  1. Kate as Kristina just is not connecting for me. Being fully transparent, I was never the biggest fan of her on Days either so perhaps I'm biased, but I see a lot of posts on Twitter that seem to agree with me. I felt she started off okay but the more story they throw at her, the less I seem to care. She comes off so cold onscreen. And I know this is petty but does her particular brand of vocal fry irritate anyone else? I can't stand it lol.

I know the double Davis sisters recast was out of the show's control, but there is not a single thing that Kate has been given/performed that Lexi couldn't have handled just the same. I don't know if they wanted to 'age' Kristina physically for the 'adult' story of surrogacy, but no one gives a f#!k about this surrogacy story, for many valid reasons.

@alexisfan07 That pertains to speaking parts only I think - someone in the background would not have to paid.

Now for performers who return for a day or two -are they paid the current day player rate or the same amount that  were getting per episode when they were last on contract?

I don't think that's true for whether or not they speak in the clip because Days and GH have definitely blurred faces of people in the background before. They even zoomed in/cropped the shots that Josslyn was in during Willow's flashback to cut out Eden's neck and ear (quite extreme).

No, once their contract is up, it's up. They would negotiate a higher rate than a day player but there would be no automatic honoring of their contract rate. That said, I believe long-standing recurring actors have higher rates and that's why they don't use them constantly.

I'm sure someone will have a figure but what would the residual payment be for a short scene-a couple of hundred dollars?

Surely there is the budget for that?

If anyone can figure out the legal terminology, below is an excerpt on flashbacks from the Network Television Code contract. My (probably incorrect) understanding is unless the actor is in the current episode making their current rate, they would have to pay a then-contract actor 100% of the "minimum program fee" or a non-contract actor 100% of their "performance fee" at the time they filmed the episode used for the flashback. No idea what any of this means but sounds...expensive.

As flashbacks (brief scenes from one episode in a series used as part of a story in another episode in a series) provided that a performer in the flashback who is not otherwise engaged to perform services on the program in which the flashback is utilized shall be entitled to one-hundred percent (100%) of the applicable minimum program fee, or if not under contract at the time of such broadcast, one-hundred percent (100%) of his performance fee for the episode used in the flashback.

It's also 1000% why we hardly see any actors in flashbacks that aren't in the episode themselves. A few months ago, Ava flashed back to Adam Huss as Nikolas early in the episode and that's how I knew without a doubt he'd be in the episode in new footage by the time it was over (and I was right). 😅

I want to know if the editor missed Scott Clifton in the background of today's Bobbie/Tracy flashback or if Frank knew he was there but hoped no one would notice and he wouldn't have to pay him.

  4. She was supposed to be a doctor, top of her class, but came off as a 19-year-old brat with a low IQ. Not sure if it was the actress's portrayal, the writing, or both, but good riddance. She was horribly miscast in a completely pointless role.

  5. A despicable read from top to bottom. Is it possible the actress in the vile love scene part of the article is Linsey Godfrey? I know she's not the correct age cited here but maybe they're further protecting her identity. She was abruptly fired and Sarah shipped off to an island and then brought back on contract 10 months later, only to be abruptly written out again and booted to recurring a year after that. That timeline roughly matches the description in the article.

  6. This is really upsetting. If Lexi didn't want to commit/was over it, then I don't mind this. But you know damn well GH will be like, "We had to make the tough choice to move on because we want Kristina front and center and Lexi just wasn't as available as we'd hoped."

Lexi would've been available if they'd given her a contract like she deserved years ago. We know damn well Kate will be on contract and heavily featured from the jump.

Thanks!  After I posted, I noticed that Amelie McLain was in the Friday Feb 11th closing credits.   So weird that there seems to be no pattern.
I would have thought that they'd pick the recurring actors to credit by seniority, or number of lines that week, or significance. But it seems completely random.

JPS is always credited first and 99% of the time is credited even if he does not appear. The only week I've seen him removed was the week of Sean Donely's memorial last year, where they needed his slot for someone else.

