I actually think the daily threads worked well for AMC, especially for those of us who couldn't watch in real time and were catching up a few days later. It kept everything organized and made it easier to follow the discussion, so I like the new direction the board has taken.

I preferred daily threads better, weekly threads aren't bad. I think monthly threads also can be off putting to people, cause like with the BTG Monthly thread or the GH one, they get big and unless you're on the board constantly, it's very hard to keep up and things get very repetitive

Until we start copying & pasting "I do NOT give Facebook permission to use any of my pictures, posts, or information, both past and future!!", there's probably hope we'll figure out the new format

I don't love it and can't really follow where things go atm, but as I rarely start threads it's not my problem. I'll follow everyone else's lead and figure it out as I go. Whatever is necessary to keep the forum functional works for me.

I'm ready for the ride wherever it takes us. This board has been a great escape from real life, especially as of late after losing my mother.

I do have some ideas about how you could make some revenue, Errol. I'll PM it to you.

I feel like those older Facebook people who had a hard time with any kind of change.

Everything was so easy and familiar before lol. Now I am trying to see if I have missed any new posts or threads. But I get that I will have get used to it, right?

SON has been my favorite message board for more than twenty years and I want the best for this community.

I haven't had time to acclimatize myself to the changes, because I'm currently too swamped by work/looking for a new apartment with my husband... so I haven't been online much at all. I hope by the time I'm back... I can still adapt, even though I am too beginning to feel like the old people who can't do anything different.

But... will the new format figure us out? 😁

I'm not leaving because of all the changes, because I really enjoy this board. However, I have to add that I'm concerned about the number of changes.

Whether it's true or not, everything looks like it'll be more complicated than before. I realize that's probably because new and different can be challenging, but posting has been easy, and I'm not sure making it more complicated brings new posters or members who post more often.

I'll be honest. I stopped reading through the changes/examples because it felt like overload. It felt like TL/DR. Soooooo much time and effort was put into all of it, and I appreciate and respect that so much, but I worry about the impact. Hopefully, I'm just making too much of all this and making a mountain out of that molehill.

The login/sign in problem on Chrome is huge. I don't doubt that's hurt the board. To this day, I CANNOT sign in on Chrome -- and I've tried everything. I had to download Firefox on my phone to use the board. Did some people just give up instead of going to another browser?

If posting is dramatically down, I personally think that's on the soaps more than on the setup of this board. BTG was gangbusters here in its first year. That has dropped off in huge numbers -- because that's what happens when something isn't new and fresh any longer. Isn't a huge percentage of the drop in posting because of BTG?

Sometimes I just want to say "I agree with you" when I see a post I agree with. You might remember that I asked long ago if we could have a LIKE button; you said you'd look into it. I think that engages people and might increase participation.

As it is now, if I post something about Y&R and there's no response for days, I have no idea if people agree or care. If I had a dozen likes, it might encourage me to post more often and not worry that my voice was in the wind. Why should I return to the Y&R board every day if no one engages?

There's a core of us who post often on one or more soaps. Maybe I'm wrong, but that core number seems to be dropping. I'm sad about that, but don't have any answers. I know I won't be going to Facebook groups, where too many people can't spell and say the dumbest things imaginable. This group has always had literate people around LOL

The new WELCOME threads to each soap are not being used at all to this point. I realize that's probably because the monthly discussions still exist, but it also might point to "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I hate to lose the monthly threads, but I will soldier on if that happens.

Thanks for caring about this place. I hope it comes across that I care about the board, too.

I like this idea. I don't know if it's a possible option, but it would be nice to at least acknowledge another poster's thoughts even if you don't want or have the time to reply to every single post.

I really love that the front page design that made a short appearance a few months ago is back. The option to see the last five active threads per area is so nice (vs going into each one to see if there is something new to read through). Now, that may not generate as much click activity, but if that's not a metric to care about, then let's keep this design )

I'll be here regardless. I was so active 20+ years ago and then only lurked the AMC and housewives threads for ~10-15 years when my career and life took off... but now that I have time and passion for soaps again, I'll be around regardless of what ends up working out or not.

Thanks for all you do, @Errol !

Yeah we’ll see. Personally the only thing I like so far is the reaction button. Long overdue. If possible you should also continue discouraging low effort posts. Posting “ICAM” or a simple GIF may be funny once but sometimes it gets overkill. Also getting multiple consecutive posts from the same poster gets overwhelming, they should be combined.

This is literally me. I’m 38 and hate change. I’ve been posting here since I was 17 holy cow.

BTW the notifications are having huge issue.

Ever since the massive logout, whenever I see the red dot, I click on it and if I’m browsing on my laptop it results in an error message. Then I refresh the page and it shows the notifications list correctly.

Secondly, even if I have viewed and opened a notification, the next time I open the website (be it on my laptop or phone) I see the red dot again, and it refers to the notification I have already seen. This has been happening for a while, long before the massive logout. Can you solve these issues?

What does the error message say? If this happens again, can you share a screenshot of what you see?

Note: Do not share any personal identifying information, or email us at [email protected] with the information if you feel better doing it that way.

If you have more than one SON Community window/tab open, specifically while logged in and/or on more than one device, you will see a "0" in the red box, or whatever number corresponds to the number of read messages minus the one you just opened. It just means you already read the notification, but you had not yet refreshed the other window/tab you had opened, regardless of which device you are using. It's ideal to only be logged into one device at a time.

If this isn't the case, and it is a glitch as you say, again, please share a screenshot if/when you experience it again.
