  1. James joins the cast

    Mon 23 Mar

Former Hollyoaks actor James Sutton is joining Emmerdale.

The award-winning actor will play the son of newcomer Faye Lamb.

James, best known for his role as John Paul in Hollyoaks, is cast as Ryan, who arrives on screen in June to stay with his mum after losing his job.

Ryan quickly becomes embroiled in Faye’s plot for revenge against Mark Wylde, who is still battling to keep Faye’s identity under wraps, knowing his secret past could blow his family apart.

Ryan turns the heads of the local ladies and soon becomes romantically involved with Katie Sugden.

James, 26, says: "I'm thrilled to be joining a show as respected and well-loved as Emmerdale.

"It was always on in our house when I was growing up and I’m looking forward to playing such an interesting character and one so different from previous roles I’ve played.”

Gavin Blyth, Emmerdale series producer, says: "I’m delighted to be welcoming James to the cast as a key component in the new direction the show will be taking.

"James is an extremely talented actor and will bring a real presence to the role of Ryan.”

  2. So in the end... And this is what I hate about British and Australian soap operas... Who the hell is creating the storylines? In this case, I'm guessing Bryan Kirkwood, of course? This is a mess, but strangely it works.

Whatever the formula it works for them in strides because people were excited and happy about the stuff Bryan was doing. Its all they were talking about and it started with Justin and Becca which was a huge risk in a teacher falling for her student and them having an affair as well as a child later to come out. .

Me personally think the biggest risk he took was with JP and Craig because that came out left field for Craig. After seeing the recaps I would have never thought he was gay. It had great story telling, acting and was not pushed to the back they should us how two men can fall inlove and have scenes like that. They were not ashame of what they telling.

  3. Ok well this storyline has come to an end. What an ending. I mean dam why cant American soaps do this and really do this.

Jac is pissed. Part of me understands her being upset espically when she told Myra to fight when Myra was trying to explain why she chose Jac and Carmel to die. I say she did quite well holding it in espically for her when her mother chose her to die and finding out your sister slept with you husband and had his kid which i think I missed.

Dom speech to dead Tina wow didnt think he had it in him but very good.

Ross is lost espically what he said to Tina after she left max and got kidnapped by Niall. That is going to haunt him for a minuate.

My baby left, final episode of JP but I am happy he finally got to say goodbye to everyone this time and they truely understood why he could not stay.

These episode for me are up there with the reveal at the dog of JP and Craig. Another classic ending to a very important storyline but will wrap into another storyline because Myra you will have some groveling to do when it comes to Jac and I dont believe for a minuate Carmel is quite over with it.

  4. Oh my gawd this week has been a roller coaster. I finally caught up with Niall revenge and boy amazing acting from all around. I mean seriously Barry was on point. Today was absolutely fantastic and shocking who dies.

Its a shame Bryan is going maybe he should come to US and produce some shows. Hollyoaks lost is someone else gain because majority of his storylines that he has done in the last 3 years have been amazing.

  5. OMG!!!! YAY!!!! We got our Sunset Ending!!! God, the John Paul and Craig storyline was just amazing to watch, it's been an amazing ride over the past 2 and half years watching the storyline that single-handedly revived Hollyoaks. God, their reunion at the train station was such a good moment. I guess if some didn't see the storyline from the beginning to end, they won't feel the same way about it that we do.

I LOVED how they remembered the John Paul, Craig, Hannah, and Sarah dynamic and what close friends they all were. I'm glad that Sarah and Craig finally have closure and that Sarah was finally able to forgive Craig.

I'll post more on the entire week on Friday or Saturday, but god, the Sunset Ending was all I could've asked for and more.

I loved the moment where they finally see each other at the train station and John Paul says to Craig, "I keep wondering what if you hadn't walked into class that day." God, I love how they mentioned their meeting and the little injection of history here and there.

I also loved when John Paul jokingly said, "Why do you keep finding ourselves in situations like this?"

John Paul and Craig was a true love story. It didn't matter that they're gay, the storyline was treated like how any straight romance would've been treated. The forbiddeness of it, the passion, the love between these two characters, and how it impacted those around them made for some of the best soap opera I've ever seen. It's truly been an amazing experience to watch this. Bryan Kirkwood is the man.

Oh, and I'm glad that Niall's plan to poison John Paul backfired on his ass, served him right!

I am still on a high and guess what Alvin that clip was the # 1 viewed clip yesturday. I was smiling the whole time. The songs were perfect and well I am glad we got what we got. You are right it was a kick ass storyline that if anyone gets the chance to watch on Nicks paige should take the opportunity to do so.

  6. I got my Sunset ending. It was an amazing ending to a beautiful story. I loved every moment today. Hollyoaks took a chance with this storyline and hit pay dirt with it. A job well done by James, Guy and Brain for taking a chance and making it a huge sucess. One of the best storylines Hollyoaks has done and what is even better they gave the audience an ending that every Mcdean fan would love.

  7. I am a little upset with Malachy because he did not tell Mercedes yet. I mean he is suppose to love this woman but sleeps with her with out knowing.

I love the confritation between Kris and Malachy. I will say Kris is not punk at all. He goes with the best of them.

I may be in the few but I think I may actually like Hannah and Elliot because she accepts him and likes being around him. She is not ashame as it seems witih Sarah. I think Sarah likes to be used and abused because when she gets a good guy she tends to treat them like crap.

Where has Chris Fountain been lately. Is he getting a storyline or are they waiting until James leaves?