For the other six actors credited, the only pattern that I've noticed is that if an actor doesn't appear that week, they'll delete their name from whatever spot they're in and replace their name with someone else. So from one week to the next, you'll notice the people that appear in both set of credits are in the same spot. But if they get deleted from the list and re-added in a later week, they'll be in a different spot, taking over from someone else who was deleted. Does that make sense? Therefore, the credit order is definitely completely meaningless but not completely random, lol.

  8. Really bummed about Abigail. I really grew to love what Marci was putting down in her latest return. Why is Ron so obsessed with killing vets/legacy characters? He did this at GH (Duke and AJ anyone?) and has been killing important female characters on Days every six months now too.

What evidence is there that RSW/Ben is done taping? Just curious because I'm hoping it's true. VK unfollowed RSW on Instagram weeks ago. There was speculation they were dating and broke up. I'm guessing that could be a factor in them being written out?

I can't stand Britt but that would actually be preferable to what appear to be their attempts to pair him with Maxie, who's half his damn age but they don't care anymore bc a) it's Howarth Character #3 and b) Kirsten Storms has aged about 20 years in 10.

I always forget you are Britt's like one and only detester. Roger and Kirsten have some chemistry but you're right, their ages are awkward and their characters together even more so.

Laura Wright posted a BTS of her and Cynthia Watros on the set of the shoot. I missed the Donnell & Tahj one... is it on her IG or Twitter? I'm hoping all the cast were on-set for the shoot, and that Disney-ABC actually gives us the images... not not tagged this time around. We still haven't received the full images from the 2018/2019 shoots.

Sent you a message! And yes, ABC is horrible about releasing photo shoots. I will never understand the complete lack of effort and follow through.

Hoping we get new credits this month with the new cast portraits! It's high time it happens.

We definitely will! They did a photoshoot at the end of September it it usually takes them 4-6 weeks to show up in the opening credits. I don't know who of the existing cast will get 'refreshes' but we'll see all the new contract faces in it. Haley posted behind the scenes of Donnell and Tajh doing photos together so the three of them should get refreshes at least.

I wish the teens actually did interesting things. What 18 year olds sit around talking about their parents all day? Especially their parents' love lives? Especially when it's summer and they're at the pool? Lame!

It's embarrassing and unrealistic how they write the teens as mini adults. Just boring and awful. I used to like William Lipton but his acting somehow regressed over time and now he's saddled with Eden, who isn't bad in theory, but smirks in EVERY scene and has LW's tics down to a T. More Spencer and Trina, less Cameron and Joss. Sadly, with Will recurring and these Joss flirtatiously pushing Spencer in the pool moments, we might have a Joss/Spencer/Trina triangle on our hands eventually.

Side note, love your avatar! Spencer's hair was epic haha.

Regarding the Shawn storyline, it's very obvious they're retconning the hell out of it. They’re doing a story about racial injustice and Black Lives Matter. They probably thought Sean Blakemore would never return so they could forget about who knew what when because they had zero plans to revisit the character. Now that Blakemore is back and Shawn is free, they have to pretend all these white people didn’t let this poor man rot for five years. They have to save face and make sure all these characters don't look like trash or the story’s entire message loses all credibility.

Of course - as is always the case with GH and it missed opportunities - the irony is that the more meaningful story would be playing into the fact that the writers and characters ignored Shawn's sentence this entire time, and have the show, its writers, and its characters atone for their past transgressions - not to mention, then there would be no need for this mass "fever dream" retconning they've cooked up to explain it away.

  13. I enjoyed Nikolas with Molly/TJ as well but let's keep in mind, it's all just plot point driven like any other family/friend interaction on the show. They interacted because Molly helped Shawn get out of prison and he's going after the person who is responsible for shooting Hayden...Nikolas.

I don't understand why the writers don't invest in non-plot point driven scenes between friends and family. Just put a post it on the computer screens to remind the writers to insert just normal, fun scenes within families a few times a month. If they fear normal family interactions would be "boring"...I hate to break it to them, but most of the conversations between characters are repetitive and boring already haha.
