Haven't seen Captain Phillips, but I'm damn sure that Abdi did a far better job than him. They could've easily replaced Christian Bale with Michael B. Jordan for that Best Actor nod because that bootleg flick was far from his best turn on film. I won't even touch on that ferret-faced fvcker, Bradley Cooper, getting any kind of recognition. Otherwise, I'm rooting for Steve McQueen to finally be the first Oscar-winning Black director (especially since Spike Lee was robbed almost 25 years ago). Lupita, Chewy, and Pharrell go without saying, though I will give John Ridley an extra kudos for that nod (because he really did a great job in adapting book to script). Otherwise I would have been completely done with the awards shows in general and been persuaded that there's racial issues underfoot. I'm sorry but I just can't agree with or believe who they selected for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. Even Best Supporting Actress going to Jennifer Lawrence is a stretch...
