  1. I think TPTB know they can literally put on whoever doing whatever and it'll do well in the context of Peacock. I don't think they use Leo because they think he's amazing. He's like the one on a Housewives show who stirs the pot but isn't actually a character. He's useful to move other stuff forward, they use him to do that.

Of course, I'm jaded right now because GH is giving me good adventure with characters I don't even really know and this show, with lots of characters I've enjoyed on and off for years, gave me the stupid magic flower nonsense. So, maybe there are writers for Days who, like, think and make choices based on what they think is good. Not really evident to me as a viewer, but I suppose it's possible.

  2. Is Angela really a guardian angel? Because it's kind of crappy to send Bo back to earth to wake up as a Dimera pawn who seemingly murders an acquaintance (or is Kate a relative by marriage...an ex-step-mom/sister in law?), then gets shot by his kid, in front of his true love.

If Shawn were more of a main character, I think I'd probably enjoy this plot point because I could imagine it going somewhere. I do have to admit, I thought they'd kill Bo again, because it's the kind of ridiculous I expect from these writers. It's a shame they didn't go all out, have Shawn shoot Hope by mistake only for her to wake up as Gina. Hope as Gina with Bo as a Kiriakis could have been fun.

I guess we'll go to Megan for more magic serum or whatever? Or did Kayla make a batch?

I wonder why nobody in Salem became, like, a nice guy version of Rolf. Their lives would be much easier. That, and trackers, because the characters from the 80s disappear a lot. Next round, I hope our heroes are better adapted.

  3. I liked the Chelsea mention because I liked the actress who played her. A return visit could be fun.

For them, this was a decent explanation. It tracks that a Dimera would have a lifelong obsession with someone. All the brainwashing and scifi is how they operate. I still think Salemites should have learned something about managing dead people (or identifying death correctly), or just inserting trackers, but I guess the whole show collapses if people prepare for the inevitable kidnappings so I can roll with it. I think they did well, for them.

My main beef is the limited cast in this story. Shawn is a cop, it'd be easy to slot him in. At least one Dimera should be trying to find Megan. Eric and Brady literally just deprogrammed someone with items found in a kitchen, they could provide practical help. Such a missed opportunity for a really epic story.

hope that the psychic bonds between John/Marlena and Bo/Hope are at least as strong as what  Ciara/Ben have. I also hope John starts a support group for brainwashed men. There's a fun scene to be had with him, Ben, Stefan, Bo, and Harris. And Steve too, right, because he was Stefano for a while? Lots of them now, since it's easier to write that than choices and consequences.

  4. Does Nick really think these deaths bothered Will? He seemed pretty OK on his way back to his dream job.

So the one who took the orchid is a character we barely know who wasn't on canvas? What an amazing twist. Like when Charlie's killer was the one in the coma, or Lanis kids were taken by off-screen Vivian. It's not as fun to play along if the list of possible suspects is literally anyone who was ever on the show.

I get that the Heaven twist itself was only seven episodes, not so many, but the stupid flower saga has gone on for months, with no real reason for any of it. Allie left, Stephanie is with Chad, Megan is here. That's kind of it at this point. There were so many, many ways to get to Megan. Heck, don't the dimeras vote on a new CEO every few months? Pop her on then, better than orchids and fake deaths and devils again.

  5. This show is like Passions without the commitment to just being absurd, and without characters to root for.

I think the flower saga is one of the worst they've produced. I get that it's mostly buying time until some people come back, but still. I'm genuinely concerned that if it has any viewers at all it'll be the death of all quality scripted shows, because why try if this still does the trick. Is it ai-generated, maybe?

I'd really love a twist. Like Sarah, who declared at least one of them dead, is in on it. As it seems to be unfolding, I don't care which villain did it, I blame John, Marlena, and the rest of the older crew. Did they learn nothing from all the times something like this has happened?

Speaking of age groups, I don't know why they bother having young characters if they're not really included in the shenanigans. Why not fake kill Allie, then send Johnny and Chanel to rescue her (and fight temptation while doing so)? Why just all the grandmas? We're never going to care about the younger crew if they don't eventually do stuff other than have feelings.

I'm rooting for the show, since I'm decades into an investment, but this is not their finest moment.

