CORY MANSION

Amanda walks into the bedroom and finds Cameron…packing.

Cameron: You’re back from the office.

Amanda: And you look like you’re ready to go.

Cameron: Haven’t seen my brother in years.

Amanda: I’m sure he’ll be glad to see you.

Cameron: Right.

Amanda: Are you happy about going to see Gary or…getting away from me.

Cameron stops packing, walks up to Amanda, and gently straddles her cheek.

Cameron: I love you so much.

Amanda: Then talk to me. Tell me what you’re feeling.

Cameron: I’ve been doing a lot of thinking

Amanda: Have you come to any conclusions?

Cameron: I’m going to see Gary, but I might not be coming back.

Charlie opens the door…

Charlie: Aunt Stacey.

Stacey: Hi. Now I know it’s been a long time since I’ve seen you. You are all grown up.

Charlie: When did you get in town?

Stacey: About an hour ago. Is Lindsay here?

Cass walks into the living room.

Cass: Nope she’s at work.

Stacey: Good.

Charlie: I was just going out to the Center.

Stacey: That new place they built. Looks really nice.

Charlie: Good to see you.

Stacey: You too.

Cass: Careful out there honey.

Charlie: Bye dad!

Cass and Stacey watch Charlie leave and walk into the house.

Stacey: No matter how much they grow up, they’re always gonna be your little girl.

Cass: Can I get you something?

Stacey: I had something on the plane. I’m not hungry.

Cass: So how long are you in town?

Stacey: However long it takes to stop MY little girl from making a big mistake.

Jake and Vicky leave the counselor’s office.

Vicky: So did you take plenty of notes?

Jake: Of course I did.

Vicky: Can’t stop being a reporter?

Jake: Like riding a bike. You never forget how to do it.

Vicky: Jake…do you think we can make it?

Jake: I think we’re on our way.

Vicky: Well let me go to the restroom for a minute.

Jake watches Vicky leave. He turns around and drops his pen and pad…and Lindsay gives them to him.

Lindsay: You dropped these.

CAMERA PAN ON LINDSAY…SLOW FADE TO THEME SONG

Amanda: You don’t mean that Cameron.

Cameron: I would love to stay and be with you.

Amanda: Then why don’t you. It was all a huge misunderstanding.

Cameron: Yes it was.

Amanda: Well then why don’t you want to work things out?

Cameron: I do…more than you know.

Amanda: Well then why are you talking about not coming back?

Cameron: You’re in denial.

Amanda: About what?

Cameron: You’ve fallen for him. You’re in love with Allen. I saw how he held you that night. I understand why you turned to him. You thought I had divorced you, and you moved on…and I can’t blame you for that.

Cameron grabs his suitcase.

Amanda: Please we can work this out.

Cameron: I want to, but we can’t. You’re not in love with me anymore. Goodbye Amanda.

Cass: What are you talking about?

Stacey (sighs): She learned the truth about Derek.

Cass: Is that why you two broke up?

Stacey: Yeah.

Cass: This is why there’s so much tension between you two. Derek has something to do with it?

Stacey: Something like that. Not directly.

Cass: Well then tell me Stacey. You and Lindsay are my family. You can’t go on like this.

Stacey: Don’t you think I know that Cass? I am not gonna let Lindsay make a mistake that I know will hurt her.

Cass: So she learned the truth about her father so she came to Bay City.

Stacey: Exactly.

Cass: What did Derek do to her?

Stacey: Nothing Cass. Derek’s been a wonderful father to her. The only father she’s ever known.

Jake is at a water cooler, grabs a cup of water, takes a sip, and tosses it in the wastebasket, with Lindsay watching closely.

Cass: Then what was Lindsay trying to get away from?

Stacey: She’s not trying to get away from anything, except me. She’s coming TO something...

Cass: Or…someone? You said…Derek is the only father she’s ever known. It’s like you’re saying he was substituting for someone else. Are you saying he’s not her father

Stacey: No…he’s not.

Cass: So Lindsay came to Bay City to find her biological father?

Stacey: Yes…I’m afraid she did.

Cass: Then why are you trying to stop her?

Stacey: Because she’s going to be hurt. She might not get the response she’s looking for

Lindsay picks up the cup that Jake just drank from, and slips it in clear bag…while Gregory watches from a close distance.
