Obviously, we don't know what's gone on behind the scenes, but I hope that what actually took this week to get sorted was a settlement with AA. I think that's why it took so long to announce his exit and why he was allowed to publish a lengthy, personally slanted, statement, and why the statement from Corday was so short, bland, and inconsequential.

If AA does sue, I think he'll have a terribly expensive uphill climb. The entire cast will testify against him, ex-cast members will testify against him, and there may be crew who would testify against him as well. On a balance of probabilities, which is the legal test in a civil lawsuit, I don't see how he'd succeed.

I am sure some fans would like to say some things too lol

@Paul RavenI think what we have seen goes well beyond just an abrasive personality or a difficult boss. The sheer number of actors that signed the letter tells me that this was way more than that. Those types of things just do not happen often. The actions taken after the investigation and Corday’s handling of it by the cast kind of prove the seriousness of the allegations. What those women came forward with is more than a difficult boss.

To me what we have here is the classic case of no one (Corday) managing issues before they become this systemic and problematic. If Alarr’s behavior had been addressed much earlier (as Farrah Faith claimed, he was gross all the way back to her first love scene), then maybe his talents would have prevailed and his behavior towards women could have been corrected in the working environment. Although personally I think disrespecting women in this way, or being racist or homophobic at any time with colleagues is worth termination. But I get HR departments try to mitigate firing immediately.

Now the larger issue as pointed out by Alarr is worth noting as well- daytime soaps have a terrible track record with hiring people of color and moving them into leadership positions. Or onscreen.

The lack of people of color has always been a problem for soaps but that’s another conversation. The problem is the fact he tried to use his race as if it was the real reason he was let go instead of what was the obvious.

From what I have seen (external to what is already public), I do not doubt he will sue. Won't elaborate but it's ironic he fired the DAYS PR team considering he himself has retained a consulting firm focused on communications counsel and crisis management.

No crime was alleged nor committed in the legal sense, as no charges were brought against him. When he sues, it'll be civil.

That’s what I figured but I was thinking about the 25 cast members being revealed and it’s been a while since I brushed up on law but I was feeling like since this will probably only be a civil lawsuit matter I doubt the cast members would be revealed like if it was a criminal trial you know.

If it goes to court then the people who are now anonymous may be made public. A part of me wants a settlement to avoid that, but I don’t want Alarr to win.

Yes, I thought about that but then I thought that 25+ people came out of anonymity to sign that cast petition. I think the fan reaction was so strong that they were emboldened to sign their John Hancocks. And I salute them for it.

I don’t think it will go to court well maybe civil but as mad as Alarr wants to pretend to be he would have to realized he really has more to lose than Corday. All of this is because of HIS actions. Yes Corday went along with it but Corday has more sense and more money to fight more than Alarr can. From the articles and posts, everyone is complaining about him. As for the 25 cast members that sign the petition, they wouldn’t have to worry about being made public unless someone leaked their names or they said so themselves.

So, Alarr will sue Corday Inc.

He will have his own account & he till try to get cronies to testify for him. No idea if they will vanish or stick.

Corday inc. will have the 2-month report which interviewed 30+ people. The SAGAFTRA reports from this week. Testimony they might get from cast or crew. Examples of fan reaction online.

Surely with that Corday Inc. would fight instead of settle.

Anyway, that's how I hope it would stack up.

I have one question. I'm not sure where the 2 million figure came from. Seems so high. Was that confirmed?

Personally I don’t think it will stick. If anything I am sure he making all this noise because he didn’t think he would be fired. Looking at his resume, he has only been working in soaps and with it only being 4 soaps left he is not looking good to go knock on the other 3 soaps doors asking for a job. Knowing Corday tried to keep all this under the rug until Deadline and days fans was dead on his neck, he will try to settle this quietly too.

His statement is clearly looking for a fight, IMO. And full of blaming everyone else. But it's also yet another sad indictment of the state of the genre - is Alarr of all people truly the first and only Black EP or co-EP in soaps (not counting stuff like Ishmael Reed's experimental avant-garde soap Personal Problems from over 40 years ago which almost no one has seen)? GH has hired and possibly fired a handful of new Black writers in recent years, too.

Here, I take Albert Alarr's statement from Deadline.com & in italics I give my interpretation of what is really being said.

It is hard to overstate how heartbreaking I find this situation.

I am a big ole crybaby upset because I've lost my 2 million dollar job.

These allegations were already examined in a detailed and entirely independent investigation that lasted for two months. Dozens of individuals cooperated and every claim was thoroughly looked into. At the end of that process, the decision was made that I should continue in my role as Co-Executive Producer.

You cannot imagine how incredibly lucky I was to get off scot free!

Now, with no new facts presented, the studios have reversed course and caved to a cynical pressure campaign to force me out of my job.

    Waaah, crying.

It’s important to set the record straight.

I've got to try to sell you on a different version of events.

Every day, I worked with hundreds of people, the overwhelming majority of whom would disagree with recent mischaracterizations of me.

