Yeah, I linked it up top.

The new show is dividing even hardcore fans. I love it, but I'm all in with most things Lynch. You have to be when there's an extended sequence in a casino of a shellshocked, near-catatonic Cooper getting jackpots at slot machines while guided by floating, flaming Black Lodge portals done up in (deliberately) wacky CGI.

From the final sequence in the Roadhouse with Shelly, James and co. in episode 2, the incredible music of Chromatics:

Heh-LLOOOOOOOOO.

third look-alike?

That journey out of the Black Lodge was never going to be easy. Cooper in that casino was amusing and at the same time harrowing.

I laughed a lot at the Lucy/Andy/Hawk scene. And what fun to see Gordon and Albert. For a second I thought Cooper would be trapped in the Black Lodge for episodes on end but I'm glad he's out and returning, although it (probably) isn't over yet. I wonder if the show will return to some of the more traditional Twin Peaks once Cooper makes his way back to town.

Now let's see how long I can hold off before episode 4.

Watched all 4 eps that were released yesterday and it was awesome.

Such a great reboot and I cannot wait for the rest of the episodes.

Also. Did anyone else laugh really really hard at the scene in episode 4 where...

binge watched the first 4 episodes and Madchen Amick (Shelly) still looks great as ever; the first part of episode 3 was way too artsy for my personal taste

unless they do another season, I guess we're supposed to assume Annie Blackburn (Heather Graham) is dead

The debut had low live numbers but very high streaming numbers - broke the box on new subscriptions. I expect another major drop in future weeks after the very strange premiere, but Lynch doesn't care about that and I'm not sure Showtime will either. I think they're in this for the prestige to compete with HBO - or so I was told a year or two ago - and I think it'll keep that. Whether or not they (or Lynch) will commit to another season, if Lynch wants one, is an open question. But I know this story is designed to be closed-ended as well, to not have to go on. If it doesn't that's fine.

I think Lynch would keep Twin Peaks going as long as Showtime would let him. Saw an interview saying he was blindsided by the first cancellation since he had more ideas, so they could just use those now

Lynch and Frost have said this show is a closed event and has a definite ending. But they've also suggested they could do more depending on the muse or interest. I think it's possible but may depend on a few factors.

Joe Adalian at Vulture breaks down the numbers. Low same-day, good streaming/subscriptions. He also reiterates what I've heard from the beginning, two or three years ago from people at the network - that Showtime is more interested in the prestige and buzz here to take them to an HBO level than they are the actual ratings. They knew it would be weird and not for everyone. Based on that, it's possible they could want a second helping (if Lynch is willing). FX also seems to enjoy losing money on critical darlings like the low-rated Americans, which I applaud them for sticking by.

Best theory I've heard about Audrey, which may or may not be nonsense, is that she is the billionaire who funded the Black Lodge box experiment in New York (to look for Cooper).