  6. I really liked Allie at first, partly because I grew up loving Sami and had expectations for her kids, but I think they never really had an idea of what to do with her. To me she's had very little agency, like stuff just happens to her. It's weird and boring. It's too bad they like the actor who plays Alex more than the one who plays Tripp, because as meh as I am about him, I think Tripp would've been the better character for this plot point.

I hope they're going to do something ridiculously big with the devil, like make the whole stupid flower saga a delusion he created to mess with Marlena. Like, let's get through it then jump back to the scene where the Black/Brady clan prayed the devil put of her, as though she was in a different universe. Make it a bit Dark Shadows, in a way.

  7. At this point in my viewing history I can't get into a Dimera, or any of them, really, believing someone is dead. It's slightly more likely to stick if the character is visiting, like Laura, or Lani's father, but still. Most Salemites can eventually come back from this kind of accident. Just once I'd like to see them react based on that element of their reality.

Also, if EJ didn't have Rolf back up his mother somehow, that's on him.

That aside, I like the idea of killing off Susan. I'd have preferred they do it during the repossession, but this could work too. I am somewhat curious about the fallout for Xander and Sarah, in terms of how she comes to forgive him, and how strongly Maggie advocates for him.

  8. I like the twist in the flower story, where it requires multiple doses and nobody in Salem or beyond is assumed to be smart enough to find where the flower is hidden or synthesize the serum based on a sample. It makes sense to me that Kristen would believe that, though if I were her I'd fear Kate a little more, or maybe take out psychic doppelganger Susan, who they might eventually go to for some impersonation help.

  9. A company with as much CEO drama as Dimera can't be doing that well for investors. It's unstable. Or maybe it doesn't matter who's CEO-ing because it has competent middle management making sure profits happen. In any case, since the actual business is irrelevant, I'm ready to just make them all Co CEO, or have EJ or Jonny or whoever sci-fi the rest of the family to put an end to this.

I'm intrigued by the clone comment because it makes me think Marlena may actually die this time. It's unlikely her clones aged with her. Maybe we can get a groundbreaking story with a Marlena clone who falls for EJ, who then can be revealed to be a John clone (why not, his origin story is weird and he aged really damn fast). Oh, it's clones plural, bring on two for a triangle (bonus-original Marlena is a twin too!). There's your new Jarlena story.

I guess they could say the Marlena on screen is the clone, and we'd need to find real Marlena. They could make history and kill a Marlena every few weeks until we find the right one. In any case, much more fun to me to think about that line and it's unlikely implications than what's actually happening.

I'm also intrigued by Sydney. They didn't have to make an excuse for Sami, since there are other missing family members. What exactly could Sydney be up to that requires Sami to mother through it? Can we go beyond Salem to see it?

  10. I guess it's historic in terms of it having happened, but I don't think it's all that remarkable, except as one of the more pointless things that they've ever done. What exactly are the stakes here? Allie/Channel talked about it, everyone consented (thank god!), nobody is married, there don't seem to be any new confused feelings. Unless one or both is pregnant, which doesn't seem like it'd be fun to watch, what did they really accomplish that should be celebrated?

It's not even that scandalous now that the show's out of the midday slot on a basic network.

I'll admit, I'm probably partly annoyed because I feel like the character of Allie, and the actress who plays her, deserves more than this. I'm also annoyed because I think it's socially irresponsible in a couple different ways. And, I'm kind of over stories about sexual orientation. Have the characters be whatever, then give them jobs or friends or schemes, like most of the rest of them. Y'know, like they're most other people.

I'd probably have been into it if it were different characters. Or if it happened while the three of them were doing something else- like looking for a cure for Marlena/Kayla/Kate or something. They need to have an adventure at some point, right, to get their own Orpheus/Kristen/Jan?

As it was, it's like some rando's fantasy, with a little bit of a woke-lite presentation to keep it classy. But, I guess I'm feeling something about it, unlike a lot of the other plot points right now, so they clearly know what they're doing.

I just thought that they would have been broken up already, especially with all that Chad/Sonny teasing that the show did over the summer

That's what I'm afraid of lol I'd rather Sonny cheat with anyone but Leo

Agreed. It's a soap, and the characters are young, so let's cheat and breakup and whatnot. But Leo...from what I've seen he's too much of a caricature for me, and he feels out of place, almost in the same way as Sarah. I'm not into him.

