Bringing back Diana Colville is one thing. But bringing on Judith Chapman to resurrect a frankly tired and boring double act from Y&R with GR - especially when she had another prominent role on DAYS - is stupid, IMO.

I didn't watch way back when (nor have I ever seen her and Greg Rikaart on Y&R), so bringing this actress back as someone else doesn't really matter to me, though I do agree with those who said it would've made a lot more sense to bring her back as Anjelica and do a story with Justin/Adrienne. I mostly just don't want Leo to be John's. That's too much and too stupid (if it ends up happening). It all just sounds like a mess.

It's kind of like when they decided to bring on a character named Xander (Alex), make him a part of the Kiriakis family, and NOT have him be the Alexander Kiriakis who already exists. It just makes you scratch your head and wonder what the writers are thinking.

Yep.  It is.  DAYS must think this will lure fans of Y&R's Baldwin/Fisher clan to their show.  I'm still expecting to hear Christian LeBlanc has joined the cast as Leo's brother, Chet Cooper.

It also sounds like the show doesn't know where to go with John, or with John and Marlena.  Frankly, I think that's been the case since the "Two Romans" saga and the "Robo John" stuff that happened after Drake came back to the show (after John had supposedly died).  Hence, all the resets to John's pre-Roman past.

I'm not going to speak for everyone, but I want DAYS to stop this ridiculous practice of rehiring actors for new and different roles.  It's fine when that actor played only minor or day player roles, but...Josh Taylor (ex-Chris) as Roman?  Wayne Northrop (ex-Roman) as Alex North?  Judi Evans (Adrienne) as Bonnie?  Kyle Lowder (ex-Brady) as Rex?  Judith Chapman (ex-Anjelica) as Diana?  Tamara Braun as, like, 17 different, front-burner characters?  If these actors (and others I'm probably forgetting/ignoring) are so valuable to Ken Corday and the other producers, then why not bring them back in their original roles?  We've already pointed out, for instance, how having JC come back as Anjelica (and not as Diana) could have just as much impact on the lives of Leo, Sonny, Justin and Adrienne.  And if WN could come back as Roman, as he's clearly expressed that he'd like to, I think there could be a way to do that without losing Taylor or Drake Hogestyn and still give all three men something valuable to do.

IMO, this practice of rehiring once-prominent actors to portray characters with no connections to their former ones is just one more thing that makes it difficult for DAYS viewers to invest in their show emotionally or take it seriously.  (I'm not even going to address the rampant resurrections of characters that should have remained dead, or the romantic and sexual hookups that are past bordering on incest at this point.)

You're speaking for me. This hit every point I wanted to make dead on.

Uh, I've never liked seeing Chapman and Rikkart trying to out-diva one another.

At least now Rikaart doesn't have the restraint of playing a heterosexual role, and he can be as effeminate as he wants to be. Too bad Diana Colville doesn't have an older son for Christian LeBlanc to portray...

Luckily, he is still on contract with Y&R. Though if he did come to DAYS, Ron would throw a spanner in the works and make him her lover.

Or...make him Leo's ex-lover. ;)

Don't forget, though, Y&R and DAYS are owned by SONY; and as such, they are able to work out an arrangement where they "share" CLB.  After all, they worked out one for Eileen Davidson.

Basically, what GH did with Wally Kurth and Jane Elliot. They were lovers - and had a kid - on Days and GH made them mother and son.

Reason #5 why I'm dead-set against this move.  JC would serve a similar, if not better, purpose coming back as Anjelica, stirring up trouble once again for Justin and Adrienne through her son, than she would as Diana Colville.

And if Diana just had to come back, well, I reiterate my earlier preference for Andrea Evans in the role.

They don't want to, which is stupid.  They finally have the chance to give them something to do other than break up or make back up, which pretty much defined them as a couple way back when, and they won't take it.

Stupid.

Summed it all for me. Khan

Ditto for me as well! I hate the practice of hiring actors already well-known in a role to play another well-known role.

I had a sinking feeling Diana was indeed Diana Colville but was trying so hard not to believe it.

LOL omg

They could always cast CLB as Scott Banning (no I'm not advocating for it, LOL; I'm already annoyed to have to endure Chapman and Rikaart hamming it up together again). I'm surprised Rick Hearst hasn't returned yet.

As a back-from-the-dead Bo Brady. ;)
