GRANT’S HOUSE

Grant answers the door, and gets an unexpected visitor.

Grant: Toni Burrell.

Toni: May I come in?

Grant: Sure.

Toni: I’m gonna get right to the point. I have to ask you some questions about Dr. Taylor’s murder.

Grant: Ask away I…I will do anything I need to do to bring the killer to justice.

Toni: Really Grant?

Grant: Yes.

Toni: Well you can start by telling me why you were depositing large amounts of money in Dr. Taylor’s bank account.

HUDSONS HOUSE

John is there with Gregory.

Greg: Any leads on mom?

John: The police haven’t said anything. I haven’t been able to sleep.

Greg: Well we need to light a fire under their asses and get them looking for her.

John: They’re doing all they can I’m sure.

Greg: Well it’s not enough dad. Whoever’s got mom could be doing God knows what to her.

John: Don’t you think I know that Gregory? I think about that all the time! Whoever killed Dr. Taylor has got her. Why?

Someone knocks on the door, and John answers it…it’s Jack Snyder.

John: May I help you?

Jack (holding up his badge): I’m Jack Snyder, Chief of Detectives at the Bay City PD. I need to ask a few questions about Dr. Taylor’s murder.

Greg (wheeling himself to the door): What? My dad didn’t kill anyone! You need to be looking for my mother!

Sharlene wakes up, and she’s lying on a bed. She sees a ceiling fan…and a man standing over her with a gun.

Sharlene: Where the hell am I? Oh my God. Evan?

Evan: Hello Aunt Sharlene. Welcome to St. Croix.

GRANT’S HOUSE

Grant: What’s wrong with investing?

Toni: We took a lot at a month’s worth of surveillance footage. He didn’t have that many patients, so it’s a wonder how he stayed in business. What did he have on you Grant?

Grant: Do you think it’s inappropriate for you come to my home accusing me of something.

Toni: I haven’t accused you of anything. I simply asked a question. Was Dr. Taylor blackmailing you or something?

Grant: Are you trying to establish motive Lieutenant? Dr. Taylor was a college friend of mine, and I was simply helping him out.

Toni: If I was a millionaire I still wouldn’t buy that.

Grant: You can choose to purchase anything, but I did not kill Benjamin Taylor.

Toni: Can you tell me where you were at the time of his murder?

Grant: You don’t know? I was announcing my candidacy for Mayor of Bay City.

Toni: It doesn’t mean you couldn’t have hired someone.

Grant: If you want to fish, go to the lake, but don’t do it in my house. I had nothing with Dr. Taylor’s death.

John: Gregory, why don’t you go in the kitchen?

Greg: You didn’t kill anybody dad! They need to be out there looking for mom!

John: I can handle this. Just go in the kitchen.

Jack (watching Greg go in the kitchen): I know that you’re worried about your wife’s whereabouts. I want you to know that we’re working on finding her.

John: I think my son’s right. Have you got any leads?

Jack: No. Nothing. That’s why I’m here.

John: Wait a second…you think I had something to do with this? I would NEVER do that to my wife!

Jack: What about Dr. Taylor? She was seeing him as his patient, and the surveillance footage shows you going in and out of his office a couple of times, and you were NOT his patient.

John: I had no reason to kill Dr. Taylor.

Jack: Why were you going in and out of his office? Did it have something to do with Sharlene?

John: He was treating her, and I didn’t want her to remember.

Jack: Remember what?

John: Grant was shot a few years ago, and Joe Carlino was murdered, and I didn’t want her ever to remember.

Jack: She knows who the shooter is?

John: It was buried in her subconscious, and I pleaded with Dr. Taylor to make sure she doesn’t remember.

Jack: Why would you even want that?

John: Because it’s probably the reason why she’s missing, and the reason Dr. Taylor is dead. You’re barking up the wrong tree. I didn’t kill Dr. Taylor, and whoever’s responsible for his death, may also have my wife.

ST CROIX

Sharlene: Why did you bring me here?

Evan: You know why.

Sharlene: No I don’t!

Evan (looking into her eyes): Look closer.

Sharlene: Oh my God. It’s you!

Evan: That’s right. It’s me.

Sharlene: You killed Joe Carlino. Why? He was a decent man. Why did you kill him?

Evan: He was getting too close. He knew about the scheme that I was a part of.

Sharlene: A scheme?

Evan: Yes. I shot Grant so he can win more votes, and Joe was about to uncover the whole scheme, that’s why I had to get rid of him. I had to carry this plan out.

Sharlene: What plan? What are you talking about?

Evan: I’m finishing what I started years ago…when I first came to Bay City.

Sharlene: Revenge?

Evan: That’s it! My mother should not have died, and everyone who turned on her is going to pay. Don’t you want justice for your sister?

Sharlene: She was plotting to kill Mac Cory. What does Grant have to do with this anyway? He had nothing with Janice’s death.

Evan: My plan was going to cost me, and he’s got money.

Sharlene: Whatever it is you’re planning you’ve got to stop it before someone else gets hurt. If you let me go, I can help you.

Evan (taking out a pair of handcuffs): No can do Auntie. I’m GOING to finish what I started, and you, Dr. Taylor, Joe Carlino are NOT going to stop me.

Sharlene: Dr. Taylor? You killed my therapist, too?

Evan orders Sharlene to handcuff herself to the bedpost, and takes out a needle.

Evan: I did what had to be done.

Evan injects Sharlene with a strong sedative. Sharlene struggles, but quickly falls unconscious.