  8. Wow James Sutton is on point today. I loved it. I see the guilt he is having because JP wants Craig but now that Keiron is gone and because of him so he thinks its going to eat at him.

Myra needs to shut the hell up because honey you are holding a major secret too.

Al, I like Mercedes and Malachy but it will be interesting to see how that plays out if they are going in that direction but even more what she does with his brother.

I see the contrast AL and its great. I think Craig has grown up alot because he is not asham of JP now and he knows what he truely wants.

JP/Craig and Max death storylines have been on fire and the best so far but when Naill relationship with the Mcqueens comes out that is going to rock as well.

  9. I just finished watching today episode and it was a great episode.

Barry and Jake who play Niall and Kieron were on point and so creepy that it was amazing.

JP and Craig was majical. I loved that its Craig going after JP now and going after what he wants. I love the speech of what its been like to not have JP in his life and it sucks for him. This is so different from the Craig that left for Dublin a year ago. I love that he is not waiting around. He is confident and knows its JP he wants.

I loved that we were seeing JP cracking and he cant control himself around Craig and boy talk about deniel.

I agree Al its been a very good week of Hollyoaks. Everything as been on point. I am loving this week truely even with the graphic murder of Keiron.

  10. Last Friday and Monday's episodes were AMAZING! Wow, Newt is going crazy by blaming himself for Jack's death, and it's nice to see sympathetic side of Darren, even if he's concealing a lie. This whole thing is really screwing him up, and it's nice to feel for him, since he's an otherwise unsympathetic character.

The family drama invovled in all of this is outstanding, and Ashley Taylor Dawson (Darren) is really acting his ass off, this is probably the best acting I've ever seen him do.

When is Craig's return, Anita? It's just weird that they haven't mentioned him, as he's Frankie's son, Steph's brother, and was close to Jack and Darren.

He suppose to be back end of August beginning September. I cant wait. From what James Sutton states its a lot of drama coming and he is really proud of it. Guy Burnet who play JP is doing a back stage video tomarrow so hopely we get some spolier. He will be filming with Steph, JP and Naill.

I just saw the baby shower by the Mcqueens talk about classic. I was laughing so much. They truely are a crazy family. I felt so bad for the girl who had the baby and BAM Ross walks in to get Mercedes their divorce papers. It was classic.

I feel for Newt as well and he is coming into his own as well. Boy Jack and Darren are going to see hell when this scam comes out. Frankie is going to kill them.

  11. From Digital Spy

Hollyoaks' gay priest Father Kieron Hobbs is to bow out of the show in September.

The character - played by 26-year-old Jake Hendriks - will meet an untimely demise when he is involved in a plot riddled with twists and turns, culminating in his departure from the village.

Speaking of his time with the Channel 4 soap, he said: "It's been an honour to play such an interesting and unusual character and I hope that I've done Father Kieron justice!

"It's been great being part of the family at Hollyoaks and I'd like to thank everyone for making my time here so enjoyable."

Producer Bryan Kirkwood commented: "In a short space of time Jake has won legions of fans for his role as Father Kieron Hobbs."

He added: "It's been a complex role but Jake has proved himself to be an outstanding actor and I hope viewers enjoy the climax to his story."

Hendriks first appeared in Hollyoaks at the beginning of the year and soon became embroiled in a surprising romance with John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) following the departure of Craig Dean (Guy Burnet).

He filmed his final scenes on Tuesday and celebrated his time with the show at the Alma de Cuba bar in Liverpool last night with various members of the cast and crew, along with some of his closest friends.

  12. I liked the Frankie and Steph scenes today, they were sweet.

I will be really pissed if they decide to pair Steph and Niall in the future. I also can't wait for Niall to be exposed in a few months...

I thought the scenes were good too. I like this Stephanie she has grown up alot compared to the bubble head I remember.

Jack is now becoming an idiot. He is doing to Frankie what her first husband did, right and let me guess Darrin is involved in this scheme. How did this crap start anyway? Does he owe somone big or he doesnt know how to handle his money?

From a interview they did with the guy who played Max it was implied that was the direction they are going.

  13. Tom's mother and father are death, they died in car accident a few years ago. In her will, Tom's mother Helen stated that Tom's half sister (Max's step-sister), Mandy, would be his legal guardian. However, Mandy couldn't deal with taking care of Tom, so she gave him to Max who raised him.

Tom and Mandy's mother is Helen, Max is Helen's step-son through her marriage with Gordon Cunningham.

Max's biological sister is Cindy (the bitchy brunette one).

Clare isn't coming back, though Gemma Bissix has recently said she's leaving EastEnders. There's no plans to bring her back to Hollyoaks, and I really don't see what she'd be without Max anyway.

Thanks for the explanation. Did you see the new picks of Ste falling onto the ground with Amy, her sister, her dad, Stephanie and Father Keirin yet? If not you want me to post them.

"I am getting my Sunset Ending!!!!!!"

  14. What ever happened to Max and Tom mom. And who is the girl who had custody of Tom per Max request but really did not want Tom.

Can you break down the family tree for me, please?

And why is Claire coming back, to give Stephanie greif or something.

  15. Selected scenes from Max's funeral yesterday. The entire episode isn't on youtube yet, but I'll post it when it's there.

Tom and OB decided not to attend because it was too much for them. Steph read OB's eulogy and then in her own way said goodbye to Max with a song. Very heartbreaking scenes. :(

I wish today's episode was posted for you all to see, but I'll post that when it's up.

    type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Thanks for sharing, great acting and story telling what more can you ask for. Just that little bit you showed had me in tears. I cant wait until the whole show is on tv.
