviously being cold towards Liz because she didn't want to lose her and be more alone than she already is.

I'm surprised they announced a Lauren re-cast before they did for Ben or Lucy. I guess it's because Melissa hasn't finished airing yet as Lucy and Charlie just finished airing as Ben. At least she looks like Abi's big sister now. There were times I thought Lorna and Maddie were the same age.

Transition periods take time, Kirkwood still has to finish off most of Santer's work, which is coming to a close anyway. But it will take time to set up his own stories and build them up. December/January would be a more accurate time to judge him based on his own stories.

Today's episode: Lisa's return was short, and probably shouldn't have been promoted as much, but it got the job done. Her one-off return was clearly about explaining the loose ends in this story and why Louise was brought back, and to get Louise off the show again. I think they did a good job in that aspect, and it wasn't meant to be something overtly huge. I'm happy that Lisa mentioned Jamie and Phil's relationship with him. I know some are upset by the low-key exit that Chelsea, Libby, and Liz got, but really? Those characters just came off the Lucas story, and they were never anything more than secondary characters during most of their run. Their exits were the the best we could have gotten frankly. I thought the scenes between Denise and her girls were really good, and it was sad to see her in tears at the end with both of her girls gone, but realizing that it's for the best. I'm glad Darren got to say goodbye to Libby. Looks like Carol will be getting some loving soon. I had to laugh at her exchange with Rainie. "I thought you had overdosed years ago!" I thought Peggy was heartbreaking in this episode and Barbara Windsor did a great job with Peggy being conflicted about giving Louise to Lisa, or to keep her with Phil. The scene where Lisa asked Peggy if she can guarantee her that Phil wouldn't hurt Louise was great.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
It was never discussed on-screen since Grant and Michelle slept together soon after Sharon left (their argument that led to sex was about Grant's poor treatment of Sharon), but I always assumed she had to have told Sharon who the father of her son was while they were living together all those years in America, and still living together since Sharon's second exit. Michelle left a couple of months after Sharon did in 1995, Sharon had to have worked that timeline out.

Ben Thompson (Ryan Connor) has been fired: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/soaps/3080873/Corries-Connor-is-a-goner.html Can they fire Kym Marsh now too please?

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
The Grant stuff was never explicitly said, but I assume Michelle had to have told her at some point, given the age of her son and the fact Sharon was living with/close to her while in America. I think they wanted Susan back when Grant came back briefly in 2005, and before that when they brought Vicky back. I think the stuff with Grant will remain unresolved since neither Susan or Ross are coming back.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Susan Tully retired from acting, right? I know she was asked back several times and said no. Grant and the Mitchells still don't know Michelle left town pregnant with Grant's son. That's something that's never been resolved, Sharon must be the only one who knows. It's amazing that Sharon and Michelle remained BFF's, when Michelle got knocked up by both Sharon's father and her ex-husband.

I think what really stung Phil and got that reaction out of him was Peggy of all people calling him a bad father and saying Louise would be better off without him. She's done nothing but whitewash the mistakes of her children and stick up for them when she knows they're wrong. It's a bit surprising that she told Phil that. Mo: Last thing we need is YMCA blasting off at all hours!

Today's episode: Wow, Bianca mentioned Alan, so they haven't forgotten about him. The scenes with Carol and that recruiting officer were funny and typical Carol. I really hate Whitney when she's in all-Billie mode, like she was today. He's not worth it, ugh. Mo's homophobia. I really enjoy Denise and Zainab's friendship. They didn't have to play out the scenes with Denise first being back at home with her family, but I'm glad they did. I can understand Chelsea wanting to leave after all that's happened. Had I not already known Phil would slap the sh!t out of Peggy, I would have been shocked by the cliffhanger. Though, didn't Grant also slap the sh!t out of her once too? I'm looking forward to Thursday's episode with Lisa's one-off appearance.

I always laugh at this Truemans vs. Slaters fight. It gets particularly hilarious when Patrick has Mo in a headlock. I hope Kat wears lots of animal prints on her return! <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sveJg2LmKM&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sveJg2LmKM&hl=en_US&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sveJg2LmKM&hl=en_US&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Phil may be an exhausted character at times, but I don't know if I could say Steve McFadden is a bad actor or incompetent. When he's given the material, which I think the drug story has potential to be, he more than upholds his end of things.

I really hope they don't get rid of Sam Aston. He's one of the most natural younger actors that I've seen, and Chesney is so likable. When he gets older and grows into his looks more, he'll be a cute ginger boy.

I think he's one of the recruitment officers that Carol will come in contact with and possibly go on a date with.

If Sam were here to stay longer, perhaps she would have been a good Mitchell left over presence there. Alfie always seemed like a better big brother type to her than Grant and Phil ever were. Kat and Alfie are on the cover of the new Inside Soap Magazine, new pics of Jessie and Shane are used, Michael is also on the cover, as well as stock pics of Peggy and Roxy. Someone on DS also said that Kacey Ainsworth (Little Mo) was spotted at the Elstreet Studios today, though she may be recording something for a possible Kat/Alfie Revealed special. Though I can see Little Mo back for a short while if they kill off Charlie. I hated how they f.ucked over Little Mo and Billy with the rape fiasco and then Little Mo/Alfie. If they every write Billy out, I'd want him to reunite with Little Mo.

I wonder what will happen with the staff at the Vic overall. Chelsea, Roxy, Ronnie, and Peggy won't be there. Will Kat and Alfie keep Shirley on? Tracy will definitely be kept on, since that's her only role. Plus, I'm sure Mo and Michael will be living with Kat and Alfie if/when they get to run the Vic.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Today's episode seemed like one of those episodes that's smacked in the middle of a big transitional period for the show. Nothing really happened, but there was some new stuff. Max and Darren were hilarious again, especially when Max sliced the top out of that cucumber. I can understand completely why Ricky doesn't want to have sex with a shrew like Bianca. The Bianca, Whitney, and Carol scenes were funny, and it looks like they're setting up Carol getting a new love interest too, when Bianca brought up how long its been since Carol had a man. Vanessa definitely has OCD, especially with the way she properly folded her clothes when she thought she was going to have sex with Max. The Pat and Peggy destroying the Vic stuff was cheesy and a bit unnecessary, but I did laugh a few times. I can see why Peggy would be hurt that Roxy wants to sell that place knowing how much it means to Peggy. This episode also seemed to be set-up for Lisa's one-off return on Thursday. Loved Zainab going over to help clean Patrick's house. The Jordan and Patrick scenes were really good, it helped that the actor playing Jordan didn't do very much in them. I guess Chelsea, Libby, and Liz will all go off to Spain together, and that will be their exit.

Alfie was planned when Yorke was still there, but he made his debut when Berridge was credited and she made him a focal point of the show and brought in family for him. I don't know if they'll ever bring the Wickes back, maybe they can bring David back for Carol? Steven was so badly damaged during his last return, I wonder if they would even try there.