I was only watching once in a while. When one day i was home. And Nancy was introduced. I loved seeing this plus sized diva. Who was large and in charge. So, i started watching Days a bit more for the shady and scheming Wesley's and Sadly RC ruined them for kicks.

I think Days clicked for me partly because of Sami, who, like Nancy, wasn't played by the typical looking person on television. It's interesting that of all the things they try to repeat on the show, they haven't cast one or two other regular-and-pretty people in significant roles.

  13. Punishing Gwen for her crimes with a terrible accident has an old school feel to it that I appreciate, even though it seems like they're racing though the story. I do wish that this all had sent Chad off the rails, like a traditional Dimera.

I've followed the show on and off since Reillys first run, and I can't remember a good business story featuring male leads. I appreciate that someone on staff keeps trying, and succeeding in getting stuff to air. Hopefully for their sake Sonny/Alex pays off more than Xander/Phillip did.

I know the actor has other jobs, but doesn't Will have to leave town to facilitate Sonny and Leo hooking up? Not a spoiler, just seems like the obvious route here.

  14. I like the juxtaposition of Clyde's successful murder with the latest attempt by Orpheus, who is apparently doing a rerun of something that failed two decades ago. Just stab people, is the lesson I'm learning from the show. If Clyde had just left town after, he'd be in the clear, too. Hopefully a future villain keeps that in mind.

I didn't see the great love affair between Chloe and Stefan, so the Kristen stuff would work better for me if she'd brought back Phillip instead, like she brought Roman back all those years ago (if I remember correctly). Or, she could just cut to the chase Clyde style, reprogram Brady directly and call it a day. I'm not quite clear how it's all supposed to work in her favor, after the custody hearing, in terms of Brady choosing to be with her again. I'm still intrigued enough to follow along, mostly because I want to see Gabi vs Kristen, but I'm not buying into it fully.

I liked Gwen at first, and I love the actress. I'm disappointed they didn't kill Gwen off, though. Go full in on the tragedy for Jack, raise the stakes for Jennifer, clean up a character that kinda doesn't work, imho (then bring the actress back in a new role...unless that's just for dudes). Missed opportunity.

  15. I'm genuinely surprised by Clyde because I never expected it to be someone on canvas during the story. I thought it'd be Phillip, or someone else sort of plausible but not around. Surprised and impressed are two different things, though, and I still am not getting the point of any of this. I feel like they promised something groundbreaking when this whole thing kicked off. Are Nancy and Craig going to agree to a platonic marriage or something?

They should have just had the devil kill Abby. Pick whichever possessed person you want, it'd get the job done with higher stakes.

Also, a break from weddings might be nice. Wedding reveals were cool back in the day because in addition to a story climax they were a rare moment when the whole cast would show up and interact, all wearing fancy clothes. That's not the case anymore, maybe they can try something else.

  16. What confuses me about Abby's murder is why I'm supposed to take it seriously when it's airing at the same time as Stefan's resurrection. Salemites should know two things by now, one of which is that nobody important ever really dies (the other thing they should know is to have a tracker embedded, like a pet, because kidnapping happens a lot).

Also, the last murder mystery gave us a killer who'd been mostly off canvas in a coma, someone with no apparent connection to the victim until the reveal. It was the same with the kidnapper of Lani and Elis kids. I'm assuming this will be similar, and it'll be someone off screen so it's a surprising twist of sorts. My current guess is Phillip- random, but you could make it work if you say Abby found out about him, or he was protecting Lucas or something. I just have a hard time thinking that the stuff they air is supposed to add up, or even be relevant, when it's all finished.

  17. This is fascinating. I can't tell if it's more about giving Days one final shot, or that they want to grow Peacock and think Days will do it (even if they don't think it can anchor daytime television). I'm really curious to see what happens with the cast. Beyond Salem pulled big names, streaming might still be cooler than networks, maybe they can get some stronger characters/actors back. It definitely makes sense why stories seem mostly wrapped up, if they prepped for a transition.

I tend to think it'd have been more fun to make it a podcast, since it's so low budget visually and soaps came from radio, while also giving characters social media accounts to try and get some attention on the show, outside those of us who have been hooked for years.