I've got buddies who have been protecting me from paying for my actions for years & years.

I have been in this industry for decades, and not a single complaint has ever been made against me until now.

I was so successful at intimidating people & firing people that I had everyone scared into silence. Dammit now that is over.

Many of the claims recently referenced in the media are simply false.

I have lied about all of this successfully for years. I can't believe it stopped working.

Others have been taken so out of context or are so twisted that they are unrecognizable from the truth.

Of course my version of what is truth is unrecognizable!

To be clear, this whole situation stems from the animus of just two individuals.

There were just a few people that weren't intimidated by me, dadgummit.

Those individuals, at a time of industry-wide cutbacks and economic uncertainty, have been relentlessly angling for greater pay and increased influence on the show, and, it appears, believed that their best strategy to get it was to play on vile stereotypes in order to bring down a Black man in a position of power.

Now I will try to play the race card.

I will always be proud of being the only Black director/producer in daytime soap operas. And, while I am devastated by the manner of my departure, I will always treasure my years at Days of Our Lives and wish the wildly talented cast and crew the very best for the future.

To conclude I bring you my best bullshit.

    Albert Alarr

As a black person, I am SUPER offended by his statement. In no way shape or form is race needed or important to this situation. Since he wants to point out he is the only black director or EP in soaps, perhaps he should have taken the opportunity more seriously and left his misogynistic narcissist ways at the door and instead he wouldn’t be another unemployed black man.

Let’s Go!!!! I hope one of the first things Janet does is help bring in some help for the cast and crews mental health. Dealing with abuse and toxicity like this can be very devastating to one’s mental health. Just help bring back some trust to the studio and reach out to past cast members who left or were fired because of that jerk. Unfortunately we the fans have to wait until all of the episodes and SLs Alarr influenced plays out until Janet’s influence comes through. But if the cast and crew can work hard together with Janet and bright back the light and freshness to the show it will be well worth the wait.

The general shoulder shrugging this story has gotten from Corday, SAG/AFTRA and the industry as a whole is really disgusting. I figured with this production model the show had to be pretty nasty BTS but this is insane. The fact Alarr has been able to get away with this crap for years even post Me Too era is ridiculous. Ken, Sony and NBC Universal should be ashamed of themselves, SOD as well for their lack of coverage. Very proud of Ari Zurker and the entire cast and crew that have spoken out and hope they not only fire him but reroute the hr, pr and production issues.

When deadline dropped their initial article, I thought this was only going on the last 5-6 yrs. But once Farah came out and told her story which dates back to the early 00s and I believe Alarr started as a director for the show. The fact that Corday, Sony and NBC Universal knew this man had been doing this the entire time and instead of getting rid of him they kept promoting him is disgusting. I feel like I am watching a clock countdown and when it hits 0:00 something is going to happen but idk what. Are they going to fire Alarr or idk where the show is in their two year renewal but maybe Peacock might wait until they are almost to 2024 or a month into 2024 and call the show a waste with all the BTS drama and cut it. A renewal of two years isn’t promised when drama and bleeding money is involved.

Days was hard to watch due to the awful writing and it is impossible now do to what was going on behind the scenes. It is really hard to watch and support a show with such a horrible human being running the show.

I have been wondering the same thing for the past couple days.

  9. While I am not surprised this behavior is going on because let’s be honest this is Hollywood, I am surprised that it has been tolerated so long. I have only been watching the show for the last 20 years however I am sure taking a poll from the fan base as a whole we could all mention a moment when we thought the show was horrible or changes need to be made. That being said after reading the article and realizing the time frame, these last 5-6 makes a lot more sense has to why this show has just went left and seems to be heading off the cliff at full speed. In the beginning I like a lot of people blamed everything on Ron and his writing and while he is not completely innocent in this, it is obvious this shows slow demise is based on the behavior on Alarr and Corday for that matter. The fact that this behavior is tolerated and Corday has been turning a blind eye to this is heartbreaking. After reading the section with the actress and the love scene, it makes me wonder about a lot of things. Camila is on her 3rd exit in 5 years I believe and it  seems like it might be due to Alarr’s behavior and she has been trying to find a different route to take but ending up coming back. Does she come back because maybe this Alarr pulls his weight and blocks her from getting other roles and she has no choice but to come back because she has to make a living?! The love scene with the actress mentioned in the article, the bravery of her to continue going and not leave the show in the dust and go public why she left is amazing to me. KA exit is reading more like Alarr behavior vs her wanted to do other things. If Corday wanted to show how much this show really means to him, he needs to clean house now and fire Alarr and all his little minions.

Another one to join the Kate Roberts welcome wagon?

When I say I am REALLY hoping you’re wrong. But I have seen an upcoming picture of them and I hope it’s as innocent as it looks. Idk a part of me is soooooooo tired of days writing Kate like she is only good for one thing yet I really don’t want her with Roman either.

