Many casting changes are coming to There's Always Tomorrow. The first two casualties in a cast shakeup for the series are Rachel Melvin and Kelli Goss. The two actresses are original cast members of the almost year old soap opera and play Amy Whitmore and Mimi Andrews-Whitmore respectfully. The show announced today that this would be the last season the two actresses would appear in and that there characters would exit after their current storyline wraps.

When asked about the double exits, the show released this statement:

We have been honored to have Rachel and Kelli apart of our cast. Their love and light for the soap opera genre and this show shine through each and everyday they are on set. We love the characters of Amy and Mimi. In the coming months, the couple will be tested to their breaking point. But, readers will get to see how a couples bond is unbreakable. Furthermore, don't expect Amy and Mimi to be gone forever. After all, 'There's Always Tomorrow'.

Kelli Goss previously starred on CBS' The Young and the Restless. And, Rachel Melvin is best known to television audiences as the former Chelsea Brady on NBC's Days of Our Lives.

Since June of 2018, There’s Always Tomorrow has gained a dedicated fan base of online readers who have followed the trials and tribulations of the fictitious Thorne Hill citizens. Today, we sit down with Creator and Co-Head Writer, Casey Hutchison, to see where the citizens of the fictional Illinois town are headed in the coming months! Hutchison promises that secrets will be revealed, some residents will be firing guns, and so much more!

I = Interviewer

CH = Casey Hutchison

I: Alright, so let's just start at the beginning. Your team is currently 43 episodes in. Additionally, I heard that you have the show mapped out for quite awhile. Talk to me about the story to air process.

CH: So, yes, I do have the show mapped out for the rest of the year and even going into 2020. We have that general idea. My Executive Producer and other Co-Head Writer and I don’t mess around. We are constantly discussing ideas and stories. Our story bible for the show has gotten very thick. We have a story to tell. We have characters to bring to life. We want to make sure it all flows well. The best way for it to flow well is for us to have it mapped out for a very long period.

I: Let’s continue to talk about the show being mapped out so much in advance. You recently revealed that Eileen Davidson is joining the cast as Michael’s sister, Kimberly. What do you have planned out for her?

CH: I don’t want to reveal too much. But, I will tell you that the character of Kimberly is one of my favorites in the history of all the characters I’ve created.

I: Wow! That says a lot!

CH: As it should. Kimberly is powerful. She’s sexy. She’s everything that Eileen Davidson truly is. That’s why I think Eileen makes such a great actress for this role. Story wise, Kimberly will start cleaning up messes that the Anderson family has caused. She is the unauthorized head of the family. There is also a secret that her brother has that we’ll find out as the months go on. And, Kimberly has to come up with a way to work through the shock that this secret will send out once it’s revealed.

I: That sounds juicy! Speaking of Michael, I do want to touch on what he’s going through right now. Everyone has learned about the kiss between Cynthia and Carter. And, it has impacted things majorly. Michael even fired Cynthia as CEO and Carter as the head of PR at Anderson Manufacturing. And, there’s talk of a Cynthia/Michael divorce. What’s going on here?

CH: You know, when I set out to tell this story, I knew I wanted to dive into it having Michael think this was karma for his affair with Judith all those years ago. And, he’s addresed that he understands how Stuart feels now. With that being said, Cynthia is also hurt as well. She knows that their issues go way beyond that kiss she shared with Carter. There’s Lindsay, there’s Carter being in town anyway, etc. And, she’s hurt that Michael might want to throw the marriage away because of just that one kiss. However, they’ve been through more than that together. She doesn’t want to throw it all away on some kiss.

I: Yet, in the last episode (EP. 43, All The Lonely People), Cynthia admitted to Carter that she had feelings for him still. And, they ended up having sex.

CH: Yes. And, that was born out of Cynthia being confused about who she wants to be with. We want to show our readers that love is complicated. Love is hard. Love is more than a four-letter-word. Cynthia has feelings for two men right now. With that being said, throughout the Spring and Summer, readers will see us dive into Cynthia’s mind a little more and really pick apart her feelings for these men.

I: So, who’s gonna win her heart?

CH: (laughs) Me telling you would take away all the fun!

I: Let’s continue to talk about the Anderson family. I want to touch on Cynthia’s enemy, Michael’s daughter, Carter’s ex-girlfriend, Lindsay. What’s going to happen to Lindsay in the coming months?

CH: Lindsay has a big story coming up. I will say that Julie Marie Berman is going to be on a lot! She’s already shot a whole batch of episodes. Storywise, we’ll see Lindsay fight her love for Carter as well. She’s a little more willing to get over the kiss shocker than her father. We’ll also see Lindsay take over her business role again at The Grape Escape. She’ll be in the office a lot while the character of Thomas is away from the show for a bit.

I: Let’s talk about these headaches she’s been having. They’ve been going on for a while now. When will we learn what’s going on with the Anderson heiress?

