  1. I think the videos off the Like A Prayer album are her strongest as a bunch. The album is also her most critically acclaimed work, and many fans fight over it and Ray of Light as her best album. Ray of Light and Bedtime Story also had very strong videos attached to their singles. Her best and most memorable singles album is definitely the singles off True Blue, though. I think it's the album that produced the most classic and commercially successful singles for her as a bunch.
  2. Like A Prayer and Ray of Light are her most well-regarded albums, and set of videos as well from the singles off those albums. Her recent videos, primarily from 2003 onwards, are regarded as some of her worst. I think she probably stopped caring as music videos don't have the same type of impact as they used to have. Her singles catalog is quite massive and diverse, I guess it would depend of which "Madonna era" is your favourite.
  3. That video is regarded as one of her worst. She was obsessed with Memoirs of a Geisha at the time. I think the song is OK, but there were some better club mixes of it.
  4. Bad Girl is one of her best video moments. It was also directed by David Fincher (who directed Express Yourself, Oh Father, and Vogue). That song was not radio friendly or commercial (like most of the Erotica album), but I think it was another case where she knew it wasn't going to perform well commercially, but she had a great video concept for it.
  5. She was filming Evita at the time that video was shot, so that's possibly why it reflected a more retro look. Most of that video was done on a London soundstage. I've never been a huge Take A Bow fan, but that video is exquisitely beautiful.
  6. MTV didn't want to air the video because of that scene originally, but they later relented. Madonna said the song was mainly about her troubled childhood relationship with her father, and then later with men in general in her life. I think it's also about feeling alone and introverted as a child.
  7. Her mother actually. I love that video: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnQC0cjYtvU?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnQC0cjYtvU?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnQC0cjYtvU?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
  8. I've noticed a lot of Madonna's ballads aren't even about love or breaking up with someone. Live To Tell, Oh Father, This Used To Be My Playground, and What It Feels Like For A Girl are all about different personal issues. The David Fincher directed video for Oh Father is one of her greatest moments. That song is so underrated amongst her singles catalog, and was a very daring and un-commercial single choice, and happened to be the single that broke her record string of top 10 hits. I'm glad she released it though.
  9. Ellie at Walford Web confirmed that Glenda will be off the show for a while, but she's coming back and isn't gone permanently. So, I'm still guessing she'll be back just before Ronnie's wedding to Jack. Also, Kat and Alfie will most likely be returning in the final week of September or first week of October. I bet BBC One will release a trailer soon to promote Kat and Alfie's return. I can't wait to see my tart with a heart.
  10. So, will they bring in a new family to take over Home Farm? Maybe they'll bring Kim Tate back, even though she really doesn't have any strong ties to many on the canvas now.
  11. The thing with Minty is that though he's always carried a torch for Sam, she's always been repulsed at the idea of being with him. He's nothing but a support system for her, one that she could easily use to get her way. Though, regardless if its his or not, I can see Minty wanting to raise it with her to just be there. Though, if it's Ricky or Jack's, it would probably give them more of a way to bring Sam back occasionally for short stints, since simply being Phil's little sister isn't enough.
  12. If that baby is Ricky's, it will have some screwed up family with the Mitchell's, with Janine as an aunt, and with Bianca as a step-mum.
  13. Lyndon is changing his tune a bit. I remember interviews with him just a few month ago where he said he hoped to be on the show for a long time and that the departures wouldn't change that.
  14. Lyndon Ogbourne (Nathan) is leaving Emmerdale. I guess they can't wait to get rid of this family.... http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s12/emmerdale/news/a265457/lyndon-ogbourne-to-leave-emmerdale.html
  15. Sam/Bianca/Ricky/Ronnie/Jack spoiler for Thursday, September 2: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/scoop/a264954/sophie-reveal-edale-clash-enders-baby-shock.html I kind of hope Sam's baby is a Ricky's, mainly because he's helping Bianca raise two children that aren't even his, and it sounds like Bianca will be supportive if Sam's baby does turn out to be Ricky's. I hope it's not Jack's, mainly because it would be really nasty for Ronnie to stay with someone who knocked up both her sister and cousin...
  16. Kind of sad we won't get one last Sharon and Peggy bitchfest. No one ever got under Peggy's skin better than Sharon. Barbara and Letitia had the best chemistry together. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iyg_UJfDJE?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iyg_UJfDJE?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iyg_UJfDJE?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLuXHXf_LDM?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLuXHXf_LDM?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLuXHXf_LDM?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3W3OVTgSsgg?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3W3OVTgSsgg?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3W3OVTgSsgg?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vbc43pExkok?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vbc43pExkok?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vbc43pExkok?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zP5fgTHytp4?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zP5fgTHytp4?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zP5fgTHytp4?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
  17. I didn't really see any strong similarities to Daran's work on Corrie in Friday's episode. I thought it was a solid script overall, though. The only similarity I can see in his work is that he likes to have the character's mention relevant past history, like Peggy mentioning Simon and David to Pat when she tried to stop Peggy from visiting Phil, and then again when Phil recounted some of their family history in the scenes with Peggy.
  18. Nothing's really been confirmed about Glenda's status with the show, I think she'll just be on a resting period and they'll bring her back in a few weeks.
  19. For Carol fans, 1:32 in or so until the remainder of the clip.... <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUMuk1X23YU?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUMuk1X23YU?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUMuk1X23YU?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
  20. Possibly, since it was a #1 Adult Contemporary hit, and it wasn't a love song or a song about breaking up. The show is essentially about childhood scars and mistrust. The production also isn't typical for most of the ballads that were popular in the late 80's and early 90's. Also, probably because Madonna was so well known for her dance music roots and is mostly a force in dance-pop music that is surprised many that she could release a ballad as dark as that (though, her first ballad release Crazy For You, was also a #1 hit). She actually has some great ballads that don't quite get the attention as her dance-pop stuff, though she really hasn't released a traditional ballad in years, since The Power of Goodbye in 1998. What It Feel Like For a Girl was a ballad, but a dance remix was the version pushed to radio and in the video edit. I guess you could count Nothing Fails too, though that didn't generate much attention. Madonna's longtime collaborator Patrick Leonard actually wrote the music to the song a while before Madonna heard it and wrote lyrics with Leonard for it. Here's Patrick Leonard playing the song on piano: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTrUvxpmfO8?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTrUvxpmfO8?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTrUvxpmfO8?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

  22. Oh, here's the section of the BBC EastEnders site dedicated just to Peggy. http://www.bbc.co.uk/eastenders/peggy/