  11. 4 hours ago, te. said:

Is this a prelude to someone else jumping on Kate's "Welcome back to Salem" bandwagon?

    Spoiler

I doubt that lol.  I wouldn’t be surprised if he is brainwashed and Megan programmed him to protect her hints why he was outside the door.

I can’t believe I am saying this but I enjoyed today! Man oh man have I missed Bo’s face and I am not even a big fan of his lol.

If there is one person who will literally fight their way out of a situation it’s Kate. I throughly enjoyed Kate and Megan going back and forth. Even the cliche long villain monologue.

Not to talk down on the newer or younger cast but the vets sold this stuff today.

So according to Ron, the heaven/purgatory/hell nonsense was a stalling tactic while Peacock decided whether they were going to do another season of Beyond Salem or incorporate the storyline into the main show.

Such a waste of money. It would have been cheaper and made more sense to write the ladies doing things off camera. Kate and Roman already had their plan written for them. Both take off to go to Switzerland to see Austin and Carrie. I believe Steve and Kayla had an anniversary so have them take a romantic trip. John and Marlena could just stay around Salem and use every now and then when needed. Then one day the ladies are all back in Salem and they get sick the virus is back and then continue the SL and lead into the return of Bo and Hope. Boring I know but way easier to swallow than the great beyond nonsense. It only aired like 6 episodes over a course of two months. 4 were in February alone.

  13. Question. Okay so the storyline is tying beyond Salem 2 and the main show together or does anyone know if there is going to be a beyond Salem 3? I am so confused lol.

I do plan to go ahead and watch BS2. I am liking Megan so far. She is the freshness I have been waiting for. I want some good villain storytelling. The lab situation is giving me back that fun Stefano/Rolf/Bart combo I miss. If Ron and man that’s a big if, can stay normal and not take the silly and overused route with Megan I would love to see her stick around. So far she has the potential to replace some the things that have been missing since Stefano has been gone. Plus it would be cool to watch her leap frog and over the weak Dimeras we have now and control DE and Salem like Stefano did. Well not control but command a presence like him.

None of the cancelled soaps in this century were as BAD as Days is right now. Talking urns? The devil again? The three ladies are not really dead? (Which we all knew). Days is just so ridiculous right now. The move to Peacock has made the show even more dumbed down than on NBC. Maybe Bo & Hope can save this mess.

I never watched Passions but I heard it could go some interesting ways.

yeah todays episode was one of those episodes that makes you wonder who approved this?!

Well, I will differ on this. Again, I thought Bill did a great job & was well used. The first time he was DevilDoug in demonic possession 2.0 was one of the 2 scripts that won them last years' WGA & Writing Emmy. I thought that script was sound, valid, tight, really well-written. So, there's that. FWIW to ya.

It’s not that I didn’t think he would do a good job as the devil. I saw this mentioned on another board and it had me thinking. Granted tomorrow is not promise to anyone. But thinking back to John Aniston and his last scene. Bill is older as well and to think what if this was his last scenes. Not like how I would like to see him play his last scenes. But not too get to dark.

I think just in this case this is not a possession SL right now. This heaven and hell or at least this is how it’s written. So the devil could have been played by an extra. Personally I think it would have been more interesting and added something unexpected to todays scenes.

  16. 21 minutes ago, Soapsuds said:

    It's ridiculous!

It went on and on the first time and it was poorly written. And once again here we are again.

I watched the first dialogue and then I was done. I just didn’t like seeing Bill playing it. I know the show is tight on who is available but nothing said the devil had to be played by a days actor or character.

  17. 20 minutes ago, Errol said:

I should point out the origin of a lot of these websites is from India.

The episodes currently airing were taped just before, during or slightly after the move to Peacock news came out. The official Peacock episodes are those that were written specifically with Peacock as the show’s official American home. These episodes are not that. They are still episodes written for NBC but airing on Peacock.

Thanks for the info. I had a feeling it was in the area of timing.

  18. Friday and today’s beyond salem/heaven/devil/whatever this SL is called scenes could have been combined. All the back and forth over selling souls and speaking to the manager dialogue was USELESS!!! At this point, I am hoping these ladies are in medically induced comas and having the same dream and their husbands are really out looking for a final permanent solution to help them and Rex is monitoring the ladies. Then it can tie into them coming across Hope and Bo and all the other stuff from the promos over the last couple of months. Because this SL is giving me major MELASWEN vibes except with the devil and a pace that the tortoise can beat.

Watching Abigail Klein on this show is sooo weird to me because I know her from Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Making the team and it’s hard to get into her playing Stephanie.

Idk when I grew to dislike Julie but the going on about missing Nick was getting on my last nerve and the great beyond(there’s another name for the SL lol) chewed up the rest of that.

I need some positive and I mean long term positive stuff from this show. Are these still NBC episodes or are they now on Peacock episodes? I want Days to throw up the middle fingers, bust them pens wide open and get away from the same SLs same characters and bring that some fresh material to this show.
