Let's go back 10 years prior to 1980. Imagine what the topics would've been then. Maybe it's me, but it seems like every show besides the ABC big three was a mess in the early 1980s. We know NBC on the whole was a giant mess in the early 1980s. CBS Daytime was shaken up by the huge rise of the ABC big three, thus the numerous scheduling changes in the early 1980s.

OMG! Why did they kill Mary?! And like THAT?

NBC sues the Dobsons! Locks them out of the studio!

Characters X, Y, and Z had such promise - and just faded away!

SB recasts Gina with former GH actress Robin Mattson; Linda Gibboney OUT!

And finally...

Yet ANOTHER C.C. is cast - with former Days actor Jed Allan!

- Eden is kidnapped - AGAIN!!

- The four faces of Kelly

- The four faces of Santana

- Cruz investigates a case NOT involving his family, friends or acquaintances!!

- Vanishing Families (Perkins, Andrades, Hartleys, Duvalls, DiNapolis, Donnellys, etc.)

I had some fun ...

RH:

How many recasts does one show need?

Bring Back Ilene!

Bring Back Kate!

AMC:

Erica’s moving to New York … is she being written out?

Palmer and Nina ... am I seeing things?

OLTL:

Oh, sure, a whole bunch of Texans move to Pennsylvania

GH:

Sick things they’re shouting at Tony Geary

Laura … And Luke? And Scotty? And Hutch?

EDGE:

What time does it air for you?

SFT:

SAY IT ISN'T SO: Jo's a ... divorcee!

They're moving!

Y&R:

Brenda Dickson out!

Who are all these new characters?

I can't understand the new guy

They should have never gone to an hour

GL:

Dobsons out, Marland in!

What's with all the musical guests?

DOOL:

ANOTHER long-time character gone!

ANOTHER new writer!

ANOTHER new character in!

They like this guy Alex a lot more than I do

AW:

Should they have had a little more faith in the 90 minutes run?

Bye Bye Iris!

TEXAS:

Give it a chance, it's pretty good

Stick with GH and GL, it's lousy

LOL:

Remembering Love of Life

So what the hell happened to Betsy?

All shows:

Should RH, EDGE, SFT or TD expand to an hour?

ENOUGH LOCATION SHOOTING!

Will the Procter & Gamble shows survive the decade?

Such-and-such sure seems pretty “up” today

Holy cow! We're getting on non-TV magazines, too!

AW: “Why I hate these 90-minute episodes!”

ATWT: “This show is so stale!”

Days: “Massacre on the set! 14 actors fired!”

GL: “Ed and Holly or Ed and Rita?” And “Do you think Roger is still alive?”

Y&R: “What happened to Bond Gideon as Jill?”

From what little I've seen of early 1980s Y&R I thought EB sounded fine. For whatever reason Bill Bell didn't have EB use an American accent instead of his natural German accent.

Yeah, Eric sounded fine to me, too. I could just imagine some viewers making a mountain out of a molehill.
