Kate Mansi, Kristina Corinthos-Davis, General Hospital

On the third anniversary of making her on-screen debut as Kristina Corinthos-Davis on ABC’s “General Hospital,” Soap Opera Network has learned exclusively that actress Kate Mansi has exited the daytime drama series.

According to sources, Mansi opted not to renew her contract with the soap opera and has already finished taping at the show’s Prospect Studios-based set in Hollywood.

At press time, a final air date for Mansi was unknown, and details were unavailable on whether the show plans to recast the role.

Prior to joining “General Hospital,” Mansi was best known to soap fans for her portrayal of Abigail Deveraux DiMera on “Days of our Lives,” a role that earned her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama Series.

Earlier this month, Mansi celebrated the premiere of her latest film, “Casa Grande,” a continuation of the 2023 limited series with the same, which hit theaters on May 1, and also stars Lou Diamond Phillips, Christina Moore (“Jessie”), Madison Lawlor and Lauren Swickard, the real-life wife of Mansi’s now former “General Hospital” co-star, Josh Swickard (Harrison Chase), among others.

“Had such an amazing time @napavalleystreamfest!” wrote Mansi on Instagram. “I realize that’s entirely because it’s a female founded festival so @fearonmay + @julianafolk infused it with the same warmth of an intimate dinner party all weekend long. Honored to have premiered ‘Casa Grande,’ and so happy to have met some incredible filmmakers I now call friends. See you next yr!”

Before casting Mansi, the role of Kristina had been portrayed by Lexi Ainsworth, who made her last appearance on the show just weeks before Mansi’s debut. Ainsworth won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Daytime Drama Series for her portrayal of Kristina in 2017, the same year Mansi won for her role on “Days of our Lives.”

In addition to Mansi and Ainsworth, Kristina was portrayed by Lindsey Morgan, who took over the role from Ainsworth in 2012 after the character was sent off to Yale University in October 2011. Overall, Ainsworth played the character from 2009-2011, and later from 2015-2023.

Mansi’s most recent Instagram post highlights “lots of new,” showcasing a new look for the actress.

Not surprising. I'd been expecting it since JJ left and her airtime went into the Phantom Zone.

Surprised, but also not surprised at the same time. At this point, rest the role and return it by the end of 2026/beginning of 2027, with another recast.

Lexi will just come waltzing back in for more of Kristina's tedious bi-annual appearances.

They have pretty much mangled any attempt to make this character a lead for 15+ years.

Dang, I liked Mansi - I'll be sad to see her go.

I wonder if this is why the Kristina/Michael/Jacinda thing seemed to have dropped quickly. They hinted at it for a bit, but it seemed to have been dropped over the last few weeks.

I'm not surprised or sad. Kate Mansi was a bad fit from the start, and Kristina took a nosedive with the baby story. Pairing Kristina with Lucky was the show's last Hail Mary, and JJ wanted no parts of that.

Sadly, it's not that surprising about this particular exit, as it seems that TPTB haven't known what to do with Kristina in years. Between her lack of on-screen romances and still being written as scatterbrained in her 30s, remember they were going to have her open an LGBTQ+ center that ultimately had her back running Charlies?

Next time when they bring on Kristina, she needs a purpose other than being the Corinthos-Davis screw-up.

Once JJ left Kristina became nothing more than a talk to. They abandoned any trace of her potentially getting involved with the mob and Frank letting her direct and consult for the Endometriosis story gave me a feeling an exit loomed. I would like another recast tbh, Victoria Konefal would have my vote.

I'd rather they invest in a character with Kristina's baggage. They've tried repeatedly to give her story that resonates with the audience and it just hasn't worked. Time to put her on ice for half a decade.

Mind you, I say this as someone who has enjoyed Mansi's unhinged demon spawn more often than not. But I am rather tired of little miss sanctimonious nutjob judging everyone in town left and right.

Which is generally what happens when poor Lexi Ainsworth is in the role, and I'm sure she is already at the Prospect Studios gate as we type. "Just checking in!"

But no, I agree, I would send Kristina fully away for a long time. No more of these random appearances with Lexi and so on. The plan was bad for Kate from the start in part because the show had already made it clear for many years they did not take Kristina seriously as a major character. Molly has the same problem today.

Letting her direct was another signal to me that she was out soon. It felt like a consolation prize while running out the remainder of her contract.
