Adam Huss wants the job & they like him but last I heard they are reevaluating what to do, if anything, with the Cassadines!

I think this is a good call. The Cassadines are at their best when there is a clear vision for their reign of terror: the Ice Princess, the return of Luke and Laura, the end game.

Let’s rest this dark side of Port Charles until there is a clear reason for a return. Something so dastardly it unites the WSB alums (Scorpio, Anna, Felicia, Max) and the mob families.

  2. Ryan Carnes knocked this out of the park. All the dramatic close-ups were on him. Even with few lines, his brooding and sadness, was so complex, was such a feeling. He out acted many of the vets. Gosh, I wish they could entice him to come back. I understand that in every other run he was a b-player in storylines. He can really shine.

The way I would bring him back is through a dark secret. Similar to Tony and Helena all those years ago with Stavros, let’s reveal that he has been working with Nikolas this whole time on an experimental treatment to help bring his beloved cousin Lulu back. As a result, he’s been helping Nikolas stay on the lam too. In close quarters, a mutual love for Lulu alludes to a growing attraction.

At the same time, GH comes calling and interviews him for a prestigious job, maybe head of neurosurgery like his dad. He does not have a good excuse not to arrive. When he gets to the board room for the interviews, it’s with Tracy and Ned as the hospital board. The other candidate in the running? Dillon Q, who completed his medical training while away from GH, continuing the long tradition of Q doctors.

The Q’s decide the best thing to do is to have both men do a 6 month trial run so as to not have any signs of impropriety since they want Dillon in the job. The old friends form a friendly rivalry, and Lucas is impressed by Dillon’s natural abilities. They spend more and more time together outside of the hospital. Dillon moves into the Brownstone basement apartment with Lucas after having enough meddling about his personal life between Tracy, Ned, and his nosey cousin Brooklynn.

Dillon notices Lucas sneaking out at night, and realises Lucas is helping Lulu. Dillon reveals himself to Lucas and promises to keep his secret so long as he can help save Lulu too. The long hours and sneaking around, make Dillon realise that he has feelings for Lucas too. They kiss, something Nikolas sees from the shadows. Lucas pushes Dillon away, blaming his grief about Lulu as the driver for the kiss

A jealous Nikolas threatens to out Lucas as helping him with Lulu and keeping him on the Lam.  It turns out Lucas had promised to help Nikolas so long as Nikolas helped him get back Wiley from Michael. With the blackmail on the table, Lucas wants to know why Nikolas is turning on him. Nikolas reveals his feelings for Lucas, and they fall into bed.

The next year is a journey for Dillon as he wrangles for his feelings for Lucas, and coming out to his family. Meanwhile, Lulu wakes up and relies on Dillon since Dante is happy with Sam now.

Lucas is still not free from Nikolas’ blackmail even with Lulu back. He finds himself jealous of the time Dillon is giving Lulu. He is under Nikolas’ thumb both sexually and with his continued escape from authorities. Dillon knows something is wrong, but Lucas pushes him away.

When Nikolas is spotted by Ava, he needs to go on the Lam again and forces Lucas to go with him. Lucas reminds Nikolas of his promise to help him get Wiley, and Nikolas keeps his promise and kidnaps the boy. On the airplane tarmac, Dillon catches up with Lucas when he puts all the pieces together.  Nikolas is in the plane with Wiley, and Dillon begs Lucas to turn on Nikolas and free himself from his control.

What path does Lucas take? How broken is his family with his betrayal of Michael? Is Dillon his true love, or is the dark Prince’s influence too hard to escape.

But for actors no longer on the show it appears they are to be paid the amount they received for the original episode. That could be quite expensive if it was a highly paid star eg Tony Geary.

I did not miss not seeing any Luke flashbacks. I guess the last 20 years of Tony’s run just put such a bad taste in my mouth, where he had carte blanche and consumed Port Charles, that I do not miss Luke Spencer one bit.

I forgot how much chemistry Bobbie and Scotty had. Their flashbacks were full of so much heart.

I'm shocked to admit that I was pleased with today's episode (January 11, 2024), and felt it was an honorable and touching send-off to a beloved actress and character.

And it made me cry. A crusty curmudgeon like me, who hasn't shed a tear over a soap since Maureen Bauer (TGL), and BJ and Stone (GH) died in the 1990s!

    Hell has frozen over, LOL!

    Good job, GH.

Amen. I wanted an ugly cry so badly. Today delivered.

I actually rewatch yesterday. With a few view of the story and what was to come, I was better able to appreciate the story they were building up to yesterday. These two episodes are soap opera at its finest.

