GRANT’S HOUSE (THE DOOR IS AJAR)

Grant is on the phone with his assistant.

Grant: Have you got my speech ready for the announcement? (beat) Good.

Paulina walks in and knocks lightly.

Grant: I can’t wait until then. Bay City won’t know what hit em.

Grant hangs up and Paulina walks up to him.

Paulina: Is that right Mr. Harrison? I guess I better get ready huh?

Grant (putting his arms around Paulina’s waist): Yes I think you’d better.

Paulina: What’s the big announcement?

Grant: I might as well give you a preview…since you are special to me.

Paulina: Special huh?

Grant: Yes.

They kiss.

Grant: I’m making it at the Center tomorrow.

Paulina: Are you talking about your announcement?

Grant: I’m running for mayor of Bay City.

Paulina: Wow. Really? Against whom?

Grant: I have no idea yet.

Paulina: You know what. I’m thirsty. I’m gonna get some water.

Grant: Help yourself.

BAY CITY CENTER TABLE

Kirkland is on the phone.

Kirkland: I don’t want anybody to know until tomorrow what I’m planning. (beat) Just make sure that everything is set up.

Charlie walks up and overhears.

Kirkland: My father has no idea what’s gonna happen, and that’s why I pay you to be my campaign manager. You’re gonna keep it a secret.

Kirkland hangs up, turns around, and faces Charlie.

Kirkland: Charlie. Hey.

Charlie: I can’t believe this.

Kirkland: What are you talking about?

Charlie: You’re plotting against your father aren’t you?

Jake sits at his desk and thinks about the happy times with Vicky, and lo and behold, Vicky walks in, shuts and locks the door.

Jake: Vicky what are you doing here?

Vicky: Nobody’s leaving here until we resolve this mess.

ST CROIX HOSPITAL

Carl shoves the police disguise underneath his bed, and reads the piece of paper that he has.

Carl: Cause of death…asphyxiation. Gunshot wound to the abdomen. When I find out who did this to my son, they’re gonna pay, but I gotta find my Rachel. I gotta get to Rachel, and my other children.

MEANWHILE…

Rachel and Frankie walk up to the room where Carl is staying.

Frankie: Let me go in…and make sure everything is okay.

Rachel: Frankie it might be dangerous.

Frankie: No…I don’t think so.

Frankie walks into the room…and sees Carl.

Carl: Oh my goodness…Frankie?

Frankie (smiling): You’re up and about?

Carl: Yes I’m fine. Come here. Give your father a hug!

The two embrace…

BAY CITY CENTER

Kirkland: It’s not like that Charlie.

Charlie: I heard you. You said your father has no idea.

Kirkland: Come on Charlie that doesn’t mean I’m cooking up some scheme against him.

Charlie: I can’t tell these days.

Kirkland: Look I can’t stand to look at my dad, alright, but it doesn’t mean I constantly plot against him.

Charlie: That’s a lie.

Kirkland: Charlie I can’t right now okay.

Charlie: Look Kirk, I like you. I really really like you…

Kirkland (smiling): That’s good to know. I like you, too.

Charlie: But you gotta promise me that you’re gonna try to give up this…grudge you have against Grant.

Kirkland: It’s not that simple.

Charlie: So you would rather hold onto this vendetta, instead of…

Kirkland: Instead of what?

Charlie: Maybe we could…pursue something.

Kirkland (moving closer to Charlie): I’d…like that, too.

Charlie: Promise me, you’re gonna try to resolve things with your father. We can’t go forward if you don’t.

PI FIRM

Jake: A mess you created.

Vicky: Because I was trying to tell you that Bridget was jealous of Michele.

Jake: You kicked our own daughter out of our home.

Vicky: Are you talking about the same home you walked out of?

Jake: Look I’m tired of fighting you.

Vicky: So am I. That’s why I’m here. I don’t want our marriage to end Jake. We’ve been through too much to get here. We raised two boys, and we had two beautiful daughters.

Jake: Don’t you think I know that? I think about it all the time. I think about….Michele.

Vicky (eyes welling up): So do I. I miss her. I miss her every single day.

Jake: She was so smart. So beautiful. I was looking forward to beating the guys off of her.

Vicky: Except for Cory Hutchins.

Jake: He’s a very upright kid. Just the kind of guy I would have wanted my daughter to be with.

Vicky: Yeah.

Jake: I had no idea…how much she held us together.

Vicky: We will never forget her, but we’ve still got Bridget…Steven and Kirkland.

Jake: What about us? What about our marriage?

Vicky: We’ve still got that, too. After everything we’ve gone through Jake, in my heart I love you. Always have, and always will, and I know you feel that same way.

Jake: Never stopped.

They embrace each other and kiss.

Jake: But it doesn’t mean that we still don’t have issues…that we need to fix.

Vicky: I agree.

Frankie: I’ve got a surprise for you.

Carl: A surprise?

Frankie: Yes.

Frankie goes out, and escorts Rachel in…who becomes teary eyed.

Frankie: Here he is Rachel.

Rachel covers her mouth in disbelief…and Carl can’t believe his eyes.

Carl: My darling!

Rachel: Come here!

They both embrace with a joyful Frankie watching.

Rachel: You’re definitely not an impostor.

Rachel kisses Carl repeatedly on his face.

Meanwhile, one of his doctors looks at them unseen and is on his cell phone...with GRANT.

DOCTOR: He’s up and about. He’s with Rachel.

Paulina walks into the living room with a glass of water.

GRANT: Let him go.

Paulina flashes back to her conversation with Jack about Grant, and why he shot Evan.

GRANT: They’ll be back in Bay City soon. It’s good to keep my enemies close.
