It's not the only major story. It's the only active story. Now, I totally understand what Sally meant in her interview.

What are the other major stories? And what does that mean re: Sally?

Zzzzzzz is all ill say on the new YR. It is so boring nothing exciting. Just very talky and this my dears will not translate into higher ratings. The abbot breakfast had the lowest ratings of week.

The background music is still missing; it could add so much to each scene.

I could do without the shaky camera scenes; looks too amateurish.

This baby swap fallout.

Affair fallout transitionsed into Brash and Sassy/jack vs Billy still going.

The only reason I list them is because the actors involved lead the episode counts. The GC Buzz orbit doesn't.

Sally said in her first interview that Devon and Hilary had the only proactive story. A show can't survive off that.

My question, what is the story?

Good question :)

I don't claim to be a writer by any stretch of the imagination.  IA the scenarios you mention sound pretty bad.

If they are going to go the Nick/Chelsea route, this secret should be working her conscious, have her pull back from him, make excuses not to see him.  Nick starts wondering what's wrong with her and tells Nikki he doesn't understand what's wrong with Chelsea but she seems distant or uninterested in him.  Victor overhears.  He confronts her...

Maybe it can be used to make Chelsea less goody goody.  She was a little schemer back in the day, use this to her advantage by getting something from Newman.  She threatens to tell the truth unless Newman does something fir Chelsea 2.0?  Granted, that's so far from how she's been written the last few years, that might need more fleshing out.  And EB may not take kindly to Victor being punked out.

Or they can just ignore it until they get Adam back onscreen, but at least have Chelsea and Victor have some meaningful conversation about it.  I would just like to see something that explains why these two are keeping this from Nick.

I mean, it's been less than two weeks - maybe a little too soon to worry about what the active new stories will be.

It'd serve the canvas to have Chelsea now become a schemer. But I think someone somewhere wants MCE as the show's lead heroine. I don't think Sally will agree but I also can't imagine them turning her into a vixen either.

I feel like SullyCAN's parentage will be ignored like Lily's was for all those years. It'll just stop being mentioned until the show is ready to recast Adam, if ever.

Agree. Which is why that's not really the conversation we were having.

Ah, I see. I didn't count the baby swap since it's essentially over, but I see what you mean. I didn't remember that from SS's interview, but you're right. However, I think they plan to use Christmas to build up the characters before launching anything major. It may make for little action but I think ultimately it was a wise decision.

The last big stuff was baby switch and that was Pratts. I hope we have more exciting stuff then what i am seeing. As i.said a big huge umbrella story is needed.

I think it would too.  She's so vanilla right now it's zzzzz.  Good point IRT Lily.  They did manage to keep that truth for a loooong time.

Finally caught up. It's so amazing that, flaws and all, Y&R is a show now that I cannot wait to watch the next episode of. Susan Dansby is a keeper.

Re: the comment about motivation from earlier: It's so true. I understand where these people are coming from, what drives them. That's so important.

Jack and Jill arguing felt like old times. The flashback was a great touch. I love that they're mindful of the ABC audience as they re-establish all these relationships. Ashley's reaction when Jill went over to her and started bitching made me laugh out loud. And how fun was Jill & Victor bickering and her scolding Billy and Victoria like children?

Speaking of Billy & Victoria, God, I hate to say this, but I finally could see them as a couple now. But this is the show that's managed to make even Dylan palatable. Jason Thompson is so fυcking hot, I can't stand it.

Nick was being such a gigantic ass. When will they realize Morrow can't make his character sympathetic while acting that way? When? Loved Faith's explosion in the end, badly acted as it was! lol

Talky talk character conversations are dialogue but there needs to be more. Ratings will plunge u need to have exciting umbrella stories the canvas.

Came across this article about the decline of the department store. Although Fenmore's is technically a boutique and not a department store, this offers some perspective that it is indeed still "a thing" that traditional stores are still struggling with ways to cope, stay in business while they attempt to rebuild their brands.

By no means is this a by-gone issue.

Cramer says department stores are in real trouble and Nordstrom is 'cannibalizing themselves'

This is one reason why I think SS and KA need to get a move on with Lauren's Fenmore story. Stalling risks a loss of momentum and this is really the only current story that has genuine movement that feels like a story with legs (character and plot development).

Yes, excellent point and I was drawn to this story the minute it started airing.  It's strange why they have let this one go for 3 eps.  Hopefully today...