I don't care that it was fanciful or maybe implausible.  It was beautiful and poignant because of the ....
NO SPOILERS wait til you watch it, it will make sense

This episode was me just suspending belief, not worrying about details, and just being in the moment and watching, and feeling amazement and appreciation ... due to well... no spoilers.

This episode was perfect. I full on ugly cried at the end.

I’m still processing my emotions from it, and that’s what good soap opera does. I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t watched it yet. Let’s give this 24 hours to sink in.

Where the show really got this right was limiting the cast the members who have history with Bobbie/Jackie and letting each one shine. The flashbacks were perfect, I was especially moved by the one for Lucas. I still remember that moment so clearly and what it meant to me a gay teen at Lucas’ age. And lastly, the scenes were long. The emotions were allowed to flow between the actors, between the actors and the audience. This is the classic soap we needed.

The scene with Lucas and the reporter at the end, every note, every gesture, the reporter’s quivering lip… oh, what magic is this genre able to create when we let it.

Long live General Hospital. Long live Bobbie Spencer. Thank you Jacky Zeman for today’s gift.

Now I’m going to go back to my ugly crying.

  6. Why was Chance worried about the cost of the Marcetti shirts Summer got him. Isn’t he a trust fund kid? He’s a Chancellor! Money literally grows on tress for them.

I love this current portrayer, and love him with Summer. What a refreshing take on the character.

I love Ashley’s reunion with Cole. Eileen played it so well, so nuanced and awkward. This is isn’t an ex she is excited to see again. There is still some water under that bridge.

…and to Colleen Zenk Pinter, let the mouse go. There is such thing as too much camp. This cameo has worn out it’s welcome.

At least this regime brought Bobbie/JZ back and at times she was on as much as contract players

OTOH, JFP and Guza didnt care about JZ and  never used her

I give Frank and Ron so much credit for this. All eyes were on them, the ABC soaps were on the brink of extension. They gave GH’s plum slot to Katie. Can’t you hear the execs in the room: go younger! go action! go fantasy!

…and they ran in the opposite direction. In time for the 50th we had back on contract and recurring: Laura, Scotty, Nikolas, Lucy, Kevin, AJ, Bobbie, Heather, Duke, Anna, Felicia…. and with most of these players figuring into the current cast still.

At the peak of JFP’s reign of terror (killing Alan, Emily, Georgie in quick succession), I never thought we’d see 1/2 these cast members back.

I hope episode 2 is my ugly cry day. Today there was barely a tear.

Because of what Carly says at the end of today's episode.  Bobbie was thought of as a teenaged prostitute, but since she was below the age of consent she was actually being was being trafficked.  But in the old days the idea of human trafficking was not really understood.  This new storyline is that Bobbie was secretly doing work in Amsterdam helping other women who are trafficked.  It's very powerful in my opinion.

I loved this twist with Bobbie and it so fits given her history

Agreed. This twist, and using Brighton, is actually good writing. I wish Lucas got it be with Carly, Felicia, and Maxie as the reporter gave the news. They are his family! He is Bobbie’s son for Pete’s sake.

I feel like the contact in Holland isn’t Luke, but Holly. Emma just did the cameo on the Primetime special.

Brighton really fit right back in with the cast, wow! So many of the players from her time are still there and featured prominently into the episode: Laura, Lucy, Scotty, Kevin, Felicia…

In fact the moments between Felicia and Brighton, the faint recognition, was so touching.

Other than Scorpio, where were the Q’s? Ned, Liv, Lois, and Brooklyn all fit in with the crowd, moreso than the Davis girls and Dante who were nothing but wallpaper.

I hope we didn’t roll out Lucas for this. He has barely had any lines. We don’t know where he has been. I hope he gets more before he leaves.

    Surprised Scorpio wasn't there.

Same.. I was surprised about it the minute the picture with the attending people got out.. I mean Scorpio has appeared so randomly over the years yet he can‘t be bothered with Bobbie‘s funeral and stuff? Ok 🤣

If it were a budget thing, I would have picked Scorpio over a half-dozen of the players: Felix, Kristina, Trina, Felix, Drew, Sam, Alexis

The clips are essential. Without them, we're left with people visiting Carly. They tell her they're sorry, they start to walk away, and she calls them back. Why? To TALK. It's not working.

Especially because in a rare twist of fate, the portrayers Jackie played her biggest scenes with are still on canvas/ in their roles! There have been very few recasts of the players in her orbit.

Bobbie helping Liz cope with her rape was Becky.

Bobbie‘s tumultuous romance with Scotty was Kin.

Bobbie’s feud with Lucy over Tony was Lynne.

Bobbie making Felicia realise that it was BJ’s heart was Kristina.

For Carly, Jackie and Laura had beautiful scenes revisiting Carly’s introduction at Tony’s grave.