CH: We’ve still got a bit longer to milk that story. Those headaches lead to something interesting. Mike (Larry, EP/Co-HW) and I have been taking our time plotting out this story for her. The story stemming from those headaches carries Lindsay’s story through the rest of the year. And, it’ll have you on the edge of your seat!

I: Awesome! What about Lindsay’s brother? I know the show put out a casting call for a new Thomas? Have you guys found him yet?

CH: Yes. Mike and I have landed on a new Thomas. He’ll be debuting in the Summer. I can’t wait for you guys to see who we picked. We plan to keep it a secret for just a bit. But, trust me, it’s a great actor. A two-time Daytime Emmy nominated actor, I should say.

I: I’m really liking the stories coming up for the Andersons. Now, let’s turn to their rival family, the Whitmores. First up, Judith and Stuart. They shared this romantic moment. Are the two getting back together?

CH: Like the case with Cynthia, love will be a complicated course for Judith and Stuart. There is so much to unpack there. They’ve been together for over 30 years. And, in those 30 plus years, they’ve been through so much. The murder, the affair, adopting Philip, etc. That love will always be there. But, they won’t come back together so easily. The Whitmores are going to be put through hell over the course of what’s left in 2019.

I: I want to touch on Philip’s true parentage and dive into Ava and Keith themselves. That story has just begun. And, it was such a bombshell to find out Ava and Keith were his real parents! Did you guys plot it that way from day one?

CH: Yes. I even had that story plotted before Mike came on the show. That has been a tale I’ve wanted to tell for quite some time. It instantly adds a new layer to the story of Keith and Ava. We have this very hard story to tell about spousal abuse with Keith and Ava. I’ve literally cried writing their scenes. And, now, we add the Philip parentage story on. There is a lot there. And, it won’t be unpacked quickly. We want to take the time with this story. And, we hope readers will too.

I: Wow! I can’t wait to see it all unfold! Let’s go ahead and talk about the Whitmore kids. What’s headed on the horizon for Veronica/Amy/Mimi? Does Veronica want Mimi back?

CH: She does. I won’t lie to you. I think that’s obvious.

I: It seems Amy is willing to do battle.

CH: She is. Amy is not playing the game here. Neither is Mimi. Mimi flat out told Veronica not to talk about their past. Then, the flowers came. Now, they’re done being nice.

I: We know that Tonya Lee Williams (ex-Olivia; The Young and the Restless) has joined the cast in the recurring role of Veronica’s mother, Doreen. Will she play a factor in this triangle?

CH: Doreen is definitely a wild card in this whole triangle. She is without-a-doubt protecting her daughter. She is there to help her daughter win. But, she also has her own motives, which makes her even more interesting; and adds a layer to the triangle.

I: Will this impact Amy and Mimi’s baby adventure?

CH: I won’t give too much away. Just know that the baby story will be a huge factor in the direction of the triangle. It really takes it to new heights.

I: Now, let’s turn our attention to Philip. He got a call from Vargas. He knows just about everything now. What’s going to happen there? Will he discover the truth along with Jennifer, Joshua, and Andrea?

CH: The truth is coming out soon. I know that we’ve had our readers going for quite awhile. (laughs) Since the series began. But, the payoff is so worth it! Jennifer, Philip, Joshua, and Andrea are so close! Closer than they even know! That’s all thanks to Vargas making that call to Philip. But, Philip must remember that Vargas sometimes looks out for himself.

I: Interesting. Let’s talk about the Jackson family. Jennifer and Philip are engaged. Joshua and Andrea are getting closer to having their baby. Where’s this family going aside from the murder story?

CH: From day one, the most important aspect of the show has been to balance the heavy stuff with the light stuff. After this murder story gets to a wrapping up point, Jennifer and Philip will get married. That is a promise we are making to our viewers. The wedding will be larger-than-life. In fact, we’re going to Greece!

I: You guys are really going on location to Greece?

CH: Yes, we are. We begin shooting in Athens in August. Scenes of that shoot will start airing in mid-November. It’s going to be amazing!

I: And, what about Joshua and Andrea?

CH: They are going to have it good for awhile. They are a huge tentpole couple. Every soap needs that romantic couple that just has it easy for a bit. But, like I said, for a bit. There may be some heartache coming up!

I: Is there anything else you can preview for us?

CH: Sure. I’ll say that a huge story climaxes in very early May. It has something to do with Judith and Stuart. Also, Quentin, Stuart’s newly introduced brother, will have a huge story about betrayal. That’ll set off a Cain/Abel dynamic between Quentin and Stuart. Finally, we are in early talks to bring on a leading lady for Quentin. And, the Hudson family gets introduced soon. They will be in heavy story very quickly. And, they’re going to make great rivals to the rich and powerful Andersons! Stay tuned!