I wish the show would use this gift to its potential.

Well, they do fittings & make alterations, so they have their great support people making them look good!

You can only do so much at a fitting. Especially with more vintage and fragile pieces.  These ladies have to be the same relative size to have adorned these dresses again.

Their Costume Designer Shawn Reeves conceived of the bridal gown segment

I love this context! What a way to celebrate the talented costume team.

And can we give kudos to Lynn, Kristina, and Becky for fitting in decades old dresses! I can’t fit into a suit I bought last month. These ladies are still in their prime.

On Night Shift season 2 Anna wore her original lace wedding dress with Robert from the flashbacks around the time Robin came on,

I loved that scene! (…and that overall miniseries)

Anna’s original Scorpio dress is all too classy for this affair. I wanted CAMP!

I know they thought they had Laura’s dress and discovered it was missing during the dreadful Rick Webber murder storyline.

The story I read was that the dress went missing much earlier than that storyline. The show was set to donate the costume to the Smithsonian when they noticed it was missing. What a bummer, because it is such a salient piece of pop culture history, which is the focus of the Museum of American History.

The photos never captures its peach colour clearly. I would have loved to have seen it IRL.

  13. Carly and Elizabeth broke my heart at Kelly’s. At least in this scene they do et have to explain why the restaurant is always empty.

Liz really deserves to be front and Center on this rig. She is played by a strong and nuanced performer. There is a great familiarity that Liz brings to the canvas. Between today’s scenes and Aidan’s coming out, this show would be so smart to work hard to give Liz a meaningful spot on the canvas.

    …but where all the flashbacks?

Watching early 2000s All My Children, I think Jamie got the short end of the stick in favor of JR, and Jamie was just as much of a legacy character as him.

    !!!!

I totally agree with this. Both of Brooke's children were undervalued honestly. And it was such a shame to watch

…and we actually had a talented and charismatic actor with Micah Alberti. He was very “Tad Junior” in his swagger. The actor was polished, but it took so long to figure out what to do with Jamie that Micah was already Primetime bound by the time they figured it out.

I love that Justin Bruening and Alexa Havins met on set, but in terms of acting chops the next Robert Redford he was not…

With Bianca Montgomery front and center for so many years on AMC, you have to wonder why the writers never gave her half-siblings Molly and Mathew a meaningful storyline. Both had so many roots on campus. They were clean slates that the writers could have taken anywhere. And because their parents were not related to everyone, they were ripe for romantic pairings across the canvas.

Molly’s cancer and Matt’s conception storyline was such a big storyline on the show. It would have been nice to see it come full circle by seeing what happens in a sibling relationship like that.

Here's my problem with Daniel Cosgrove: several of his past co-stars have talked in the past about how funny and charming he is IRL, but you never see any of that on-screen!  It's as if the moment the director yells "Action!" or says "and in 5...4...3...2...1," all the humor and charm leave his person completely.

I think Bill Lewis in his second run was the closest we got to his comedy/class clown persona. It wouldn’t not have worked for every character he played (eg strait laced murderer Aidan Shaw).

  16. The highlight for me was the return of the wedding dresses! I loved they picked the particularly gaudy and memorable ones for Felicia and Lucy! I wish they were able to put Anna in her Blossom hat purple one from her last wedding to Scorpio. Then it would have been the trifecta of 80’s glamour at its finest.

Ned, Tracy, Olivia, and Lois were also a perfect group. I am loving this current iteration of Quartermaines. With Lois back in the mix, it’s feeling more like the classic days of the Q’s! I wish Dillon was back too, solidying Tracy as the focal point of the modern Q family.

It was a missed opportunity not having Becky join Amber onstage for an Emily and Elizabeth reunion. I would kill to see those two stars together again. They worked together for so many years, and for so many episodes. Throw in Jonathan Jackson, and it could have been a chance to tribute Tyler too.

  17. Eileen is playing all the right notes with J.Eddie. Ashley’s apprehension at seeing her former flame, a relationship she does not look fondly back on. Let’s hope Eileen and J.Eddie have more chemistry this time around.

Perhaps J.Eddie can stick around as a new love interest for Sharon or Phyllis. Both of them are stuck on the same Abbott/Newman merry go round.

  18. I hope Lucas gets some sort of scene with Brad. We never got closure between them and the actors.

I also hope lazy writing doesn’t pair Lucas and Felix together off screen. The two have no chemistry. And I hate gay characters paired for the sake of being gay.

…and give us all the flashbacks in the world! Bobbie was one of the best characters up until the early 2000’s, and Zeman at the top of her acting game. I’m okay with less grovelling in current time. Lets the scenes from when GH was written well, rehearsed, and perfected.
